Third generation 31 year old south asian man here. born and raised in east London currently living in Romford. Considering moving to Colchester as i’ve heard in recent years a lot of black and asian people have moved there, which I’m grateful for. Thanks for the video as it gives me confidence to look in to.
Really lovely video. I am moving from the US and looking at Bristol, Norwich and Colchester as I have friends / family in each area. Thank you for sharing. ❤
This has been helpful, I'm looking to do a homeswap there but with a 9yr old son I'm so scared, I don't want him to feel a way because of his skin, I know racists are everywhere, but I don't want him to feel bad for sticking out
Hey I am so glad you found this helpful! I had similar concerns to you and my 14 year old brother has come to live with me, I was worried for him but so far he has had a really positive experience. Of course this is just our experience but keep an open mind and I am sure things will go well, all the best :)
Wow! So relieved with this, especially seeing you a blood sis. I have got a study offer from the Uni there and considering taking it and relocating with family all the way from naija, but how scared I have been finding no content about the town online, not even anyone that have been/is there. A suiting town for me from your review. Wish I can hear more to help us make a decision among our offers. Yeah, jobs prospects, childcare, accommodation, cost of living, etc.
Hiya so glad this is a useful video for you, please message me on Instagram and I can try and give you more information, all the best with your move whatever you decide :D xx
This is great - thank you! I'm moving to Colchester next week and I was wondering if I'd find my black food there. I'll have to bring my Caribbean food with me. LOL Best wishes.
You just got yourself a new subscriber 🙂. I have been looking for information about Colchester l am a Nigerian, i just got admission to the University of Essex Colchester campus. I have been searching to get information about the area and accommodation. Can you please do a video about the cost of accommodation over there? Looking forward to getting more information from your channel.🙂
Hey, thank you so much for the support and welcome :) I don't know much about rented accommodation as we chose to buy in the area, but I do hope to make a follow up video soon and will share the limited information I know and hope it helps :)
A lot of students tend to rent on greenstead estate as it's affordable or for a bit more suggest Wivenhoe. A really good day out is West Mersea, an Island near Colchester, kids go crab fishing or go on a boat. Good fish and chips restaurant or an oyster bar. In Colchester town you have the dutch quarter with houses from 15/16 century. Cochester Castle is amazing, good park for kids and lots to do in the summer. Born in Colchester, also click on the walking tours, very good and you have 5/6 diff ones to choose, Good Luck.
Know it really well, it's the opposite to Colchester, rough in parts, better housing on Noak Bridge estate or Laindon. The better schools are in Billbricay and Barleylands is a good day out for kids.
Hiya wasn't sure what you meant but if you are asking if there is uber in colchester sadly there isn't! They have another cab service called panther I think but I've never used it...sorry I can't be of more help!
Hiya, if I moved to France I would have a choice of international food as France has food from all over the world so not exactly sure what your point is? Similarly England also has an array of food from all over the world, which is something I have experienced since moving to Colchester but of course not to the same extent as a city like London, which is where I moved from. Furthermore, nobody is demanding anything I am talking about what is and is not available. So please take your ignorant and unhelpful comments elsewhere. Cheers!
Mcdonalds is american and when we all abroad we look for it. It not about skin just about what famlair. Also Jamican food is peng, trust me I would have a goat curry over my own cultures food.
