I’ve lived in Toronto I’ve lived in Vancouver. I’ve lived in Victoria. One thing about Alberta. Edmonton is the sun. The sun shines almost every day of the year. The other places I’ve mentioned that I’ve lived a lot of gray a lot of rain a lot of drizzle

Moved from Ontario to Edmonton in 2015, before the population increase. Edmonton is more sustainable then most cities. I rent a 1 bedroom condo, AC, gas fireplace, underground parking, balcony, washer and dryer, dishwasher, West of the city all for $1250.00. Please note Ontario-ites the city roads DO NOT get plowed, sanded or salted on the first snowfall. Edmonton does NOT use salt on the roads neither. They use small rocks, and sand only. You MUST be prepared to have good defensive driving skills OR invest in 4 wheel drive with snow tires. This does not make you invincible, but it does help. Be ready however; to ongoing cracks in your windsheid which is not illegal btw unless your vision is completely impaired. Good Luck Ontario!!

Brian, Edmonton is in need of more of these accurate and positive endorsements from knowledgeable people like yourself. As a long time resident of Alberta, it saddens me that Alberta has received inacurate negative media over the past decade. Please continue with your videos. Also, please create more content including shorts and videos with shorter durations to be more readily watched. Thanks for your video!

time going slower is partly physiological, when you are on top of your expenses because they have been reduced compared to GTA you will have less stress and end of the month bill payment anxiety, so you enjoy life and slow down.

Recently traveled to Toronto from Edmonton so I think that is why the algorithm sent me your video. (I reside in rural AB but lived in Edmonton 20 years ago.) The thing I like about Edmonton is the trees. One of my favorite trees to discover is the Historic Holowach Chestnut Tree (Aesculus hippocastanum) located downtown. It was planted in a yard that eventually was paved for parking but they left the tree for its significance of not normally growing in the Edmonton zone. Sadly as the city infills, we are losing trees. People don't like the mess that comes with crabapple trees and others like it and take them out. Also the infill properties don't necessarily have enough space left for trees. Also noticed the last time I drove around that a lot of the spruce trees in peoples yards appear to be reaching end of life. So as the demand for housing increases for all the people relocating to Edmonton, keep in mind that the Edmonton you see today isn't going to be here in 20 years. Likewise goes to the friendly factor. Edmontonians are much less friendly than they were 20 years ago.

Edmonton should sponsor you for promoting the City or hire you to be their promoter.

Hello Brian, Thank you for such a detailed video about Life in Edmonton. Can you make a video about the pros and cons of purchasing a House, Townhouse, Apartment etc., keeping in mind factors like 1.Resale 2.Price appreciation 3.Utility fees 4.Property Tax 5.Snow & leaves removal 7.Furnace maintenance and replacement 8.Property insurance 9.Condo fees and anything you might wanna add. I Know these are many things and I keep researching about these but hearing from a local will definitely be useful🙂 Thanks again for all your efforts 😊

"From the perspective of having lived in both places, Calgary seems preferable. The presence of Chinook winds makes winters milder, and the Rockies being within a 1-hour reach provides easy access for leisure. Calgary also excels in job diversity. Of course, real estate and rent are higher, mainly due to a scarcity of land for building compared to Edmonton. The higher cost in Calgary has its reasons, and it holds advantages in terms of investment as well."

I can't argue that Calgary is an awesome city in its own right and might be a better option for a lot of people! Though I would say that in today's world a lot of people need to focus on affordability first and that alone might make Edmonton the right choice for many. We've got a lot going for ourselves too!

I moved from Toronto to Edmonton in April 2024. There's a shortage of good quality rental units. I always lived in a house. I don't want to live in an old 3rd world style apartment. It was hard to find a good quality detached, duplex, or townhouse. Most rental townhomes have 2 bedrooms in the basement. Most rental units don't have air conditioning. Money wasn't an issue for me. I found a brand new duplex to rent. I am paying $2300 per month + utilities. The landlord never bothered installing air conditioning. I was told I don’t need air conditioning in Edmonton. We have a heat warning right now until Wednesday, July 10, with a temperature going up to 35 degrees celsius. Just a heads up for anyone moving from Toronto. Life will be much better once I have moved to my fully paid house. I moved here for a laid-back lifestyle. I was tired of working my A off in Toronto. I was just working and paying bills and mortgage. Thank you, Tiff Maclem. I would've never moved to Edmonton if you didn't increase interest rate. Drivers are much better here in Edmonton.

Alberta had a mass influx of Canadians from eastern provinces 50 years ago when the oil sands boomed. When that wasn't enough Alberta looked to the commonwealth, England, Scotland and Ireland.

The crime is absolutely horrible in Edmonton. If you have bikes locked up outside your home they will be stolen. I've had three bikes get stolen in the past 2 years and they were locked up. Garages get broken into and robbed. And the people that do the crime get a slap on the wrist and then we let them out to do it again. Whatever you do don't move anywhere near downtown Edmonton. And don't leave any valuables in your vehicle otherwise you have a broken window. Downtown Edmonton is dirty and disgusting. We literally let people do drugs out in the open. You can often see people shooting up on the trains.💉 The drug epidemic is killing our city.

Correction; the rich politicians wrecked the provinces, don't blame us. It's a shame that too many people voted for Trudeau, or maybe the elections are rigged? Wouldn't be surprised if the United States suffered the same fate, considering an unsecured border for starters.
