HELLO EVERYONE DID YOU GUESS CORRECTLY!!?!? Anyways this move was exhausting and sooo much work lol. Sorry the filming and audio are ALL 😨OVER THE PLACE I did what I could 😅 Now please watch until the very end because this video is SUPER LONG!!! and RU-vid will punish me if you don't watch most of the video 😨...which is why I left the juicy stuff (cost etc) til the end hehehe
I definitely like the second apartment a lot except the closet. If I could move the closet from the first choice it’d be a great apartment for one person I think. Good luck with the rest of your move! And the new job that can be stressful! I started a new job last Fall after finishing my second bachelors degree and its stressful but good learning experience.
You could create a lot more storage if you think three-dimensionally and create some storage above, one simple way would be to buy a bunk bed and use the top bunk for storage. LOL, you looked very stressed out and you look like you need a holiday now. 🏝️
It was fun watching the whole process and very informative of how moving works in Japan and in general. It’ll help me prepare when it’s my turn to move.
I admire how much work you put into your move and this video. It was very informative and nice. This also opened my eyes to how creative you gotta be in a smaller space. You pointed things out or did things I never would've thought of or knew about to make a small space more functional.
WOW! That's so professional and organised for movers! Japan is awesome for that. UK movers can suck, that's why I bribe fam and friends with food and stuff for helping me when I've moved lol. Happy to see you settling in somewhere new, it's a new chapter for you.
Congratulations on your new apartment and navigating this move! I love your new curtains, that pink is perfect. I wish you lots of fun and happiness in your new place.
You should be very proud of yourself!! Since I first saw your videos, I was impressed with your courage moving to a different country/culture and succeeding 😆😊 You should do a video on your friends that we’ve seen in your videos!
I'm happy you could take the second apartment. Noise and street few can become extremely exhausting over time. I had two noisy apartments, they almost drove me insane. And I'm not using "insane" lightly.
Moving in country Western Australia is easy as everyone has a trailer so only costs fuel. We have moved heaps and never used a moving company. I just got back from Japan mid April and heading back next year, we have been looking at buying a house over there. We love Japan so much, so this video has been good.
Hey Girl, i admire how you packed and organized everything by yourself. with my adhd i always struggle extremly xD especially with that space you have'! Awesome :D thanks for taking us with you!!! ps: love your new apt!
Congratulations in your new place!! We just moved from Florida to Pennsylvania for my husbands job. Luckily we had a full service pack & move so they packed everything for us which is great but unpacking was interesting..a box would say “Master bedroom” I’d unpack some sheets and at the bottom would be cookie trays or my tea pot lol
Very cool that you’re able to live and work in Tokyo. Covid killed my opportunity to volunteer for the Olympics. I was chosen as a city guide and a games guide as well. But as you know, they didn’t allow foreign volunteers when the games were rescheduled. Hoping to return to Japan this Fall. But lots of changes for us with this move to PA and leaving my job with Disney 😢 Best of luck to you!
Ha! I love that you opened with the sound of … did you say previously that it’s a nearby highway?? Ye cats! I hope it quiets down at night. Still, I would’ve chosen apartment two as well. Probably. But being in the middle of a fun area rather than a few blocks from one would’ve been a strong pull, though…
The last two times we moved, we had to extremely Canadian experience of borrowing my boss’ snowmobile trailer lol, who knew that a double axle snowmobile trailer is big enough for a 1 bed apartment?
congratulations on the move! $275USD sounds really good, and they really take care of your furniture so it's totally worth it. i'm just shocked at the amount of stuff you had in that studio! good luck settling in, enjoying your new area and starting your new job!
I'm so excited for you! Moving is always stressful but having a new space can be so exciting and refreshing ! Enjoy the process of settling in :-) rooting for you!
Congrats on the move! Honestly as someone with chronic pain I am so excited to never have to move my own stuff again when I live in Japan lol. Can't wait to see how the place comes together!
Any advice for going to smaller places where the people might not speak english? I have found small cafes, ramen shops, and other smaller businesses that I want to go to, but I speak toddler-level japanese. Maybe not even toddler-level. I feel like I'm missing out on some experiences because I don't want to be "that foreigner" who goes somewhere and can only speak english
Yeah, this! I have the same issue of feeling intimidated or like I’m inconveniencing the staff too much. But there are so many local small businesses I’d like to check out.
Congratulations on moving to your new apartment, thank you for sharing the moving process with us too. I think you made a great choice with the place you’ve chosen and I wish you all the best in this next chapter of your life 😊
Re-visiting this video about 9:48ish into the video, putting up your curtains, "you seem to have an amazing city skyline view, WOW"❤love that.I saw it again 2nd time 15:18 ish.
Yeah the moving companies are something. We had Sakai over for a quote and Ari san no mark showed up early. I stayed with Sakai as he called and calculated and hubby quickly took Ari upstairs to talk. Ari guy must not have seen me. He started bad mouthing Sakai saying they used gaijin employees. Yeah hubby noped out of that quote fast. The guy seemed a bit horrified when he saw me. Hubby later told me what happened.😅
Hi Allison!! Thanks for share! The last time I moved it costs $3,000 USD plus tip for 3 moving guys to transport all of my packed boxes and furniture into a UHaul I rented from my 3rd floor walk up, one bedroom apartment. It took them 3 hours. They did not provide boxes, wrap furniture for protection - nothing!! Those prices for the amount of work the movers do in Japan sounds like an Isekai dream! 😂🤩
Congratulations on your new apartment! Moving is awful in any country I think, but it seems like yours has gone pretty smoothly. I would find it difficult to live in a Tokyo-size apartment, I am a craft hoarder. Your logistics of trying to unpack in such a small place looked horrendous but you are obviously experienced on how to tackle it.
I watched all the ads to help with the more expensive choice. 😂 my neighbors kid has been screaming every day too and I’m tempted to use my megaphone and ask them to chill out.
I comment "Congratulation on your independent apartment" the same as before. Cozy place typical of Japanese style hope there is quiet too. Pack well 3meals, snacks and don't forget coffee. Next time you come having good content.
Congratulations on the new apartment! In the US, the same type of move would have cost you at least double… 😬Looking forward to see videos about your new adventures. 😀
I really admire your determination. We are starting the whole process of moving to Japan and it's incredibly daunting and overwhelming. So many things to do and so many questions to investigate.
I enjoyed your video. When I lived in Japan, I had an absolute nightmare of a move. I asked a Japanese friend to get quotes for me from removal companies because I didn’t feel confident enough to do it myself. She said it would be too expensive and that her husband would hire a small truck for half a day and we could do it ourselves. All I needed to do was pack everything up in boxes. I can’t remember how much it cost but probably around ¥8000. He turned up with a van (not a truck), and his teenage son. They loaded up the fridge, washing machine, small table, 2 chairs, TV, mattress and the van was full. Drove it to the new place and half a day was gone and they had to take the van back. So, I spent the next 2 weeks, before and after work making numerous trips on the train with my suitcases - clothes, books, small appliances and kitchen and bathroom stuff. I probably made at least 2 early morning trips and 2 late night trips every day and at that time I was working 6 days a week. Everything I had packed into boxes had to be unpacked and crammed into my 2 wheelie suitcases but not so heavy that I couldn’t manage - walking to station, up the stairs (no lift) on the train for 15 mins, the destination station had a lift from the platform down to the gates and then another one up to the street, then a 15 minute walk to the new place….empty the suitcases and go back for another load. I did this with a broken toe too as I dropped my TV (old style) on it trying to lift it up onto its stand. A couple of days before I had to be completely out of the old apartment, the same friend rang me and asked if I had anything else that needed to be moved and when I said yes, she sent her husband and son with their car this time to take the rest of it. I took the train with the suitcases while they took the rest of my stuff by car. I then had to go back and clean the old apartment. Only then was I able to start organising my new place (a small 2 bedroom, 2 storey house where I lived for the next 13 years). I so regretted not getting a removal company to move the lot in one go. I was willing to pay but my friend said it would be prohibitively expensive. I’d have happily paid ¥80,000 to avoid the aggravation. Looking forward to seeing your video of the apartment all set up.
Hi, new subscriber here. I think the moving company gave you a very good price. Here in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 is very expensive and they do not protect your furniture like that. Very nice apartment, I'm glad the moving went smooth.
Of course it’s not the right video to ask this question, but if you got served some food but couldn’t eat it how could you politely refuse the food. I have a texture issue because I have strong gag reflux. But say I ordered something and I was like I’m no I can’t eat this what would you do. In Canada, I just won’t eat it, I may explain like it was too salty or spicy or or I might say I’m not well to eat it. But I have no problem just sending it back and paying for it.
How far did you move and what size truck did they use? Cause I move in a 3.5 ton long truck 76 kms away (not sure how many freedom units tho) and I paid 73, 000 so unless you moved super far, I think you got got
Glad to see you're settling in! I just orchestrated a move from Fukuoka to Saitama for a 2LDK apartment, plus getting me and two kitties here (it was a long, long day). The apartment getting process is so, so stressful (as was closing out the old one) I don't want to do it again any time soon. The move itself turned out be the easy part (well, if you discount packing 50+ boxes). I had one company come in and take a ton of stuff away, and I lucked into movers who charged me around 1.6 million for that cross-country move. Beats the 55,000 yen Art charged me to move less than 10 pieces of furniture 150 meters during busy season.
I am moving to Japan in November! What is the best way to ship things overseas to Japan from America, in your opinion. ps, I'm not sure, but I think you moved to the apartment that I liked.
Hi allison i forgot to ask you how did you throw away your stuff like the plastic bins in your old place? i thought you needed to recycle and sort all the rubbish or unwanted stuff?
Allison! I'm so excited for you. Moving is stressful, but there is so much excitement in starting a new chapter, like you said. I really hope one day I can say that I'm moving into my own apartment in Tokyo one day =) おめでとう〜
My guess would be because unfortunately she performs quite poorly in their annual popularity poll 😰 Basically Sanrio spams merchandise of the top 5, then a decent amount of the top 6-15, and everyone after that is kinda... mostly ignored lol 😰
