Moving Logs with the Log Loader Trailer

If there's one piece of equipment I have that I find reasons to go and use, it's the log loader trailer. Before long I"ll be trying to drop the garbage off at the curb with this thing. Although I feel like I"m loading the logs up efficiently and transporting them with grace and speed, you can be the judge of that. The Wallenstein LXT115 is the log loader trailer I'm using here moving around firewood logs from the drop location from the log truck to my firewood splitting grounds.

One of my favorite sayings: " It's never too late to have a happy childhood" 😁 You're really getting good on that thing! I liked the, standing the log on end, loosening your grip as you slid down the log to get more in the center, move the best....nicely done!

Hey Sandy so glad you asked for constructive if your logs are on the ground if you could tug-of-war them to get to the center of the log before raising it to the trailer you have less teeter-totter when you get your lawn parallel with your trailer actually in most cases lower gravity is best but if you raised your boom the elbow part of your lifting arm to its highest peak then use the forearm to lay your lumber in your trailer it would not only goes smoother it actually is safer because if you look at all of your videos once you get the log next to your trailer that would is just bouncing around here tottering and that is wicked throw the trailer off balance and using slower movements of your hand joysticks if there's a flat surface you can lay the joystick you were going to have more control because you're not twisting the joystick an your hand is on a flat surface and you're just moving the joysticks handles

But the chop shop isn’t near that location, is it? One benefit of your log splitter is you can take it where you need it, versus hauling logs to the chop shop, then hauling IBC cages back. I was half expecting to see you drive the logs up to the chop shop and turn them into firewood immediately right off the trailer, then haul the ibc cages back from there....least amount of log handling that way.

Hey there! Thanks for coming along for this video. I used this area for a little staging area as I needed a bit more space over at the chop shop

Hi Sandy. With the wench on the log loader, will you be keeping or needing the bigger winch that you first had? Have good days!
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Год назад
Good question. I’ll keep the larger three point hitch winch just because it has more pulling power and longer cable for bigger pulls

Hey sandy. Is there any way to turn the pressure down on your log trailer it looks to be a little jumpy I was watching I believe it was Mike input back with the morgans he turned the pressure down on his excavator with the new bucket he got and it worked great. Yea when I worked in logging we had a log loader are was mounted on a trailer that thing was fun beats the heck out of using a Dozer with forks all the time to load the log trucks. Have fun at the Paul bunyan show

I’m not too sure David, would be handy for sure. I saw a log loader competition down at the Bunyan show today and sure was impressive

@quarlow1215
@quarlow1215 11 месяцев назад
You're doing pretty good with that Sandy. As for building a load, try putting down 2 or 3 of those long more slender logs on the bottom to start. Then go at the rest of the load. That gives you a good base. We put the thinner logs on the outside of the load to contain the bulky logs. It cribs the sides as much as possible and keeps the fat ones inside the load. And those short fat ones well put one against the front headache rack and then another behind it. Oh and yeah, I would love to play with a trailer like that. It would have been real handy when I lived up north. With my self loader log truck I was stuck to the road and had to drag ropes and cables around to winch the blow down logs along the roads. With that set up I could have gone right over to the logs to load on it and then transport them to a landing to be loaded onto the truck. Would have saved huge amounts of time and that makes the Gov Forestry boys happy.

Do we really need all if the equipment...I say no. Need isn't the right word. I use a chain and a log dog. I cut the wood in firewood lengths in the woods and haul it in my bucket. Tough terrain for a trailer but of I had a hundred acres (like you) I would absolutely love to have a trailer like this.

The trailer seems to make you life easier and that's always good. It being fun is just icing on the cake. While I never hauled logs, I sure have hauled enough of what they get made into. Chipboard, plywood, poles for utilities and fencing, 2x's of many different widths and lengths, soft and hard woods. I always loved my job, not so much where I was doing at time, but the job was good. Good vid. Thanks.

The log loader is the way to go even if it means having fun using it. Next thing is the arcade grapple box with suddenly all the little prizes gone. Sandy has hit again.
