Ok, so you use the winch to raise your poles, I guess that's why your sheave pulley is what, about a foot up off the bed?

Yes, the sheeve pully is about 8-10" above the bed, and about inline with the poles pivot point. It needs the be above the pivot point of the poles in order to lift the poles up, or else ot will just create a downward pressure.
