I never realized that the 890 had a brushed motor instead of the brushless motor like the other 800 and 900 series... The 890 is really a strange combination of an 870 and a 690... At least the use of a 690 style motherboard explains the weird differences.
I didn't knew it either, I thought it was changed by someone, but it looked like it was done by profesional, not some random person who sometimes fixes random stuff, so I mailed iRobot and they told me that all 800 series Roombas with wifi have this motor. Anyway it works in regular 800 just normal. But I still didn't try putting 866 bin into 896...
My uncle E5 still going strong after 3 years of being used on an entire floor plan, it actually cleans very well for being a random navigation in a full floor plan and often manages to come back And it's not a small floor plan too, he gives that thing a run for his money and other than filter and rollers is original, brush too
Yes, it looks good, but I liked the 696's design with green details more. Also, older 800s, for example that 870 looks waay nicer than this. But it cleans and works just ok. :)
Yes. It's motherboard is somehow simillar to 696. That's why. Also it does not need them, there is no persistent pass and optical dirt detection even tho, it has full bin light sensors.
Of course I do. It was a present from my friend from Hong Kong for Christmas, I got it brand new only a month or so after it was released. Unfortunately she died in 2020 on covid, so it's the only thing that I have, that's left of her. :( About a year back I also got for cheap another E5, the black e5158 model, I didn't make any vid about it yet.
