I'm trying to find a cute house near a job opportunity here but it seems like the whole thing is parking lots :( is there any motion toward walkability or mixed use development?
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado 2 года назад
Hello! Aurora has dozens of different neighborhoods and options - and many of them get high ratings for walkability. There are a lot of mixed use developments, especially around the Southlands areas, but you can find places throughout Aurora. What kind of opportunities are you looking into?

Given that there are ZERO affordable housing options in Aurora for a median income in Aurora (unless you want to hear gunshots and live with rodents and roaches) how are housing affordability and options pros instead of cons?

I appreciate the perspective and affordability is a significant issue throughout the metro area - and Aurora has it's challenges, no doubt. Looking at Aurora from the perspective of someone newly moving to the city, it does tend to have more living options because of it's size and how the neighborhoods are all different - and so for someone moving to the area, it does tend to have more affordability than other popular metro areas. Much like Lakewood, where I live, there are areas more desirable than others and I get where you are coming from.

Moving for a VA job 😢so it’s bad place
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado Год назад
I don’t think it’s a bad place at all, especially for veterans or people working with the VA. I’m a vet myself and I go to two different care centers in Aurora and have always enjoyed them, and the community is very veteran friendly.

How's apartment prices there?

Aurora is well liked because of the options it has on affordability. It's such a large city that you'll see a wide range, with some rents sitting around $1250-$1500 for smaller places and studios and working up from there. I've found people I have connected with have found good fits for them in the $1500-2000 range, with some nicer spots to choose from above that.

Are homes with basements normal in this area for the newer homes or is that older homes? What's the affordability of Aurora as compared to the Springs?
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado Год назад
Basements are definitely normal for just about any home you find, worst case you might find one that is unfinished or partially unfinished, depending on the builder. The affordability of Aurora is one of it's drawing points, and it does have areas that will come closer to the Springs than most other cities in Denver. I do think on average though the cost in Aurora will be slightly higher than the same type of property in Colorado Springs.

are there a lot of people in their early 20s in aurora? or if not, what neighborhoods that are close to aurora have more young people?
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado Год назад
As big as Aurora is, there are dozens of neighborhoods where people in their early to mid-20’s are renting and buying. Aurora has a lot of options when it comes to affordability in comparison to some other suburbs, so there’s no doubt you’ll find neighborhoods and communities that are very popular with people your age. Thank you so much for watching - happy to answer any other questions you have!

Lived in Saudi Aurora for 25 years and watched it go from bad to worse. Moved away from there 3 years ago and sold our house for 4 times what we paid for it. If I were still there, I could sell it for 5 times what we paid. In Aurora, the schools are terrible, crime is terrible, the traffic is unbearable. Interesting that you don't film the homes along Colfax, 6th Avenue, North Havana, etc. Very very south Aurora might be decent, but unaffordable.

Also want to point out that home prices going up in Aurora, not equal it being a good place to live.
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado 2 года назад
I understand where you’re coming from Mike - quite certain we could pick any city in the world and it would have areas that were less appealing than others. I always advise people moving here to do their due diligence, including research on schools, crime and affordability. Traffic is an issue in Denver, and I don’t think that’s an Aurora problem, that’s a city-wide problem. I appreciate you watching and for your feedback - it gives me a lot to think on!

@@destinationdenvercolorado But actively leaving out the crime rates and bad areas of the town you’re tryna speak up is….shady my guy
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado 2 года назад
@@akted9076 If you watch some of my videos you will hear me talk about crime rates, it’s not something I shy away from - I just put it in perspective. Find me a major city in the U.S. that doesn’t have crime - or “bad areas” for that matter - so saying I’m shady is a bit dramatic in my humble opinion. Aurora is the 3rd largest city in Colorado - clearly there are some pretty good areas of the city to call home. It’s also illegal for me to blatantly tell people an area is bad to live in - it’s called red lining. Hence why I consistently tell people to do their due diligence on crime, schools, etc. before choosing an area.
@destinationdenvercolorado
@destinationdenvercolorado 2 года назад
@@mikegee8875 I don’t disagree that home price increases do not equal a good place to live, prices have gone up everywhere. I’ve covered a lot of areas in my videos that have a “bad” reputation - and we’ve seen plenty of neighborhoods change over the years, both good and bad. When I moved to Sloans Lake 15 years ago people told me I was crazy, now it’s one of the most popular neighborhoods in all of Denver. My goal is to give people from out of state a general idea of areas and then they can explore and do research - I’m not a realtor selling them a house.
