----- ABOUT ME
Hello/Servus,
My name is Tomasz. I'm a father, a software engineer and a Vienna lover. I moved with the family to Vienna in 2020 and I was so blown away by the city that I bought a camera and started this channel to share some of its beauty with you. I was born and raised in Poland, I lived for 4 years in Wrocław and 8 in Kraków. I know and love many amazing cities, but I cannot imagine living anywhere other than Vienna. Please join me on my journey of living abroad. I will take you on a tour around the city and talk about different topics related to life in Vienna. If there is something you want to hear about, let me know in the comments below.
Best,
Tomasz Kusienicki

Hi Tomasz. Is the Car emissions tax and annual charge. Is the Doctors or Hospitals free if you pay tax or do you need a Medical Aid policy? Thank you. Dino
@TomaszJakubKusienicki
@TomaszJakubKusienicki 3 месяца назад
Hi Dino, You pay this tax as part of your car insurance and can pay it annually, semi-annually, every 3 months or monthly. You can find the calculator here: durchblicker.at/kfz-steuer-berechnen As far as I know, if you work on a regular work visa or come from an EU country and have your main residence in Austria, you can use the public healthcare system like everyone else. It's not 100% free, but most things are free or almost free. In the fist month of working you should get an e-card that you can show at doctor offices and pharmacies. Visits at public doctors are free, prescription meds have small fees and most standard procedures are free, however not al of theml, for example dentists are expensive if you want anything more than the most basic seal. All the best, Tomasz

Hi Tomasz, It is about renting apartment. Before moving Vienna with job offer we need an address proof for visa. How can we confirm and rent an apartment just by seeing online through website ? We cannot believe it by seeing in online and do rental contract. Do you have any suggestion on this ?
@TomaszJakubKusienicki
@TomaszJakubKusienicki 2 месяца назад
Hi, sorry, but I do not know that. I have stared by browsing offers online, but then I arrived in the city in person to see the apparments. I would not rent anything without checking it in person first. I think that is quite risky. Overall I do not have any experiance with the visa process as I do not need one.

Hi, is there any alternative document for birth certificate if one does not have it? The passport usually have such details as DOB and place of birth.

Hi, sorry, but I am not sure. I would suggest to reach out to the appropriate office, they should be able to tell you which documents are being accepted.

Hi dear Tomasz, I need your advice. 1. If I am moving from Poland to Vienna is it worth taking my polish car with me and register it in Austria, or it will be cheaper to sell it in Poland and buy a new one in Vienna? As I understood you took your car from Poland and had to pay Nova tax and other taxes but they were lower because there are some discounts for movers from another EU state? 2. I am a bit afraid of the insurance costs in Vienna comparing to polish prices. I need to have a SUV for my family at least something like BMW X3 and despite many thoughts that you don’t need a car in Vienna I am not ready to use metro and trams, I like driving to Lidl or shopping mall by car. Which car models families with children usually buy in Vienna in order to have lower costs of insurance? As I understand it should be some hybrid or electro car? Maybe you bought some car there which is good for a family but not so expensive to insure? Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for the comment, those are good questions. There are 2 taxes you need to consider: 1. The NoVa tax, this one you pay only once when you buy a new car or import a car (for example from Poland), you do not have to pay it again when you buy an used car in Austria. 2. The Kfz tax, this one you pay with the insurance, so usually every month, every quater or every year. As far as I know, the only way to pay less in those taxes is to have a car with lower emission, so a car with small engine or a hybrid, plugin hybrid or electric car. For plugins you calculate the tax based on the petrol engine alone and for electric cars the tax is 0. For example: for my Skoda Octavia 3 1.5 TSI 150PS from 2016 I have paid around 240 euro in NoVa and then 650 euro every year in the Kft tax. For my Volvo XC40 PHEV from 2021 the Kft tax is around 300 euro. In this case the differance is not that huge, however the co2 limits are gettinghigher for newer cars. The best solution is to check it yourself for your car: - NoVa: www.finanz.at/kfz/nova/ (this one is for cars produced after 2020) - Kft tax: durchblicker.at/kfz-steuer-berechnen You do not have no discounts for importers, you always pay the same. From what I see most people who needs bigger cars just buy plugins or electrics nowadays. I hope this will help you to find what will work best for you. Oh and please remember to talk with a few insurance agents to find ones who are willing to give you a good "Bonus Malus" based on your insurance history from Poland. You can start looking here: durchblicker.at/autoversicherung/vergleich/auto/fahrzeugauswahl Good luck! ❤

Can Americans get a retirement visa?

Hi, good question. Sadly I’m not sure, but Austrians are quite friendly towards Americans, so I would not be surprised if it was possible.

Hi, this is actually quite complicated topic. Depending where you live in Vienna, what your language proficiency is and sadly where you are from, you may have a very different experience here in that regard. I personally consider Austrians rather friendly, but I coming from Poland and this means two things: -I had low expectations as people usually don’t interact with strangers in Poland and customers service is often pretty bad. - I don’t stand out. So I think not everyone will feel that way. I would like to explore this topic more in the future, maybe even make a video about this, however I am still way too short here to be able to judge such a complex subject myself.
