Moving to Berlin (A caption I never thought I'd write...)

Yes, we're moving to Berlin. That might not seem like a big deal and could be pretty exciting - if the circumstances were different. 🙈
As former Digital Nomads living without a home base for 3+ years we've learned how to deal with uncertainty, but 2020 has been a challenge even for us. The only place Greg and I ever wanted to move to and set base was Spain. Our flights to Malaga were booked for September 2nd - but life had other plans for us.
So.... I am doing my best to learn how to deal with uncertainty while sharing our journey with you - even if that means living in Germany for now.

The one thing thats kind of comforting to watch is everyone sharing their stories of how they are adapting this year. I get tired of hearing the phrase, but it’s videos like this that remind me that “ we are all in this together”, this year of change and uncertainty...Last year, we were all so confident in what we were doing and where we were going. This year however, has definitely been the year of the pivot. Hang in there! I’m sure he will both make it to Spain someday :-)

Hi Nellie, I can really relate to your predicament. I, too, wanted to move to Malaga this year and my dream flew out the window because of covid,. It seems that making plans is a thing of the past. All we can do now is hope. As for Berlin, people either love it or hate it. My personal experience with that city was not a very positive one but I don’t speak German. You will probably love ❤️ it. You probably do already. Best to both of you.

Wow - that’s crazy. I watch this video because I temporarily spend some months in Malaga and I’m living in Berlin :D Just wanna share that. Ich wünsch dir alles Gute in Berlin! ;)

Did anybody's plans go to plans this year? 😅 I'm sad we have to wait an extra month to see you but it will make the move all the sweeter when you do finally get to Spain! 🤗😘

Nelly this is the time to be flexible and creative which you and Greg are. This uncertain times have been quite challenging for business owners like me. I have not being able to visit my office in Puerto Rico since the end of February! So I have had to be creative, trusting, and empowering. I have come up with new ways to keep in touch with my staff to foster teamwork. I have being force to trust them with caring out their duties as well as the company vision. I have empower everyone to be more independent and self reliant when working with clients. Anyway if I were to answered your questions somewhat philosophically, I would use a saying in Spanish: "no hay mal que por bien no venga". So cheer up and keep you sight on the long run... this is just a little detour in the way to you final destination.

Thanks for sharing and what a suitable Spanish saying!! 😊 🙏 we will all be able to move as we wish eventually - even if that means being more cautious and wearing masks.

I'm sorry to hear that the move to Spain had to be postponed for at least a month. However, with Greg's potential assignment in Berlin in late September, this was the right decision. I've always wanted to visit Berlin. I think living there for the next month will be great! My plans have recently changed again as I had to cancel the already postponed trip to San Diego (was supposed to go next weekend) since things in California are still not fully open due to the virus outbreak. I was able to go on a road trip to North and South Dakota over a week ago which was very exciting! Fortunately things are open there and cases weren't too high in the Dakotas.

Everyone in the world will remember 2020, where they were and what happened. This year was supposed to be the year we moved to Cornwall, but kids leaving home has been delayed as their plans were put on hold, this delayed our plans and at the time of writing we have no end in sight for our move due to factors outwith our control. And this is how I am looking at our plans for 2020, what has happened hasn't been anything we can control so we just have to go with the flow and be patient, our move will happen as will yours and Greg's, you will make it to Spain, it may take a bit longer than you anticipated but you will get there. Good luck with the move to Berlin.

Hang in there Nellie, I'm sure you will make it to Spain and hopefully the change of interim location will be short lived and you and Greg will feel that Spanish sunshine on the face soon. When you do get to Spain is the plan to be located there for a period of time before travelling again?

As someone that is thinking about moving or purchasing a place to live in Malaga, this disease has put alot of things in doubt. Hope you stay safe.

Never thought to move to Berlin, either, but then I did last year (though more long term focussed). Enjoy the city! Probably a good change after staying at your mum's place that long. And Berlin is great anyway ;)

Nellie I’m sure this unexpected journey will work out and that you’ll have some interesting adventures until you do move to Spain. With that said, what I want to know at the moment is .... can you fit into that big suitcase? 😜👍

I made the decision to move to Germany from the US and been working for us and Germany 47 years since 1974.The government says I will need to work untill Iam 66 that means 55 years paying tax,I don’t know anyone that has worked a normal job over 50.
