Born and raised in FF county. Your video is a good representation. Compared to the rest of CT and a lot of the country, FF county definitely has more access to everything. High paying jobs, NYC, Transportation, I95, varieties of food, aquatic life and just more metropolitan. I will say that for you to enjoy CT, its almost a must that you make six figures at minimum. You have to want to work and you have to make good money, simple as that. Its not necessarily the place for young explorers or people trying to “figure it out”, in my opinion. Also, as a person of color, over the past year weve seen whats happened to the nation. CT, particularly FF county, has been a very civil place to be. People are generally civil and use common sense here. That, mixed with the four seasons and great school systems, are the reasons im never leaving and starting a family here. Very good review 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I lived in Westport from 1967-1969, actually on Longshore in a cabin because my father had an investment in the Club and also managed the clubhouse. I had moved by myself from 1985-1990, and had some very happy times there. I was able to start a profitable business and move my life forward quite a lot. But then in 1990 I moved back to New York City. In 1998, I was trying to move back to Connecticut and ended up buying a house on Long Island instead. It’s amazing how different the cultures are between here and there. In terms of: public sandy beaches, nightlife, fun, friendliness, food, things to do, shopping, the arts, medical care, affordability, cool active towns, sports and fitness, cultural diversity, public transportation, easy access to whatever you need close by, and good for all ages... I’d rate Long Island considerably above FF, CT. As far as: taxes, cost of living, crime, schools, libraries, houses of worship, quaintness, towns you can walk around in, parks, and weather, I’d rate FF, CT and LI as equal. But when it comes to open space, mountains, evergreen forests, wealth, courteousness, City life (Stamford), more corporate opportunities, tradition, longevity of businesses, smooth roads, and well maintained infrastructure..., I’d definitely rate FF, CT higher.

We love Connecticut, and I've tried to leave it several times now, lived in Atlanta, Boston, Honolulu, Annapolis MD, and always came back. Guess my nickname should be boomerang! We're at Fairfield Beach, so life's good. 100 yards from Long Island Sound, the sunrises and moonrises are amazing! The TAXES are for sure to DARN HIGH! A fairly honest video assessment.

I was raised in the Farmington Valley...the traffic when we moved to Westport in the early 80s was not nearly what it is now. I-95 is like the LIE... good part in Westport we are close to the best apizza in the country (easy trip to Wooster Street in New Haven...). Fortunately, Sallys and Pepes have set up branch offices down here.

i guess that depends on which of the 8 counties your in for retirement if your in windham or tolland county it's probably cheaper and easier to retire in or northern new london county
We lived in CT for ten years in Glastobbury. Beautiful town nice people . We moved to Florida winter a few years was horrendous and one thing We never understood was a yearly tax on our vehicles. That was bs. Taxes are bad . Florida is great no state tax no yearly car tax and no snow. Good opportunities as well
I live in NYC, married and have 5 kids. I would love to move to ct but I am not sure if I will get a similar salary of over 100k as a school social worker in the district office writing IEP for special ed. If you know I can then I’m moving the next day. I currently have my house listed for sale in NYC.
I am not sure about the salary here for that career, however, many of our transplants work in NY for a while until they can transition here. Housing costs may be lower here, which could allow for a lower salary with the same lifestyle. Don't hesitate to call, would be happy to help when the time is right. Hi Charlie, nice objective view of Ct. Lived in Springfield MA for a while and Boston. Thinking about future professional position in Bridgeport CT. Interested in ideas for school for my 3rd and 5th grader girls, I'm a physician and currently on west coast. Obviously schools for my girls would be major issue for us and wife considering grad school at Yale. So just wondering on your ideas, thank u.

Westport has some of the top rated schools in the state. USA Today actually did an article on the best public schools in each state and Staples High School in Westport was rated number one in Connecticut. Pros....more jobs, coastline. Cons....you need to make a lot of money, crowded, expensive, rude people, lots of poverty, dumpy towns, high crime, high taxes, very materialistic.... you'll never measure up and constantly comparing yourself to everyone else. Lots of workaholics and alcoholics. I moved out 20 years ago and my standard of living is 100% better. You really need to be very rich to live comfortably in this state. Most live a ghetto life and they work a lot and pay a lot for it. So sad.
