Really? I bought a condo, live downtown and last week there was a Murder 1 block away, yesterday I was threatened and I call the police pretty much weekly now. With these prices and how hard I work, it is unfair downtown is now full of Druggies and low income housing. Even Hotels on Granville now house druggies and homeless. Also where is my downtown neighborhood? Granville? Granville is a disgrace now, it's disgusting and everyone I know avoids it. For the Vancouver prices, I think normal working people shouldn't have to live with this. I moved here in 2004 but last 5 years it's gone downhill fast. Let me stress, I have loved Vancouver but it's being ruined.
@ryanalty

@@darrenporter1850 thank the international Chinese for raising the prices. All the investors made the prices go up years ago. It has nothing to do with the druggies living in the area. Any downtown comes with druggies and homeless. Maybe try helping them out. God bless.

@@baxakk7374 Lack of downtown too. I just walked along Granville 30 Minutes ago. Dump. Wish the 26 million they spent buying the Hotel on Granville to house the druggies was spent on making Granville a lovely European Style Street full of bars for people to sit outside on a summer evening. Rather than homeless and people shooting up in doorways, strippers, porn and pawn shops and restaurants who has windows smashed in and boarded up Shops as rent too high.

A basic rule of choosing a place to live in greater Vancouver. If your commute to or from work will be during rush hour and you plan to commute by car, do not live on the north shore and have to commute off the north shore. Or vice versa. The North Shore is North Vancouver and West Vancouver, separated from the rest of Greater Vancouver by Burrard Inlet. Unless you love sitting in very congested stop and go traffic. Because of geography there has been no increase in automotive traffic capacity to and from the North Shore since 1961. Non rush hour traffic is merely bad. Rush hour both ways is horrific. As well, if you commute by car avoid having to cross any part of the Fraser River. The bridge crossings have been improved somewhat though the connection between the Ladner part of Delta and Richmond have not been expanded since 1959 and the current planned expansion has been put on hold again. If you work in Vancouver, you are better off in the long run to pay more and live in the city of Vancouver, Burnaby or the Tri-Cities area of Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam. If you work in downtown Vancouver, commute by Skytrain if you can and have your hours such to avoid the peak of rush hour. Commuting by car to downtown Vancouver is being made more and more difficult every year.

Vancouver is a great place to live....provided you are earning at least 6 figures and dont live anywhere near the DTES. Which means avoiding Gastown, China town and Yaletown. These areas have gotten very shabby lately.
