Anyone in the comments judging the high rent!! This is what lower rent means in Los Angeles: I pay 1600 for a 570 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment also in LA. it has updated appliances, updated floors, soft-close cabinets (like Michela’s). BUT no parking (literally none, because the lots next door and behind are under construction so we aren’t even allowed to park on the street), no in-unit laundry, no dishwasher, no AC, and my (corporate) landlord allows major issues to go unaddressed for months. Like… we’re talking mice, power outages, water/sewer leaks in the laundry area, major issues for 3, 4, 6 months at a time. The amount of stress paying less than 2k here will cause you is unreal. Unfortunately even with having a masters degree my income is too low to move anywhere else and still be able to max out my IRA every year lol but excitedly waiting for the day where I can move to a nicer place!
