Thank you! My Mexican heather are starting to grow again. They looked a little sad during winter. You're right! The yellow flowering tree is called sweet broom. I left the bigger of the three trees I have untrimmed to check out the flowers. I think the flowers are a wee big since they grow in a bunch along a stem and spoil the illusion of a small tree but definitely pretty to look at. Time to trim it though, it's almost done flowering. They grow relatively fast. Your "ugly" prune will be gone soon enough. Thank you for the encouragement. It's been difficult getting back to editing. I just want to play in the garden!

same here, all the branches had just barely a few leaves and i was scared to even clip them back in spring, i didn't much. i noticed that about the brooms flowers also how they are too long, i had planned on letting them come out and then clipping all the yellow shoots down to a couple sections. and probably repeat after another flush, (depending on how it reacts). it seems worth the trouble tho even if it ends up looking like a tree with massive flowers sometimes =D maybe find some tiny gnomes with clippy hands to hold all the flower shoots down XD

@@MrTributes Hahaha! You and gnomes. I see the craze is yet to be over. =D I think that sounds like a good plan for the broom. Are you going to be calling the clippy hands gnome Edward? =P

cats with clippy hands would work too haha. I don't know any gnomes named Edward.. I do know a gnome named gnorm..lol
