Haha! Wow I can't believe your still up too! I was about to comment on how things do just break out in the field and it sure does sucks and I was gunna say it must have been a long day Wes, it's 11:45 in Texas and I should have been in bed 2 hrs ago. Lol I know neither of y'all are Kubota fans, but have either of y'all heard of that 175hp Kubota their coming out with? We will be demoing one here soon and I wanted to know what's y'alls thoughts we're on an actual Kubota Ag tractor? It still sounds crazy to me... Haha
Nice aspect is it gives Wes a bit more time to focus on the commentary. He does an excellent job at talking on the fly, but he's always on the go, always doing multiple things at once ...Kinda like a farmer... But this gave him the time to remember the repeated questions and comments over the months, and come back with a straightforward and clear explanation as to why he's doing things one way over another. Would be great to see one of these every month or three...
Wes..i knew you spent alot on equipment..repairs..gas...etc..but had no idea of the monies spent on grain and fertilizers and other chems...so my gratitude to the farmer has grown tremendously since i subbed...thank you for all you do and the long hours you need to do it with...
I,m glad you stick with one brand of tractor. I once asked an old farmer what his biggest wish would be. He looked me straight in the eye ans replied " I wish all my tractors had the same shift pattern. " Thank you for the time you spend educating us ignorant folks on your method of farming. Fred
I really do enjoy your video Wes . I used to farm for 15 years of my life we went out of business . Since then I done a lot of jobs about 4 year ago I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression . I watch ur videos every time u post them it's makes my day see father son and grandfather farm . Because that what we used to do thanks Wes and family for videos .. Joe from upstate Ny
Great explanation of why you run the windrowers over a triples mower. I'm sure you get tired of reading the comments about them like I do. Some people, no matter how often you tell them something, it just doesn't sink in. Nothing wrong with the Big M or a triple mower setup, it's just not for your operation. I also kinda like this kind of video, don't make it a habit, but it gives you a chance to explain somethings outside of what you have time for while you're bouncing across the field.
I just love watching farming videos --i am retired her in the Philippines from Ohio , And have just bought a place for food crops and a few animals --Your videos remind me of farming days when i was a kid - Driving the old Ford Jubilee around .
Wow life change going to the PI. Very different way of life for sure. I love the Philippines but I do not think I want to move there for more than a month at a time
Hahahaha culture shock but had to for my arthritis reasons ...Farming sure is different here i tell you ..My wifes family still use animals to do things ....But they have very good crop every year ..
Your 100% correct about that ....And my line of health drinks is proof First Vita Plus ..all natural fruits , vegetables and herbs ...no chemicals and approved by USA FDA too ....I feel great since being here ...
I enjoy listening to your insights about farming and farm life. The reasoning for buying x and not y. What you go through in a year to prepare the fields for mowing and baling. It really helps a non farmer get a feel for what a farmers life involves. Two of my uncles were dairy farmers and I wish now I had spent more time on the farms. Keep up the awesome videos.
I think from watching all the videos you've made dice I started watching you. About 2 years ago. I think you went with the best choice for you, and it's payed off in spades. It seems to have really had no breakdowns of any major issues. Like a pickup header. And with proper maintenance and service, you shouldn't have any short of normal wear and tear. And I totally agree with you about grease. I will pay more money to get a better grease. It's a small price to pay for more protection. And being a master diesel mechanic. Your going to break bolts, no matter what. And it's most likely to do it in the hitch. That's got the most movement and sheering possibly because of how much they move. Most people would be surprised on double bottom gravel haul trucks, how many have cracks in their frames. And that's double 1/4 in plate formed steel. Just think of the stress it has to have to crack frames. Keep up the great videos Wes. I really enjoy watching them even though I'm not a farmer.
Just discovered your channel. Watched a vid from a few years ago where you're pulling a tractor/baler out of the mud. Your vids are excellent. I'm a retired paramedic currently living out a boyhood dream driving a semi around Canada & the U.S. I grew up around farms and have always been interested in the farming lifestyle. Your vids are a joy to watch. Love your commentary. Full of interesting detail and opinion. I've driven around a fair chunk of your state. Have to say that yours, Ohio and Colorado are presently my favorites. Stay safe, God bless.
Well said. I get those same constant questions, why don't u do this or do that. It all boils down to different strokes for different folks and what works for me may not work for you. Farming and logging are a lot alike, every area every field every region is different, farms are different, tracts of timber are different the buyers are all different. You gotta figure out what works, what makes money in ur area and in ur situation and go with it and that is exactly what you do and what we do here. Great video Wes!
Wes I totally agree with you on your choice of equipment you know your land like no one else you know what works for you, you seem to be doing pretty good.
Liked this vid format for a change. Rather relaxing. I like tuning in because I know next to nothing about farming. So, it is all a new experience for me. I'm a retired manufacturing/tooling/design engineer from the auto industry. Parts are parts. Its all in how you use and abuse them.
Thanks for today's video Wes. I don't have knowledge of balers, but I believe the Krone was an excellent purchase for your operation. I hope you'll send us some video from jolly ole England when you go.
I really like listening and learning about your business, and why you make some of the choices you do. Great video Wes, glad you took the time to make it.
Love your videos. I wasn't gonna get out of bed today but then I saw this and was motivated to get up and clean my windows. I pretend I am you and then stuff automatically gets done! I am wes I am a machine, I can go and go and do anything that needs to be done. I am the man!!!!
Since watching you talking about balers Wes, I've noticed them around here this harvest time. Nearly all have been green with Big Pack written on the side. While out on the Nuffield last week I saw one working. Would have stopped for a chat to see how they liked it, but didn't have a camera with me.
I agree the Krone seems to be the best fit for you. The windrower also is a better fit also. One machine to keep up plus the way you cut in multiple place it's got to be easier to move to a new location. I'm not a farmer but grew up on one and though not the size you deal with I still understand where you come from with the way you handle things. Great channel great videos. Keep them coming.
Krone equipment has made a positive change to my lifestyle. We've replaced NewHolland and Kuhn with it. Our fields are cleaner and have virtually eliminated downtime. Five years with the same mower and only changed knives on it. After covering five thousand acres I think that's pretty good. Krone makes a twenty foot pull type mower that swivels straight for roading . I don't know if it would gain efficiency over a windrower though.
Great video! Love this style with a talk over the show. Btw, it must have been dead flat calm that day. I don't think the clouds hardly moved even in high speed.
Hey Wes. I must say i REALLY liked the new format you tried here in this video!. Next you should do a story/anecdote video because we know you are full of them. Perhaps in the future.Just a thought. Why not film more vids like this and save them to the winter when you have more time to do calm talking videos and still have farm work footage to go along with it.
when we ran our triple pottinger we had to modify a new holland TR95 just to run the thing. at the time we ran a massey baler (i forget the model) which never worked right and broke cords all the time. although we were able to cut a 40 foot swath (at 17 miles an hour at times) we weren't able to see much of what was underneath and my brother ran into a main waterline which the county said we had to fix and were shut down for a week. the other farmer we helped out used his krone baler as payment. he was the only reason we came close to finishing our 2015 season.
First cutting clear into September? I guess things here in the west are much different. This brings up all kinds of questions. Who are your customers (industry type). If this hay is for feed, does it not lose nutritional value while it is still standing and dying/drying? What about the seed, do you not lose a lot of the seed to fall off while it is still standing? Here in Oregon (not too far from where you bought the head) we will have three cuttings, and on the east side of the state and has irrigation, four cuttings by seasons end. Here in Grass seed country, it is odd to see grass standing then harvested clear into late August. There are so many questions I have but I will keep watching and learn how east coasters do things.
I have watched many of your videos ,, I am at around 300 something on your over 1500 videos ,, I think you made the right choice with the Krone ,, The amount of hay bales you make and from what I have seen sofar your Krone can do it ,, looks like maybe $20k maintenance a year? Cool thing is Krone and your dealer are working with you to make that cost lower,, for you and every Krone baler owner,, Krone seems to really want to make the best on the market ,, and you seem to be the best to push it every season to it's max ,, you may need to buy another one , just to help keep up on your farming ,, 2017 I think will be a great year for you ,, maybe to much
Who the "heck" (toned down for sensitive butthurt racoon viewers) to comment on how you do business and what equipment you use . I don't own a farm or do any of the work that you do on a daily basis, but I still love your videos. I find them to be about life lessons . When something breaks you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and fix it and keep going. When a real emergency happens these people will lose their minds. Keep up the great work !!
Its nice to see you finally in a Krone. NH balers almost seem like they are designed in a different decade. Its pretty sad. I have a Bigpack 1290 and ill never buy any thing different. We did 7000 tons of Straw baling this year and the Krone baler was down for 2 hours the whole year. Those Germans know their stuff.
I don't intend to be a troll i do really enjoy your videos and i have been a follower the past two years. i do agree with most of what you say but i truly have to disagree with you about your baler. I'm from Idaho the second largest alfalfa producing state. also the second most user of irrigated water. We're known for heavy everything as far as crops. My father and I custom just over 9,000 acres of Alfalfa, 6,000 bales of wheat straw, 1,000 bales of Barley, teff grass, and corn stalk straws. when we started out we had a Heston 4790 3x4 baler. good but not great we heard about krone and bought one. it was a great baler for alfalfa and that was it after two years when the warranty ran out we lost the stuffer rotor gear box and a yoke for the knotter system within the next week after the other was fixed. these where costly which sent us back to Heston we bought 2 brand new 2270 Massey balers weave put about 15,000 bales through both balers in 2 years and still counting. we have had very minimal issues and they are the most bought baler in our area also in the USA. So i guess what I'm wishing is for you to put one side by side in heavy crop and you'll see it will compete with the krone now the standard 2270 wont make as dense of a bale but the XD model will.
I am 16 and i ran a krone big m 420 on a small couple acre field and i was suprised about how it was to mow with. like you said I thought it would be a hassle but it wasn't too bad. you can use the windshield wiper and step ladder for where the edge of the mowers are and then you just watch ahead for rocks. it's pretty easy controls too.
Great video Wes!!!! Your right its hard to put all your eggs in one basket! Your right better to have two running an on still running if one goes down!! Fifteen feet is doable on roads but a pain when their is traffic an stupid drivers!!
Hey Wes, you are talking about thousands of acres of hay so tell us/me how many acres we are cutting this year. I am just curious and nothing else. I'm proud that it seems you have made a good choice with the Krone baler and it has stood up mightily.
I'm not a farmer, but it always seemed to me that the Big M was made for bigger fields than you mow. Probably flatter, too. They do have a nice disconnect mechanism for the cutters. My 60" brush cutter doesn't qualify me to have an opinion, though. lol
I'd have to say man that was awesome it was was like a mini movie with commentary very cool and i seen the broken bolt on instagram and the only thing that came to mine was oops shit like that happens when your in rough fields. lookin forward to the next one man
Yeah it was a nice change for sure or just give us some GoPro footage from the pov of the driver of the windrower and talk to us about farming. I like all the pandy videos
regarding the tripple mowers there's possibly just a single solution that would work for you, wes: use a Fendt with a reverse driving unit and put all 3 mowers in the back which is - when reversed - of course your front. you would have all 3 mowers in front of you, the radiator in the back (plus the newer Fendts have a reverse cooling fan auto-cleaning feature for the radiator) and the option to add a few more hp to the krone when buying a new / replacement tractor. downside of course is hooking/unhooking the mower and not being able to mow and bale at the same time. oh, and it wouldn't be a JD :-/ but besides that you could probably save almost half your mowing time or do the same amount of work with just one machine you now use both windrowers for.
the frames of some of the butterfly mowers on the rear allow for you to hook up the opposite end, you mount the front mower on the part you would have hooked the tractor to on the other side.
that's a bad idea. running 2 15ft windrowers is the best option for wes. in NJ the fields are small 20-50 acres so they are driving on the road alot from field to field plus if one machine breaks down the other one will still be out there working.
well that's exactly why I'd go with a Fendt: you can travel down the road with up to 60 kph = 37 mph and switching from forward to reverse can be done in 5-10 secs. they have a pretty convenient construction, with just a few moves you turn the entire cabin interior around including all pedals, steering wheel, controls. however having two separate machines means less risk, as you say. but if his 8120 or the krone breaks down, his operation will also come to a stop. if it takes a little longer to fix it, there's actually no sense in mowing any further acres. but in the end there are always pros and cons to every solution and there's probably not that one single perfect solution ;-)
One of your better videos!! enjoy them all, but especially like this format. You're clear and we get the pleasant scenery as well! Well done!!! do you really read them all?
Most people I see talking trash about the Krone bailer aren't taking into consideration the volume of OLF operation I'm thinking. That's a huge amount of big bails, most guys don't even do that many small bails in a season.
Was I right when I said Wes would be like a dog with two dicks ( more than satisfied) with the Krone baler once he started baling with it? I know Wes says he had looked at and knew all about Krone balers before many of urged him to take a thorough look at them, only problem is he forgets what he said in his video dated Nov 16, 2015 where he says at the 11.34 mark he's really thrilled because this is the first time he has been up close and personal to the Krone baler!
Yes You did say that, and for me it was a bitter tablet to swallow that the NH BB340 pull on the short end, me also have to acknowledge that Krone is tops. Lucky for me the Big Pack is the ugliest lol
Jan Kotze I just knew from all my research from reading and listening to many Krone owners that nothing could come even close to the Krone baler in durability or performance, just out of curiosity why do you find the Krone ugly? Jan I tell you what people globally should be very concerned with what's written in this article 'Russia Update: Now Mobilization of 300,000 TROOPS! www.mydailyinformer.com/russia-update-now-mobilization-of-300000-troops/ And this news about America! Chaos will erupt across America in less than 100 days... no matter who wins the election! www.naturalnews.com/055146_social_chaos_election_results_popular_revolt.html
I know equipment are not build for beauty but brutal strength, performance and quality, the ugly part is, it is out of proportion, the wheels sits far at the back, the long tail looks awful and the fat bulky body, together it is just crazy ugly and even the colour is so dull, would you buy a ugly car? egg Japanese cars are good products but man they run out of designs and just make the front lights bigger and higher, you first see knobby lights and then the car, will NEVER buy one. I like machinery a lot and it is expensive, so I am crazy and want something beautiful as well.
Jan Kotze Jan, from you've said I take it that you would rather have a skinny pretty girl that's a real dud fuck than a biggest plain girl that is an amazing mind blowing fuck?
hey man... I'm no troll, even if sometimes I come off as one!.. I enjoy your videos, I learn from your channel.. so sorry for being a ass hat every now and again.... cheers Wes!
