Good morning mate, just shows the old machinery still does the job.it was nice to watch .I watch a guy his channel on you tube is called 'just a few acres' all his machinery is vintage and he does very well .take care and thanks for another great bit of content 👍
Nothing better than watching a funky farmer video, with a nice cold glass of pure cows milk. loving the old massey, shows the old ones are as good as the newer ones
Good video Richard the old Massey's are great we have 3 of them on our small farm they're like a woman's voice if they're looked after they never wear out👍
Listening or atleast trying to listen to you in the tractor reminds me of when I was a kid helping out a few of the old fellas that would be making hay, half the time you have no idea what they are saying when the tractor is running full tilt and you just smile, nod and say yes
Weirdly I have been hoping to see the mighty MF265 in mowing action a long time! Finally 😂 Enjoyed watching this with a pint of milk and some bacon! Love seeing old kit still beeing kept and worked with
@@bencarter2334 My experience of a Massey was an old 185 did most of our farm work at that time and they were a good old work horse never gave abit of trouble I look at these modern tractors these days yea lovely to look at but you would need a degree in computers to drive them haha.
Hello from Ireland great job love the 265 if you are considering a new mower give a look at newholland they youst to be PZ a neighbour of ours has one 3 years 0% as far as I know
No matter how heavy or light is .. its still better than a snowball christmas day ..🤣.. machinery like that built what we have today .. and it gave less trouble ..
Those blades are used on more drummowers. They look pretty similar to the blades I have on our Pottinger Cat, and they came in a Kuhn box from our Pottinger dealer :P. Also, you are right about blades and safety, but to swap the blades on the mower I have to let the tractor run, cuz when I turn it off the lift goes down, he did that from new. So in this case it's safer to let the motor run, strangely enough..
Richard you do a great job with the farm and the boys old or new you get the job done I watch every video and they just get better .the MF will be going in 20 years time good tractor 🚜 see you on the next video CRACK ON !! PLOP MASTER
Great to see the bomb proof Massey and deutz mower still earning no their place on the farm, you go and buy a pottinger drum mower for 6 to 8 k and that 40 year old fahr mower will still out last it. Crack on funky farmer
I do love the 265 it's nice to see it sometimes you realise the importance of having the old girl sitting in the corner I'd love to find one in as good a condition the McCormicks won't be going at that age
Interesting vlog. I showed my mum your RU-vid channel and Farmer P's.. Sorry to say this but mum thought Ian was younger than you . I suppose it's because you work harder Richard and your well weathered. Maybe you need some M&M peanuts to help you .
Great to see the old kit working, From a business point of view though, does it not make more sense to get the contractor to mow aswell, i understand it means you are not waiting about for them to do it, but we found it aloud us to do other jobs that otherwise wouldnt get done, love the channel keep it up
Richard, you should NOT change the knives side to side. The angle of the blade is different for right and left blades. The little bevel at the edge can go up or down. So just flip the blade on the side. DO not switch them side to side. You want the angle of the main part of the blade to lift the crop like your lawn mower blade. If you switch them side to side your pushing the crop down. In good standing grass you can get away it. In down crop you will see the difference. P.S. In your earlier mower video I left you a comment on mower recommendations.
@@thefunkyfarmer If the two drums turn in the same direction then they would be the same. I am more used to disk mowers than they have clock wise and counter-clock wise rotations. So there are left and right knives. The way to tell is the angle should lift the crop as it cuts.
Richard, I think your expression "I've got a hell of a crop of grass!" will be just as famous as Arnold Schwarzenegger's "I'll be baaaaaack!" P.S. Hubby wears the t-shirt while mowing...
Thats a good crop of grass!!! Mr cornock, whats your feeling on not buying a new mower and just getting the contractors to do it for you.if you was to way up the price of what you have to pay on maintenance and fuel
Hi, Check ebay. If you can afford it, there looks like a good Vicon second hand for around £3500 with a conditioner on. I have an older Vicon, and a great tool. Folds up hydraulically. Easy to use, I have found. That grass could have been fit for hay in 48 hours max. I have even had hay for round bales in 24 hours.
Nice looking crop Richard. Out of interest, how much longer did it take using that mower compared to the one which is waitng for repair? It would be interesting (for me) to compare the very old, with not as old, then, against the new one when you get it. Just curiosity.
Old gear still doing the job, for now lol, I think you made a mistake by not putting the desired amount of nitrogen on the grass for second cut, here's my thinking (old retired farmer), you will have less feed for winter, yes? because so many might be doing the same with nitrogen, less feed hay/silage, available for sale, prices will have skyrocketed due to input cost, fuel ect ect. So in the end and I hope I'm wrong, it will end up costing you more than you saved. Good luck, you might be delaying the mower purchase, maybe you can borrow Farmer P's mower ? lol
