In the first episode moxie talks about they shouldn't kill an innocent family and he says that killing a shitty dad or a mob family is understandable. Pretty cool foreshadowing about his father
The imp young Moxxie pushed out of the boat wasn't his mom, because you can see from what was left of the horns that it was a male imp(thick white and black stripes, instead of the mostly black with thin white stripes of females).
The tail's also different, but the horns cinch that it's not even a female imp. ...Crimson almost certainly killed her, or had her killed earlier though.
Id like to think she was killed a bit after she left. Or else i feel she would've come back for moxxie or maybe she tried to get her baby and was drowned as a result. Not a pretty sight
The only thing that goes against that is that the person is saying "Moxxie, I love you." So either it was an animation error and that was supposed to be his mom or Moxxies dad made that person say it to make Moxxie believe he did it. I'm gonna go with the latter because it makes sense. That's probably why the demons face is covered and his horns are sawn off, so Moxxie would have difficulty in telling if that was his mother or not.
@@FourDozenEggs I don't think that's what the imp is saying, they're gagged but to me it sounds more like they're repeating "let me go". Crimson seems to always cut off the horns to keep them as trophies. The face covering is probably part of the usual procedure too, because you can see another bag with a smiley face drawn on it in the water.
Moxxie did not kill his mom. One, the imp he was forced to shove into the water is a male, white markings on tail when his mother only had 3 white speckles, and the shoe was way far from the boat.
I agree. He probably had her whacked right after slapping her. The mom's shoe was probably on the bottom and floated up when the new body's descent displaced it. All the same, forcing a kid to murder someone and damaging them like that is pretty fucked up for sure.
It kills me every time to hear Crimson say "A man can change and so has Chaz" To me, he is just politely saying he does not see Chaz or his son as men.
There's actually kind of an interesting moment in the episode that caught my attention on a second viewing. It's when the group goes back into the dining room, just before Moxxie gets knocked out. Notice Chaz attempting to sit in the first chair, but Crim angrily gesturing for him to sit in a different spot. It's kind of a blink-and-you'll miss it moment, but it does offer up, I think, a bit of an interesting insight into Crimson. It's pretty obvious that Crimson isn't exactly... proud of his son, Moxxie. Yet, despite that... there are some indications that Crim, despite his very toxic ways of showing it, does have some level of parental affection for Moxxie. He was, twisted as it might be, trying to induct his son into the family business, the various flash backs showing that. Then of course there's the fact that, despite Moxxie having basically bailed on the family after his arrest (something that rarely went unpunished in actual mobster families)... Crimson never went after him, despite obviously knowing exactly where he was since he could arrange transportation for them. And that brings me back to that small little moment. Chaz was about to sit in the chair on, from an onlooker's perspective, Crimson's 'Right' side. And Crimson immediately gestures for him to instead sit in a different spot, because that seat belonged to Moxxie. It was Moxxie's chair, the spot he sat in in all the flashbacks, and despite the obvious issues between the two, Crimson still I think has, or rather _had_ some level of... I don't want to say love, because that ain't it... but respect for his son, enough at least to keep giving Moxxie chances until Moxxie pretty much burned that bridge for good. Maybe it's just me and I'm reading too much into it... but in animation things like that are almost *always* something, because they had to specifically animate that, which would be a waste if it wasn't important in some way. (Also, don't get me wrong, this is not some kind of "Crimson is a good dad" kind of post. Just an interesting observation into Crimson's mindset and the value he places in family, twisted and psychotic it may be)
There's actually a theory on another video pointing out things you may have missed in this episode that Crimson actually spiked Moxxie's drink which is why he's making Chaz sit somewhere else. Kind of messed up, but sadly makes sense.
@@glowworm2 Definitely a possibility as well, and one I wouldn't discount since it definitely seems like something Crimson would do. But at the same time I do think it kind of falls apart a bit given that he had no issue with just having his goon taze Moxxie anyways. I think Crim was still pretty sure that Moxxie would just cave in to him, since that's what Moxxie has done through most of the episode, so spiking the drink feels like it would have been unnecessary. But it's definitely still a possibility. But I would still offer up my theory as well, and again we do see Crimson, in his own screwed up way, try to meet Moxxie half-way, what with his whole 'Fill the House with Dildos' thing. Sure, it's incredibly insensitive, but he really had no other reason to do it beyond his own ignorant attempt at trying to at least somewhat appeal to his son, Moxxie. He definitely didn't do it for Chaz, since he made it quite clear he hated him and was only doing any of this for the money, and once he'd gotten it (if Chaz had actually had it), he probably would have just had Chaz killed anyways. Plus, if it was just about the drink, that seems like something that would have been shown being done just prior, since if that had been the intention then it should have been shown more concisely (either him or a Maid briefly putting something into the drink, for example). But what we see is Crim being insistent that Chaz shouldn't sit there because he obviously wanted Moxxie to, and it was Moxxie's seat which we saw in the flashbacks, so the seat itself has some significance. The spiked drink idea isn't even a theory, it's a hypothesis based on no present evidence, just speculation. Not outside the realm of possibility, certainly, but also not actually supported in any way in the actual episode.
@@DelightfullyMADD I really hope the prior speculation is true about the respect for his son. The spiking concept does have its place given they're the mafia. I wouldn't even know how it would help Crimson to spike the coffee unless it was to fall in love or something, and I don't think he'd want that with the shark he dislikes. Might be even a stretch to have such a thing work without any foreshadowing. To put that detail of his attitude towards the seat, without any drugging or pouring shot of that very cup? Only things that have that theory out in the open was the fact they were the only two out of the three to have drinks, and Crimson was staring into the drink as if to encourage it. The context could still be flipped to him caring more about his son than Chaz. The coffee fits more along the lines of still providing for his son like when they flashbacked to just Moxxie and the Father. Moxxie still had things to eat, and I suppose Crimson saw all his abuse as the better way to raise a strong man (supposedly himself). I do see his teeny bit of compassion for Moxxie till the end, which I think is intertwined with how the mother left them. With loved ones, Crimson either has them or no one does. Also that makes me think further into why he makes Chaz sit in the mother's seat. He doesn't give a hoot about her anymore.
Agreed, I liked that detail too. Even if Chaz marries into the family, Crimson ain't treating him like his son. Chaz is just another person he can throw away like Moxxie's mother. Also the line "Moxxie I raised you better than that" shows Moxxie's value to him, albeit very little and narcissistic and controlling, is still there and that Moxxie matters more than his mom, Chaz, and any guards. Him joking he only lets Moxxie call him Daddy LOL, and the common straight parent surface-level support of lgbt 💀 Crimson is business minded. For whatever Moxxie's worth at least, I can't wait to find out.
@@Wildash While the spiking would make sense from a mafia standpoint, from a narrative and storytelling standpoint in the episode I don't think it holds up. This is a visual medium, and damn near _no_ attention or focus was given to the cups of coffee at all, nor was there any single moment where there was some tension as to whether or not Moxxie was about to drink the coffee then doesn't. Simply put... I don't think the spiked drink theory holds any real merit simply because, if it had been the case in the story, some level of focus or attention would have been given in order to clue us, the audience, in to the fact that the cup of coffee was important somehow. But we got nothing of the sort. Now, to those who say that Crimson respects his son Moxxie... that's not entirely what my original post was trying to convey, but I definitely didn't word it quite correctly. I think, more to the point... Crimson is _possessive_ of his son. Kind of a "I'll beat the crap out of him for back talk, and kill him if he ever crosses me... but don't anyone else _DARE_ to touch _MY_ son, or I'll hang their teeth on the wall!" kind of care. Crimson _is_ an Imp from Greed Ring after all... so it would make sense he would view Moxxie in such a way, and again, there is a twisted sort of familial affection... but very very twisted.
"You know I checked the scale today, (INHALE) And I lost 2 pounds. I AM NOT FAT!", And also did anyone else notice that moxxie and crimson say "THANGGG" the same way? Like father like son.
We need a Millie-Themed Episode, right now she's like Moxxie's +1, even in the episode where we meet her family it's more about Moxxie. We know she's good at fighting but I hope we get some background/depth/character study on her. She's the most underutilized/fleshed-out main character on the show.
That's wild, this is actually my favorite episode of the season so far. Thought it was a big uptick in pacing and animation, plus I just loved Chazz as this one note joke.
@Calxiyn A lot of people wanted to see Millie's backstory with Chaz. Your other criticisms with this episode were quite weird tho - the humor wasn't that different from the comedy we get in most of the episodes Also, this episode is NOT FILLER at all
Interestingly, I can understand why they both banged Chazz. For Moxie, it was the first real decision he made for himself... albiet a poor one, but who doesn't make mistakes as a teenager/young adult? Similarly with Millie. Millie has a thing for sensitive guys. Shes a strong, independent badass of a woman, what she needs is love and affection from her SO... Chazz seems like he can pull it off a decent bit... well until his pants come off... From his tryst with Blitzo, he is a very selfish lover. Maybe that's what pisses Millie off. The fact that he could have convinced her that he's what Moxie is, but ends up just using her for some easy fun.
This reinforces my appreciation of how my comfort in regards to being alone makes complete sense to me. I think the two of you work well together. I don’t see myself as a “couple” person, even though I want to be one.
I understand where Cal is coming from with the jokes being the last thing on the creators' minds cuz whenever there's a serious moment, it's immediately followed by humor. It changed the tone of what is supposed to be serious.
I've noticed that each episode this season so far has had a flashback of a character meeting Blitzo. Stolas in episode 1, Luna in episode 2, and Moxxie in this episode. My bet is the next one will be a Millie centered episode with a flashback of her meeting Blitzo.
I hope so! Like un-ironically I hope it’s interesting to watch us theorize as people who JUST watch the show Vs people who are super into all the external material to see how different the conclusions are
There was literally nothing wrong with the episode, lol. And yeah, it didn't show how Chazz and Millie got together because this is about Moxxie. This episode answered a LOT of questions people had about Moxxie, like who he really is, how he got into I.M.P, why he's so against hurting families, who his family is, and where he came from. We'll likely have an episode in the future going over some of Millie's background too. At least a little more than what we got from the Harvest Moon Festival, which really wasn't a LOT. The episodes are only about 20-25 minutes long, so you can't have everything in one sitting. I really think recent anime and other series have kinda pushed what makes a villain or antagonist too far, not every antagonist needs some huge drawn out reason why they should be liked or hated. A character as an antagonist can be unlikable without there needing to be some kind of thesis paper on why. Chazz fits that perfectly. Yeah, he's cringe, yeah, he's obnoxious, but this is Hell, where most creatures that live down there probably get next to nothing in terms of companionship, and pick-up artists like that probably thrive. It would seem to me that Millie likely scares away most folks there considering her violent tendencies, and being from Wrath. So most people there are probably too afraid to even approach, and Chazz comes out there and has no problem with her because it's the most attention anyone's really given her.
Hello Calxiyn and Hunter. I'm so happy to see your both reaction to the Helluva Boss again. I miss you both so much. You two make my day a wonderful day 🥰😍😘 and this episode... I'm really sorry for Moxxie and his mother... And I like 😭😭😭😭😭
Just to clarify, Blitz is established to be pansexual, not bi. Also, to add to how shitty Chaz is, just imagine that he dated Millie however briefly WHILE Moxxie was in prison because of him.
Just as a quick brain re-jogging Imps are native to all the rings and there are various species that can travel between them such as Succubus like Verosika, Hellhounds like Loona, and these weird shark guys who we thought were from the Envy ring since there’s water there apparently But loan sharks in Greed makes sense too. Sinners, like the entire cast of Hazbin Hotel minus Charlie are trapped in Pride ring where I.M.P, Blitzø’s company and building is located since their clients are usually Sinners asking to kill people who are still alive.
I absolutely adore the wedding song. I feel like that type of country (dark country) is superb for dark souls (Also look up Dorothy band. Especially the song by Dorothy Rest in Peace. Such a great revenge/peace song). But I need the wedding song from HB just in everything. This would be amazing with electric or acoustic violin 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Well we know Chazz was Moxxie's first so he didn't know any better. I think we can assume it was the same for Millie. They can tell he's a cowardly douchebag now since they've both experienced having a dependable partner.
14:39 it wasn't the mom. the victim had thick white stripes on his horns, which is what male imps have. female imps have horns with thin white stripes like millie
Crimson said, "This family NEEDS that money" not "This family could use that money." I wonder what is going on? Is Crimson in a financial jam? Who would he be scared of if that is true?
I’ll bet Crimson’s voice was originally intended for Gilbert Gottfried had he not passed away in 2022. That would’ve been some 1992 Aladdin reunion. We got Broadway Genie, Jafar, and what would’ve been Iago. Tragic.
this episode was fun, i really enjoyed blitz, his look is fantastic. millie really"killed" it at the end lol. yes it was crass but this is heluvaboss, what do you expect lol.
I wouldn't say Crimson is homophobic per say but he's more of simoly ignorant by choice....He just doesn't care....if he did care this episode would've gone by much more badly he just....Simply in my opinion has other shit to think about
Idk, I think humour in helluva boss was always like this hahaha Like, half of the jokes are cringe, and the other half is actually good (while still being cringe at times lol) Love the series btw, no hate
18:50 cHILL THE FUCK _OUUT_ I'm looking for someone to mention it I mean he's seemed kinda interested since episode 2 with that "let's threewayy 21:06 lol I was a lil surprised Moxx didn’t notice since he was staring at his dad 22:44 i have to marvel at it cause i thought their bodies would be...not tissue paper? More durable than humans 😂 though i guess if I look at it like that, then her arm did break relatively easily? (Ah but Striker when she attacked him) 23:05 his smile looks even wider though it's pre-drawn
can't speak for why millie dated him but it kind of clear reason moxie was into him was he had no loving feeling growing up thanks to his dad so he jump in with frist person who show any kind of love
Guys guys guys! Please learn to speak in turns!!!! At the end when you BOTH SPEAK it is barely listenable and I did not understand HALF of what you said!
I’m team Hunter on this episode. I understand crude humor isn’t everyone’s thing but honestly an a nonbinary pansexual in a polycule relationship it takes a lot to offend me. 😂
