Every professional bass fisherman has a tournament that defines and catapults their career. For Jim Moynagh, it was the 1997 FLW Forrest Wood Open on his home waters of Lake Minnetonka. Watch as we take a step back in time and see how the Minnesota pro took the $200,000 first place prize and finds nostalgia looking back at this turning point in his career.

Awesome video. Really enjoyed seeing all those photos through the years at the end. I live close by Tonka and fish it at least once a week, I'm not the best but it's cool to see the legends that have come from around here.

I remember this like it was yesterday. This was about the same time I got heavy into tournament fishing. Some of the FLW events were the best. Moynaugh will always be remembered as the king of the football jig. First time I saw it was this tournament.

Great to see this video. I was working at thorne bros. At the time building rods and we were pulling for Jim to win that one. A good long career Jim and still pulling for you. Good work on the Potomac and stone lake. All terrain jigs are awesome jigs and have been loaded on them ever since. It was great to see that old footage of that tournament. Tha nk you.

I'm old enough to remember the FW Open. After watching some parts of it came back to me. It is even harder to stay in the top for 4 days and rezero weights. There were some real sticks and hammers you had to compete with. This was a great victory and looks like you made good decisions. You have had a good career and don't let anyone tell you can't still beat these guys. Didn't follow you till youtube and your videos are good because they show you behind the scenes and you describe each tournament wrap up info of baits and how it played out. Good Luck.

For me, Jim jumped on the scene in the early 90's when he won a locally supported tournament on 'tonka. I can't recall the name. Believe it was sponsored by a local tv personality. It was a big deal when this long haired kid came out of nowhere to win. I have the VHS tape somewhere. Living in WI, Minnetonka was a destination lake for us. After Jim won that tournament I drug plenty of A-T jigs across deep rockpiles. Thanks for putting this together.
