Actually the words of this are slightly different "unda fluxit et sanguine"

this one is actually a little different than many of the older chants. This is what's called a motet; a much more contemporary piece of Mozart work. Still an excellent traditional piece to use in the Mass though

What is an "extraordinary form of mass" ? Isn't the mass for everybody, all ordinary people?

@@Ernesto7608 the extraordinary form of the mass is the Tridetine mass, the mass of the ages, the way mass was said all over the world before Vatican II. The ordinary form is the Novus Ordo or the New Mass which is the mass you attend today in the vernacular. The extraordinary form is the preferred and most reverent way to worship Jesus our Lord.

because Novus Ordo is the standard form of Mass now, so the Pope celebrates it. Very simple, rad trad

@@AG-tv5hs Actually, you're right, the tempo gets right with the choir after one or 2 bars. I was mistaken by the organ introduction. The choirmaster then did a good job to move from the slow pace of the introduction to the correct pace of the singing in such a smooth manner that I didn't notice.

@@Cantor131 The organist and the choirmaster were surely in agreement on the tempos of the whole piece, the slow introduction not detracting from the beauty of the composition. And where you get that the St. Peter's Basilica has a "jazz organ"? The organ register used here seems to be a correct one.

@@Ernesto7608 I wrote "jazz organ" because of the vibrato. It is not technically accurate, but that's how I felt it.

Jesus, who is truly present in the Eucharist is the one Who gives the Mass its sense and meaning. Mozart's song gives glory and honor to Him, who is adored in the Most Holy Eucharist.
