Mozart Concertos for 2 & 3 pianos (Barenboim, Schiff, Solti) 1989 

Sir Georg Solti with the energy of a young fella... incredible

I have heard Barenboim play Mozart with Argerich,that was the concert of my life.

It's almost like they forgot that everyone is there ...they are so lost in the music.Really beautiful.

My brother, Bob, had Solti Gardens built in Chicago's Grant Park across Michigan Ave from the CSO to honor Maestro Sir Georg Solti, the number one Grammy winner and conductor of the world's greatest symphony orchestra, the CSO. Bob got to know Lady Valerie Solti very well, and she's a wonderful woman. She gave him a limited edition (15 total) Solti Mont Blanc fountain pen, and pencil set with Sir Georg's signature in red on a black pen, and pencil. It's quite beautiful. I happened at that time to come across a course catalog for the famous School of Design which started out in the Streeterville area of Chicago in 1939 under Sir Georg's cousin, László Moholy-Nagy, and the course catalog itself was a work of beautiful art. It may be the only catalog remaining in existence. In 1949 the School of Design became part of the Illinois Institute of Technolgy. I was aware of Nagy but I did not know he was a cousin of Solt until Lady Solti mentioned it. I was going to donate the course catalog to the Art Institute of Chicago but professional culture vultures can be weird, arrogant pains in the ass, so instead I gave it to Lady Solt. Bob, and I did get to know Deborah Rutter who was the CEO of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She is the most amazing, humble, beautiful person. She literally talked Ricardo Muti out of retirement to lead the CSO for a time after Barenboim had led it. She moved on to the Kennedy Center after the CSO. This performance by two then by three piano virtuosi is wondeful.

Basmati rice, Salmon & Salad is perfect food for my body, Barenboim, Schiff & Solti is the perfect enjoyment for my mind!

Oh, to have been present on the occasion of this concert at the Royal Festival Hall in 1989! 3 maestros in perfect harmony. Sir Georg Solti ever the refined gentilhomme!

I am familiar with Barenboim as cellist Jacqueline du Pre’s husband and sometimes accompanists, and Solti as a conductor, but not as a pianist. I don’t remember when my mom bought me my first Andras Schiff vinyl album, probably in the 1970’s as I was taking piano lessons, again, as music minor in college. I had learned in first grade, but had quit after my first recital because the teacher took me from an upright to a grand piano in an unfamiliar setting with strange people in the audience, sigh. And mom was trying to get me enthusiastic by giving me a Schiff record. He was indeed an inspiration, but I remained loyal to my cello which I had started in 6th grade, hence my du Pre enthusiasm. I have resumed playing piano, and Mozart, and have my old vinyl records and CDs out and listening to Schiff’s solo piano. Schiff’s wonderful technical skills and musicality make Mozart sing. Sir George is no slouch either.

I wonder if this happens to others. Classical music, it doesn't matter who, alleviates my headaches, if I put some on to listen and lay back with eyes closed. Works everytime! It could put Tylenol out of business!

This is the most beautiful performance of Mozart two pianos composition ! The whole group become one of harmonized spiritual oneness team. I am very happy to have this time carefully listened the detail of control and have fully reflected Mozart talent and Humanity music civilization.

Bravi! What a treat, from the not-too-distant past. I had never seen/heard Sir Georg at the piano before, and of course he acquitted himself splendidly. My only reservation is how YT placed a commercial for a constipation remedy right in the middle of a particularly beautiful passage. Sadly, this otherwise commendable site is flush with this kind of randomly-placed ads.

El duo Ashkenazy-Barenboim es dificilmente superable en el doble concierto. La incorporacion de Schiff en el triple perfecciona el equilibrio sonoro de una interpretacion,en general, bella.

Legends performing. I have the vinyl recording under the dearly departed Angel label. Proceeds went to various charities. This is the Vienna 1783? version of this concerto K. 365. Mozart added drums, clarinets and trumpets. When Mozart dumped Salzburg for Vienna, he revised many of his works, this included expanded orchestrations of previously composed works. Another example, would be Symphony No. 34. K.338. the revision to that work, he added the minuet In C Major K. 408.
