What a genius Mozart was. He was only 35 when he died, I've often wondered what he would have gone on to compose had he lived another, say , 30 years. Astonishing how much great music he wrote in such a short space of time.

I listened to Mozart from a very young age as well. I remember my mom having 3 DVDs of classical music when I was a child, probably since before I was born. I don’t remember what disks they were exactly or who made the disks, but I remember there being 1 disk for Beethoven, one for Bach, and one for Mozart. And I’m pretty sure the Mozart disk was yellow if memory serves me right. I don’t know if it had this overture on there or not, but I do remember K 545 and many other well known works being on there. And I’m sure I’ve heard this overture at least since I was 9, cause that’s when I really got serious about classical music as a listener. Yeah, I had to have, cause not only did I have those disks, but I also had RU-vid on my computer, and whenever I was in the car with my mom, she would set the radio, if it wasn’t already on there, to WOSU’s NPR Classical Music and there’d be all kinds of pieces played, familiar and unfamiliar, by composers I have and haven’t heard of. And I remember listening to the piano puzzler that would come on at a certain time on that radio channel. But yeah, I was raised on classical music, and Mozart and Chopin used to be my 2 favorite composers as a child. I’d often switch back and forth between being in more of a Chopin mood and being in more of a Mozart mood. I would binge listen to Mozart like crazy at times, like listening to all the symphonies in chronological order, all the string quartets in chronological order etc. I’ve probably heard more Mozart than I have any other composer in terms of piece count, cause I’ve easily heard over 100 Mozart pieces and I’m not even at that point with Beethoven yet. I still highly regard Mozart and love his music very much, even after Beethoven went from the bottom to the top for me as a teenager. Beethoven may be #1 for me now, but if I was to make a personal top composers list, Mozart would be #2.
@SophisticatedLunatic
@SophisticatedLunatic 12 лет назад
When Johannes Brahms heard this as a teenager, he said: "I have never heard anything like this! It's divine!" I, too, heard this and listened to this as a teenager. Now, in the old, lofty age of 20, I'm still listening and thinking it's absolutely divine. Amen.

I once heard a story....I'm sure it's been romanticized. Mozart apparently "forgot" to write an overture for this opera, and was only reminded of it an hour before its debut, by the conductor of that first performance. The story went on to say that he wrote this incredible piece of music in 15 minutes. Can this POSSIBLY be true ? If it is, then he simply WAS the single greatest artist, in any medium, of all time....
@nlhn638
@nlhn638 Год назад
I would believe it. His friends asked him what he was gonna play, or what it was going to be like, when they were in a bar some days before the concert. Mozart had no idea; he hadn’t even started writing yet. The night before the concert, he pulled an all nighter while his wife kept his awake and made many cups of coffee. His orchestra didn’t even do a practice run before performing; I don’t doubt this at all.

@nlhn638

@@celloplaysmusic7330 Maybe, but Mozart also had it happen. Mozart's talent was that he saw the music sheet as he heard the music in his head, and this happened near every time, which is basically a super power. I wrote a bit more on a previous comment in the chain, but I didn't include this fact.
@edgarvanoostrum8450
@edgarvanoostrum8450 Год назад
I think the story is that he already had the ouverture "finished" in his head, but had not taken the effort yet to write down the scores for all the musicians in the orchestra (which can be a tedious chore indeed). In this case, I guess the moment the realization struck him that this still needed to happen, he was really short for time. But, hey, he made it ... 😎👍🏻

Cupaholic Milo. Figaro's in the play was far too radical and does not appear in the opera.

I love this overture because it can exist as a three-act story in its own right. His grasp of drama through music was masterful, and I think if he lived in modern times and had the inclination, Mozart would have been a brilliant filmmaker. I don't know if he's the best composer ever but to me his imagination was the most vivid and wonderful.
