Mozart looks so innocent on the page, but that is deceiving. Getting the cleanness and nuance is a never ending task. Truly an exceptional performance.
What a wonderful performance! The combination of piano and violin is perfect, sometimes they imitate each other, sometimes they come together to build a musical climax.
Gil Shaham puts all effort into playing Mozart. You can see his passion for the Violin. This has to be the best version of the Mozart Sonatas I've hear in a long time. His staccato was perfect. I can only wish I could play like him.
There's a huge mistake in the title of this video. This isn't a violin sonata. In fact it’s a Piano and Violin Sonata (with an emphasis on the piano part). That's not a superfluous thing. In fact the violin plays the accompanying part and that should be reflected on the whole approach of this work. That's what this performance is lacking.
@@M_SCAgree re the balance - piano is quieter than the violin on my phone however it doesn’t feel musically unbalanced and the violin certainly takes the lead often
