MP2002-349 Former President Truman Describes Dining Alone While President 

In this series of Screen Gems outtake, former president Harry S. Truman, seated by Bess Truman, says “When you live in the White House, you live pretty high and I’ll try to describe it to you.” He then reads his diary entry of November 1, 1949, about dining alone at Blair House. The reading is interspersed a couple of times with scenes of butlers, Fields and Barnett, in the White House. Mrs. Truman laughs several times during the reading. He ends by saying “. . . if you don’t believe I was getting service, you never saw it.”
