2007 I made my first "Beat" on Garage Band . Three Years later I started rapping and got the MPC 500.
At first it was frustrating^^ and my Beats were trash. But then I enjoyed it more and more..
Eventually I gave up rapping in order to focus more on making Beats..
Now I'm making Beats on the Mpc One and Ableton and I also started rapping again :)

16MB is enough. I put the 128MB in mine and it's messed up how my 500 functions. I can't use the 500 to finger-drum anymore as I can't hear the sounds once they are on the pads. I play them without hearing the sounds to record them now but when it loops the sounds come out.

most of the projects I've made on fruity loops in past decade were less than 16mb (90% around 3-6mb) so even though I had plenty of space I worked with least of sample time which makes working with them most creative

I haven’t touched an MPC in over 11 years and now just copped an MPC One trying to get my feet wet again. I’m still trying to figure out where the Zip disk goes 😂 jk lol. So much has changed and I’m super intimidated, but I remember when the 500 dropped we all clowned it hard but it actually seems very practical looking at it now and straight forward...did you use the quantize on it? Much love for another fire video.

Wow..so you worked with the mpc 2000 or xl back in the days? The mpc one seems like the best option for ex mpc users..(better than the live).. Yeah when i first got the 500, I was frustrated ^^ but after I've had the mpc live for 2 years or so, I understood the 500..and yeah its a small straight forward beast:) in this video i had it on quantize the whole time.. Thanks a lot!!

Fickus Beats Haha yeah man, a whole lifetime ago it feels like! I also briefly had a 1000, which I actually really did like! I was actually looking into a Live but I’m glad I was lucky enough to find a One and at a good deal, and it feels more what I was used to, but w a lot more features! It’s gonna take some getting used to but we will see how it all goes! Much love to you brotha and thanks for the reply! 👊

Hello. The "status" on my mpc500 shows that my "wav" is seriously insufficient. what should I do

Does it say "wav" or "ram" ? If it says ram then you reached the limit of samples you can load into your memory.. there is a way to upgrade your ram im order to load in more samples

Just keep in mind one of the most fire churning samplers that people would still stab their mom's in the back to get one, the SP 1200, comes with 256kb of ram
