One of my pleasures is the opportunity to occasionally help companies test products before they go to final production. I was able to help EQT test their MPI kit almost a year before it became available for purchase. I provided some feedback, and they have incorporated those changes, as well as a few other changes I noticed.
This video covers the swap from my beta (pre-production) rail to the new production version. Also... it starts a new adventure of low-pressure fuel troubleshooting that is unrelated to the swap but was highlighted during this process. I put a few details about that at the end of this video in case you are interested.
The new MPI rail looks great, works great, and the entire kit can be found on eqtuning.com if you are interested. Oh... I also mentioned a pair of vice grips in the video. Here those are: amzn.to/41dKc0U

Good to see you making Golf R videos again. If the car has been sitting that's not good when using E85 fuel. Definitely check your LPFP / HPFP for sure. If the car sits for long intervals, definitely switch to 91/94 octane gas.

Unfortunately, most of the time it sat this year was without notice, so I didn't have a chance to plan for it. I ended up in the emergency room and that resulted in a month in the hospital with about as much time recovering... I think that's where most of the issues occured for me. Hopefully I can clear it with some high detergent fuel!

I got unitronic's mpi for my mk8 gti. Anyway how is your water pump? Concerned since it be harder to remove the intake manifold after installing mpi. Also how is your dsg clutch pack holding up? Is it still the original or you replaced/upgraded it?

was this related to the locking ring failure on your in tank fuel line?

Yes! That turned out to be the issue.

I'm thinking the hpfp as well. They tend crap out for various reasons.

Right now it appears to just be the low side having issues. Thanks!

When I pulled my manifold to replace my throttle body, I depressurized my fuel system like you did and after I got everything back together, my car would run but when I tried to drive it it would lean so bad it closed the gap on a couple of my plugs, it took me a month of messing around with different things to find out that the a2b lpfp I had went bad, and for some reason after I had relieved the system of pressure the pump could no longer hold enough pressure to move or even rev it more than once or twice. Monitor your rail pressure, you might see it struggling to maintain the correct fuel pressure

Thanks for the info. Sounds very similar. I am going to switch to 93 for a bit and put Seafoam in at every fill up. My thought is that if it's just E85 residue, it might clear itself with some high detergent fuel... but your situation does sound very plausible for me. The fact that it ran SO bad for the first few miles after draining the system is very strange to me. It did improve, but the LPFP still can't keep up if I give it too much boost. It's very drivable...but not right.

@@EVERYTHINGcpo I bought a used pump when I originally did a Vortex on my A3 and had issues where the pump was unable to keep pressure above ~50-60psi once demand got higher. I got a new harness and upgraded to the black controller, sent the pump to Innovative Motorsports to look at, and they did not see anything wrong. In the end, replacing the pump was the only thing that resolved the issue for me. Have you taken a look in the tank? I've also had an issue where the pump kicked the feed line off a bit and as such it couldn't maintain pressure

Where did you purchase your European intake manifold? Do you have a part number?
