Thanks much for this i was literally looking for this exact fact after finishing the video. I ll also take a look at the PDF for more things i want to know.
Al be opened the doors to another world of production for me. I never dreamed of using the knobs to control wet and dry levels of multiple filters at the same time
I'll be honest. At first I was really sceptical about paying for your template, not that you wouldn't deserve it, but because I already paid a 100 bucks for the controller. But it was a pain in the ass to setup myself so I decided to give your template a try and it couldn't work any better. 100% worth the tenner.
I've been watching these videos all day to figure out how to do what I'm supposed to do. This is the first video where anyone actually thought to teach me -what- I'm actually supposed to be doing. Thanks AI Be!
@EmptyShellCasing You don't need to get his template. I have the mk3 and with more research there is a base template already installed onto the device for fl studio. PROG SELECT - PAD 3. If pad 3 doesn't work try others. If you feel the need the buy then do it for the convenience. I paid for the template to later find this out. Can also confirm the paid template is legit if you choose to go that route. Sorry for the paragraph.
I'm a 40yr old noob that's always wanted to make beats but never got around to it. Got me a MPK Mini III and FL Studio, and just bought and installed your template........THANK YOU! No joke man, the template combined with your excellent tutorial has just made everything so much better, especially for a beginner like me. I've subscribed to all your media man. Keep doing you, and thanks again!
I spent so much time figuring out how to do this without paying. After way too many hours of research I decided to buy this. Trust me guys you should buy it. It's fucking amazing.
😂 I'm only laughing because it took me FOREVER to figure out. So I know what you went through. That's why I figured it would save so many people time and is a great workflow. I'm glad you found it worth it. Thanks for the support.
After watching this video I bought the controller right away specifically for this template! Extremely grateful for it, it's absolutely fantastic. Legitimately the best mapping I've seen with any controller, it's so nice being able to play/ stop/ record with it, never been able to do that with any of my controllers previously! Both the controller and template are well worth the money if anybody is considering buying it. Liked and subscribed (with notifications)!
😲 Fionn thanks for sharing that. With all sincerity it's cool knowing that you appreciate the effort and the result. Plus the fact that I made someone's music journey more fun and easy. For real, it means a lot. Much love for the support! Welcome to the fam. 🚀🚀🚀
was getting discouraged with how complex fl studio is without a controller. Bought this one, and used your template. I think you helped me find a new passion. Thank you
Wow that’s great to hear. You’re about the 3rd person to say this actually helped drive their passion and I’m excited about that. It’s certainly overwhelming at first.
This is very exciting. I've had an mpk mini for years now, and I've never really figured out how to use it to its fullest potential. Thank you so much for this. Subscribed!
Really appreciate this. I've been using FL on and off for almost 20 years now. I was naturally drawn to and loved the Akai Fire but I could never adjust to the keyboard on there. I picked up the MK3 on Christmas. I love how your template allows it to control FL like the Fire. Less back and forth between the keyboard and FL and more actual creating and workflow. $10 template well worth it.
Spent 3 hours trying to figure out the right template to get it setup without using fpc. After seeing you had the play/pause/etc. mapped in there as well I went for it and bought yours. All I can say is I wish I would have found your template 3 hours ago! Absolutely worth the price. Thanks man.
ok so to anyone thinking this isnt worth buying, it really is.... i couldnt get it working at first and its because i didnt watch this video all the way through..... theres a lot of time and effort gone into this template and the same again to show us how to install and use it... big respect to Albe for the time and effort, well worth the money.. and no! i dont know him or am i sponsored by him, i just recognise hard work and this deserves recognition. peace
Wow 😲 Man I can't tell you how encouraging this was! Made my day. Appreciate the kind words. I'm glad it's helpful for you. More videos and tips on the way! Thanks for the support and feedback!
Thank you for this detailed video and your explanations. I just got my mk3 mini a few days ago and i wouldn't have even known where to start. I can already see this improving the way i use FL studio. Major props to you.
I was skeptical at buying more stuff after already spending 100 on the midi, but this is 100 per cent worth it, it saved me a lot of time, and works perfectly, everything is ergonomic and just works perfect for me, thanks so much bro!
my man, i don't know how to express my satisfaction without sounding like one of them fake reviews. this ups my controllers functionality tenfold. mad respect
Hi ! I bought your template, it is great, helped me a lot, thanks ! I have one question though : sometimes FPC can be pretty useful ; is there any way to switch from your use of the MPK mini to another use that allows to play drums with the pads linked to a FPC ? Thanks a lot for your help
Here 2 years later, it's Fl20-AlBe-v3.0 now, but everything works perfectly, thanks for explaining man, it was so helpful, really happy that I was able to set it up, thanks to you man
hey man im in the same boat but my drumpads are not activating the correct channels. pad 9 is going to channel 1 and pad 16 is going to channel 4... really appreciate if you know how i can fix it?
Just picked me up one of these mpk3’s a week ago. This template works great, thanks for the time and effort you put in on this. A lot more organized than how I was working. Great video, very helpful! 👍
Dude! Could you help me out with finding the download for the MPK3 Program Editor? It is no where to be found on akai’s website and I already bought this template. If it’s no trouble could you please tell me how you applied the template and/or how you downloaded the program editor? Thanks in advance, I really hope I can get this figured out.
@@Anthony-fb7ju I just checked myself and it's still there. If you register the controller and go to My Products you should see Mini III Software towards the bottom of the section with the MK3 info. If you still can't find it there, use the links below. They should take you straight to download. WIN Download - bit.ly/mini3software-win MAC Download - bit.ly/mini3software-mac
@@thisisalbe thank you, I’ll check it out again. Are you talking about that download link inside of MPC Beats? I don’t know if they did an update or what but I can’t find that screen that you were on. Thanks again for the response I can’t wait to figure it out and get that template on there 🙏🏼
first real tutorial I've seen about this so far! Shiid, you broke this down better than their website! Good job, I appreciate and I know so many others do too. thanks
Aye Al Be, I just swooped your template. Im very happy to support you brother. Money well spent. As my mama would say. "Don't spend it all in one place". Al Be Pluggin ✔
Just starting out and was at a total loss how to get this awesome kit working with FL.. you did the work and decided to share it with us and I'm extremely grateful. Thanks v much dude
Bro, this MPK Mini MK3 template is very good. It makes my setup feel standalone with less clicking in... I dig this a lot. I guess year 2020 did not bring all bad things... 100% Valid!
I must admit this is the most productive video I've seen when it comes to this midi controller. It certainly feels like getting the most out of it. Didn't mind paying the extra bit for the template.
Hey brother thanks for setting this up, works great! Little workflow tip: If you wanna control a 3rd party VST knob you don't have to search it in the browser, you can simply open the left top arrow in the plugin window and click "Browse parameters". That will take you directly to the specific section in the browser!
there is an even easier option: just click on the knob symbol in the top (left to the main snap settings), after that move any amount of knobs in your VST you want to link. It will remember the order and then you can link multiple knobs on your hardware just by moving them in the same order. ;) also here is a video explaining this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UGLBBWrTb4w.html And your template is amazing btw.!
Dude this works great! Well worth the small amount of money if any one is wondering. The way the controls are mapped is super intuitive IMO as well. I'm running the latest version of FL Studio 20 at the time of writing this, and I'm having no issues. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting for us! @Al Be
Yoooo you are THE Man!!! Thank you so much for this template, can't describe how much I appreciate this. Now I'm gonna go ahead and make a BANGER BEAT haha. Much Love from Switzerland - ThisNoah
Hey, this template is awesome I´ve just purchased it now and I had to come to the video to congratulate you for your job. Also I wanted to know is it possible to set the TAP TEMPO button to set the actual tempo in Fl Studio? Just want to know if possible, thanks.
I really appreciate the feedback. I think there is a way but haven't figured out how yet. I'll take a look sometime next week and see. If I find out how I'll add a video to my MK3 playlist.
Hey man, I’m not new to the FL world but sure am new to the midi world. Thank you SO much for this, bought your template and everything is coming together. I also don’t usually subscribe on RU-vid but I can tell you’ve worked hard on all of this and want to support your channel. Keep it up man and thanks!
Thank you JT! I seriously appreciate the comment. It really helps me keep going. There are some folks who get pissed b/c it's not free without realizing or thinking about how much work went into it or not realizing how much I still work here and in email to help people everyday.
I'm not even gonna lie, this makes my life a lot easier with starting out on FL Studio. Super informative and helpful. I'll be referring back to this video for a while! Thanks brotha man!!!
this is so cool! if anyone is skeptical about the website and buying the template i highly suggest it. i was skeptical at first but this is much worth the 10 dollars for a practical life changer. you are the goat🐐
hey man i just bought ur editor , wanted to say good stuff . Also another easier way to link 3rd party vst effect onto ur knobs, u can just tweak it with your mouse and then go to Tools->last tweaked and then you can link it to your controller. by the way is there gonna be any updates to your editor and if not i would love to know more about it so i can maybe customize it a little.
bought your template a few hours ago, I love all of the functions, looking forward to use it in a live session. it saved me a lot of time and it works perfectly, definitely a steal for less than 10$ 💪🏻
@Al Be I was about to return my Mk3 before I saw this video. I saw what you were able to do with it, bought your template and it is the best purchase I made in my dream to become a music producer. Seriously, I was about to give up and return the MK3 as it was absolutely crap before I got your template. For anyone reading this comment and contemplating whether to buy the template, don't think. If you are using FL STUDIO 20 and bought this MK3 to use with it, without this template, the MIDI Controller is absolute crap. It says a lot about AKAI though, that they just sell a $100 midi controller with absolutely no easy way to set it up with the DAW of your choice. I really can't thank you enough man. God bless brother.
Thanks man! This comment made my day honestly. I knew it would help people who had the same issue but I never thought about it actually helping someone work on their dreams. I know how hard it is in the beginning so if it's one less thing in your way then my job is done here. Def appreciate the feedback and support!
Brother this is some pretty masterful programming you did on this software. I'm back after about a year because I'm having issues, but I'm confident a fresh install will fix it. I have enjoyed having this thoroughly, worth every penny.
Doesn't work properly for me. Every setting I checked few times and still my first channel is played by the 5th pad and the 2nd is played by the 7th pad. The other channels don't work. Other settings works fine but pads no. Omni previews settings, mk3 settings, fl settings are correctly switched and nothing. Any solutions?
You likely set the midi port and not the Omni preview channel. It's the most common mistake. Look very closely at the fl midi settings chapter again. Then check the included PDF for other common misses. But nothing is different than what's shown in the video. It 1000% works. Email me if you still have issues and attach a picture of your FL midi settings
Another way to map one of the knobs to something in a 3rd party VST is to move the knob in the VST, and then go up in the top left to "TOOLS", then "Last tweaked", and then click on "Link to controller". (you can also set up automation clips in that menu). This is the method I use, it seems simpler than the one you show. Love this template though :P
You're the second one to say this. I'll make a video on this then. It sounds simpler but I think it doesnt work for some VSTs for some reason. I recall finding that before which is why I show my method. I'll try that one and share it too. Thanks!
Hi! I have a problem, i install the template and everything, send it to the prog, the ram, etc. But when i play it on fl studio, my pads work strange. The first channel is played by the 5th pad and the 2nd is played by the 7th pad. The other channels dont work
You don't have it setup properly then. It sounds like controller type isn't set or you didn't push and recall the template from the controller. I can tell by the description of your issue
Thankyou, I bought your setup pack thing, and it works a charm. Also much appreciated how easily you portrayed the information while going into good depths to explain it all, Thankyou Al Be
Glad you found it helpful. Thank you for the support. Use my amazon link and I'll get a small kickback at no additional cost to you. Here -> amzn.to/2VU3jMs
Dude I'm literally in the MPK Mini Software right now and under "Settings" I see the words "Show Advanced Software" but there's no box to put a check mark in. I don't know why this software does not appear they way it does for you. I'll try and uninstall/reinstall and maybe the box will appear. Otherwise, how else can I get the MPK editor?
is there a way to change the sensitivity of the drumpads? when I press them the drums/sound are super quiet and I need to press the pads very hard to hear something at all
I just wanted to say thanks because this little pack is really amazing. I just got started making music and when I was looking for a good midi keyboard so many people were saying it took them actual days to configure, and due to my keyboard arriving on my birthday I was a little upset that I was going to spend my day trying to figure this out. But this pack saved the day like really only took a few minutes and that really made my day. Easily worth $10. Like fr life saving and definitely earned my sub Also noteworthy: There was only one small problem I ran across when setting up that's not addressed in this video. When I hit the keys it was not loud enough and I really had to push hard to make sound. The way to fix this is by going to midi settings and changing the "link note on velocity to" setting to "none". Just thought I would include that incase anyone else has that issue.
Jacob thanks for the feedback. I'm honestly glad it helps. As for the key velocity, I've had several people ask that and that's exactly what I tell them to do so thanks for sharing the tip. I'll update the included read me file to point this out as well as other tips. Thanks again for the support! Make some 🔥
@@thisisalbe If you want actual velocity instead of just always the same velocity... check this comment out www.reddit.com/r/FL_Studio/comments/ins9kn/how_to_raise_akai_mpk_mini_mk3_piano_keys/gex8ltf?context=3 If you hold "FULL LEVEL" button for 5 seconds it will turn on a mode that lets you change the velocity settings for the keyboard, use the settings in that commend (V1 = 36.0, V2= 18.0, V3 = 17.0, V4=16.0) (Control these with Knobs 1 - 4 respectively) and Black bal: 1.0x (knob 5), this should help get it much more consistent and you don't need to press so hard. You can play the keys while in this mode, so you can tune it live to something you're comfy with. Then just hold "FULL LEVEL" for another five seconds to save and return the knob functions back to normal. (Default settings are v1:24.0, v2:6.0, v3:4.0, v4:2.4, Black Bal:0.7x if you ever want to revert back to these values) Or, leave "Link Note on Velocity" to "Velocity" and play with the automation (chain icon right next to it) to determine the loudness of the note depending on how hard you press the key (drag left slope point up and play around with the keys while you do that to see how it feels). The first strategy feels better IMO, but the second one is easier.
I need some help please. I set up everything as you've shown in the video but I still have a couple issues. Firstly, no matter what I do, pressing the pads don't trigger the assigned channels (1,2,3,etc.) - and yes, everything is set up correctly. I checked like 5 times. Omni preview is set to 10, M-audio oxygen 49/61. Everything's correct. Also, when enabling CC mode the pads still don't do anything. Nothing happens when I press them. Can you help please? I'm really stuck here. Tried running as admin, reconnecting device, restarting PC, opening empty template. And yes, the program IS selected. I sent to RAM and to 4 as well. Did everything just like you. Still no luck :/ everything else works fine though.
@@thisisalbe i was the one who wrote on insta, vln_beats, I bought the template, it works, however in cc mode the pads still don't work. texted you about it on ig!
Kozy does the pitch bend work (left to right) and the modulation (up and down) not work? Usually its just the modulation that isn't properly assigned in FL.
Oh man, I just bought mpk mini 3 and my stupid ass would never manage to install all the good stuff and settings. You're doing a god's work. Really appreciate it. I will your sub til I die. Much love from Siberian forests ❄️
I'm glad it helped you. Hopefully it makes sense why it's not free. I put a lot of time into making it work right, adding documentation, hosting it, making the video, and helping people every day.
@@EYDOEY Did a reinstall fix it? I 've had a couple people tell me this was an issue for them. It's likely it got changed in the default template at some point and the modulation or pitch was tied to something else.
@@thisisalbe thank you very much!i triple checked every detail but the problem is that my pads play the same sample with a different note...so i cant make a drum pattern
Man thank you SO MUCH for this video. I bought an MK3 Mini a couple weeks ago and I have been thoroughly unimpressed with the support I have received from Akai - I can't even get the bundled instruments to register properly, and when I click the link in the software it takes me to a web page that doesn't exist! And needless to say, FL Studio didn't work with it out of the box. This video changes everything! You are the man! Thank you thank you thank you!
Brand new to all of this period and this video was very easy to follow with outstanding direction thanks so much for all the help in learning my controller.... recommend this video for sure....
Definitely will be coming back for reference since all this is still new to me, made this really easy for me and I thank you for the template. Keep doing what you're doing!
21:07 You can also link the controll from tools/last tweakerd/ and then link controll. after you controlled Dreamy Grit. And it work in all plugins / vst's
