yeah nah, bud. 10 days all around. I work 40+ hours a week and I am fine with part timers getting 10 days.

its not taking any extra money for a day's working leave, be it 4 hours or 7.5. Once they start moving the Goal Posts, workers will lose all benefits.

Politicians are notorious for not turning up to work, they earn a generous salary, are they taking sickies or are they part time workers? I think they are looking for ways to reduce wages.

Its not how sick leave is calculated, 10 days is 10 days of that work, their is no extra pay. Annual leave is not adjusted for part time work, its not on full time pay. My work does not pay holiday pay, its not A compulsory payment.

There was one part I kiiind of understand, but I think it wasn't really explained properly. The comment on someone maybe only doing 10-20 hours p/w, but getting the same amount of *days* - you may have 2 shifts off, but that could only equal 1 "day" (8 hours) of leave in total. This means that someone could have up to 20 *shifts* off, while also doing much less hours over the course of a calendar year. In saying that, as mentioned, it's ultimately still the same amount of hours overall that need to be covered over the same year time period. Can it harder to get cover for *more shifts*? Absolutely! But, as a 'full-timer' you may also go into work, realise you aren't as well as you thought (or get a call saying a child needs to be picked up etc) & therefore leave early and only apply for a 1/2 day of sick leave. So, you could both be putting through requests for 4 hours, and keeping that other 4 for another time. Therefore, I do actually understand a debate around the practicality of each being different, but, there are such a range of circumstances (children, mental health, appointments, sickness that lasts more than a couple of days etcetc) that an umbrella policy for all FT & PT seems the most ethical, I think.

If you’re not changing the 10 days then why is there a discussion document suggesting it’s possible? That is like a perfect example of MBIE doing unproductive work- don’t get them to do it if it’s not a goer from the start!!!!

Sick leave should be of how many hours you do -Full time 10 days and pro rata for part time whats not fair about that -Labour love lumping costs onto Employers -They hate small Business

The issue I see is companies reducing employees hours (38 hours) to make them part timers and thus saving themselves 5 days per employee (not looking at the fast food multinational corporations)

I have a part-time nephew. He does take the mickey by taking his ten days even though he only works two days a week.He reckons it's better to take them, as it gives him nine weeks holiday plus his public holiday days gives him even more.

Sick Leave entitlement should be expressed in weeks as is Annual Leave entitlement. Therefore, 10 days sick entitlement should change to 2 weeks entitlement. That means if you work a 5 day week you get 2 weeks paid leave. If you work a 2 day week you also get 2 weeks paid leave. Why should a 2 day worker get in effect 5 weeks sick leave, they don't get 5 weeks Annual Holidays. How hard is that to understand the fairness in both of these cases? Thankfully, Mr McAnulty is not a Judge!

What, part time workers get the same amount of leave paid for their part time work. Its not paid out as full time work leave. Its the same as sick leave, its just calculated a full part day. My work does not pay Holiday pay, its not a compulsory factor.
@paywize
@paywize 3 месяца назад
@@greggiles7309 You are wrong. Annual Holiday Leave/Pay is compulsory by your employer if you are a permanent full time or part time worker. If you are employed on a fixed term of less than 12 months or If you are a casual worker then holiday pay at 8% can be paid out to you each pay period if you have agreed to it.
