Phenomenal video. Novation should hire you. I wasted a whole weekend looking for this sort of walk-through. Glad I finally found it. Please make more, similar content. Preferably a deeper dive into how to use Launchkey MIDI's with Logic Pro and the nuances between Ableton and Logic when using Novation hardware. As a beginner, I can thank you enough for putting this together. Saved me a lot of time and confusion.
This was INSANELY helpful to me! As someone who has never used a MIDI before, I feel so much more like I know what I'm doing after watching this video. This is the only video that I have watched about the Launchkey 49 that I have really learned from. Seriously, thank you. I no longer feel like I'm drowning!
Picked up the Launchkey61 2 weeks ago and this is the first video I have been able to find that actually shows how to use it.! All the rest were like "here's how you plug in the usb cable" and how to download the software. Thanks for this. I have bookmarked this video because it is packed with so much info I will have to come back to it ;)
Hey Xylo, You knock that one out of the park. As a vintage Pro Tools, Logic and Ableton teacher I recognise your depth and delivery is excellent, far beyond anyone else. Your double jointed fingers are still freaking me out. Fantastic video. Thanks
I have a newer Launchkey 37 and this tutorial was one of the best I have seen which is easily understandable and still can be applied to the 37 key. Good job. You cleared up some questions I had that was not addressed in other tutorials. Thank you.
I’ve been using this essentially just to play in notes. You’ve explained all the other the functions so well, it’s really inspiring to know this controller can do so much more. You should be on the novation payroll for sure! Thanks a lot
thank you! just picked one up and didnt know where to start lol you helped tremendously. straight to the point, quick and easy. would love a deeper dive from you on song making and vocal stuff with this!!
Thanks! I've had my Launchkey 49 mk3 for a year and love it with Logic (or Ableton), but there we're a few features I had forgotten about. You're instruction is excellent!
love it and love your accent? hidden gem as a abelton 11 beta tester the novation pads work with the mpe since it has polyphonic aftertouch on pads.....also love that everything is rubberized
🤘o!!!! Thank you so much! I've had the mk3 49 for almost a year, and knew once I actually wrapped my head around the ableton integration, I'd be hard to gaurd...thanks to you, I'm finally seeing how the fucntions operate, and your way of explaining is definitely top notch. I understood everything you explained. This is going to change my entire workflow~ !!! Thank you! 🤘🤘🤘 Cannon aka DubV SmartAss
I'm a pianist who played "plug and play" synths with bands and for myself and I bought the launchkey 37 yesterday and your video makes sense to me! Thank you very much! I will watch it again and again.
if thorough .. were a person..- thanks So much for taking the time to go through Everything-,, i'm on the 37 & am definitely going to make the move to the 49 or SL- so Really appreciative - only problem i'm havin' at the moment is my screen on the 37 is lit up but not showing anything, no functions, ,no mattter where i move on it
I have this key board currently set up using garage band with my iPad not everything works but your video just helped me so much with unlocking this things potential thankyou for a great tutorial video.
Great video. I've just got mine today, and this was definitely helpful. The Capture MIDI feature is insane! It's worth noting, as you mentioned aftertouch early on, that aftertouch is only on the pads and not the keys. I would have also liked to have seen more detailed instructions on how to set up the custom pots/pads/faders. I'm also trying to see if there's a way to control which device parameters the pots can control (i.e. is it only the first 8, or can you scroll across to the next bank?). I suspect you might have to use custom configurations of the device parameters. Sorry to be picky too but, as constructive criticism, your content is very good but your camera and sound quality doesn't match that. For a music-tech channel, I would love to see you guys improve on the AV quality. Even just a decent smartphone camera and a semi decent mic would improve your output immensely.
Thank you a video I could understand as a beginner like literally just got the 25 key I got everything started on my own until I didn’t get sound pressing keys watched the tutorial, watched a couple other RU-vid videos still didn’t help finally struck gold lol ✨💯
Just go into Novation Components and drag and drop whatever you like into the custom pages. This part isn't too difficult so didn't want to spend much time on it :)
You are a fantastic teacher. I entered this video just having a very basic idea of what the MK3 could do, but now I feel like I can really use it's potential well. Thanks!
thank you thank you, this is a great video for me as i had no idea on how to use the damm thing fresh out of the box. you are my hero thank you from the bottom of my heart x x x
The best video about Launchkey MK3 in RU-vid. By the way, do you know what buttons in MK3 replace the Scene buttons in Launckey MK2? Thanks in advance. Congratulations!
This was great! Just got my MK3 61 key this week. Confusing for a new user without it! Are you able to make a video showing how to do a basic song with this using Ableton from start to finish?
@@musicproductionforwomen this would really help me as well as a solo artist I've never had a producer and I can't afford paying for beats I made one tonight for my first album I just got my recording mic with a interface as well! I'm overwhelmed by this keyboard lol
Hi! Thank you so much for this guide, it was extremely helpful!! Do you know if there is a way to hold a sound continuously (either a note or a chord) outside the Arpeggiator mode? Like the Latch on Mode but just for any note or chord. Thank you!
very clearly spoken and very well explained. this has helped me a lot, thank you. Do you know how to use the arp when it is latched if i can use the pots to automate from my daw i.e filter ,reverb. it just just goes back to the tempo, swing mode etc.
This was really well done. I was wondering about the device controls and you covered that proper! Thank you. Question: Is there a way to shift over so that the pots and faders control the next (and then next) tracks? Also: So the lock of the wet/dry. If you lock it, does that mean that that pot will always control the wet/dry on any track's reverb, even though we start on page 1? So whatever pot #7 used to do on page one of the reverb is now over-ridden? Thanks again!
Thanks for this, very useful for understanding what MIDI keyboards do. Question - once the script for Logic Pro is installed, would this function the same way.
Question on Latch when you play the Arpeggiator. Will the Latch continue to work, when you change the arpeggiator notes. Say you start with A minor, and then G Major. Will the Latch function forget the previous latched A minor. It is one of the beauties of any Arranger keyboard which is in the lower section. That allows you to play accompaniment by changing chords, pads that remembers the last entered keys. Do you also have a split function where you can defined lower and upper sections of the keyboard?
Hello! Can I use it with ableton 9 suite or I need the 10 version? The problem is I only have the Ableton Live 9 suite version and the 10 Lite version doesn’t work for me for the limited tracks it allows. Please helpmeeee… I’m just waiting for this answer to buy this Novation after a big research. Thanks in advance for your answer 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great. I did figure out a lot of things by my own and this video finished up the work. I didn't yet know how to use fixed chord and scale and your explanation was fantastic. Thank you!!
Excellent video, do you think this could be a jack of all trades that could do a portion of what the launchpad, midi keyboard and launch control xl do?
