Video compilation of the Mr. Bungle "The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny" 2020 Tour | Los Angeles, CA - San Francisco, CA - Brooklyn, NY. | Track listing below...
Update: Watch in 1080HD! | Transcribed & added subtitles for speaking segments
The 2020 reunion of Mr. Bungle was, at least for myself, one of the most important moments in music history. I know I was definitely not alone in (prior to the announcement) thinking that Mr. Bungle was just something that I had to accept that I would never get a chance to experience live. I was just a bit too young at the time they were playing their last shows in my area. The thought of a reunion was something I would never let myself entertain, it seemed it was just a sad fact of life that it would never happen. You can probably imagine (or maybe even shared similar emotions), the all out hysteria that broke out following the announcement last summer, that Mr. Bungle would be reuniting for a handful of shows.
Another reason this reunion was such an immensely and ridiculously huge deal for me, is because Mr. Bungle's first demo, "The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny" (1986) was my first introduction to the band when I was a wee teen. I acquired a copy from a friend's older brother, and it remained a favorite throughout the years. So previously, if any thought of a reunion in and of itself was considered a waste of a daydream, forget completely about any hopes of ever hearing any of the tracks from this demo being performed live by Mr. Bungle, right? Jesus fucking Christ. (Hence the all out hysteria).
Being able to see this live was an experience that I couldn't possibly begin to describe or explain in a way that could ever do it any justice. Its been almost exactly a month now since the shows, and that excitement is still pulsating through my brain. I felt like I needed to make some sort of tribute to the events or what have you, before all of this extra pressure mounting in my head exploded into a visceral mess. This video is a sort of highlight reel, with some of the stand out moments throughout the tour from each city. I didn't include every song from their setlist, however, because I thought if it ran any longer in length that nobody would watch it (haha). I started collecting video and photos after the first show in LA, and started editing footage shortly afterward. It took nearly a month to complete, but I feel it was worth every second. Please know that if I could have done any better in assembling this video, that believe me, I would have. I'm still definitely a novice to the world of video editing. I know there's probably a good amount people out there who will complain (aren't there always?) about the use of effects and overlays and such. So to get the question of why I used any/so many effects and shit out of the way, I did it because I was trying to create something new or different. All of the footage used in this video is already out there online in its original format. I was trying to avoid feeling as if I were just re uploading someone else's videos. I was also trying to go for a sort of worn out VHS feel with a bit of added humor. Kinda like those old live video comps bands used to put out back in the day. Like the old Target Home Videos and shit. So hopefully that jives.
Also thanks to everyone who attended these shows for all of the absolutely outstanding photos and videos they captured and shared with the world online. I did my best at trying to retain an accurate credit list (at end of the video), but if I happened to miss any names in the process, for that I am truly sorry.
Thanks for watching!

Haha! I gotta say dude, between the guy yelling about powering Slayer, and then your "play a fast one"... one of my favorite moments of crowd heckling. I seriously laugh every time I hear it, lol. Seemed like Patton was even a bit amused, that's a feat right there 🤙

Great job!!!! ...I noticed Danny Elfman in the credits of the video/photo section...what was his contribution? Did he take a photo? Or did we actually see some footage at some point that was filmed by Danny on his cell phone? Very curious. It doesn't surprise me that Danny would be a fan of Mr. Bungle. Mr. Bungle is a fan of Oingo Boingo, so it's not far-fetched, but, I hope someone can answer me.
@Malocchio
@Malocchio 3 года назад
There's one or two photos in there that Elfman took at the Fonda Theatre. I couldn't resist. Patton & Elfman working together is one of those collaborations I always keep my fingers crossed for. Anything those two would do together musically would pretty much be the end all be all for me, but I'd absolutely go nuts to see them work on some type of score together. Anywho, here's one of the photos... instagram.com/p/B8XTjxTBAqS/

@@Malocchio I figured Bungle/ Patton for Oingo Boingo fans (the good stuff, the early stuff) but had no IDEA Elfman would be attending a Mr B "back to our thrash/ hardcore/ crossover roots" reunion show. And Danny's description of Patton is fucking gold: "Mr. Bungle show last night! Really amazing. Mike Patton is insane. (Insanely talented!) I’d love to steal his voice. I know there are others who can sing with the ferocity of an angry grizzly bear seized by the spirit of a psychopathic banshee… and there are others who can also croon with the very best of the crooners and perfectly capture the spirit of 60’s Italian pop singers... but seriously, no human can do both. Effortlessly. Not like Patton. I actually think he may not be human. The Melvins also played a scorching set. " RESPECT

Fuck YUSSSS! This takes me back to the beginning of 2020, just before shit got mega shitty! I spent a whole shwack of dosh I didn't have, pissed off/scared my boyfriend, to fly down from BC to San Francisco and see these fuckin' awesome guys. February 11? Spectacular!! Hands down the best show I've been to! Or, at least in the top 3. I got to be right up front, and go OFF to Intestinal Disgorge, Victim's Family, and, of course, my beloved Mr.Bungle. Show-Bro-ed it up with a bunch of strangers from around the US and Canada, ran into a chick from my hometown who was there, with a girl I was buddies with as a teenager, ...I didn't actually *see* my old friend, but we were even staying at the same hotel! (shout-out to Good Hotel! Inexpensive, but nice for the price!! Comfy beds, rad staff; a cool old building spiffed up!) Cruised around The Tenderloin and met a bunch of cool, if not various degrees of addicted, yet kind, people. Took some former-strangers out for meals, and had zero issues with anyone. Everyone was friendly, and I had some amazing conversations/chill seshes with everyone from fellow Bungle fans to folks no "normal" person would approach. It was basically East Vancouver (DTES) with more human feces, guns, and brothas/sistas. DTES is more Red/White/Yellow/Beige/Brown, with some Black representation, but not as much as the Tenderloin. Also, don't get me wrong: there's lots of poop in Victoria and Vancouver, especially since Covid, (I recently had my own poomergency downtown and had to go shit behind a barely-concealing, sparse hedge. Shy popper's worst nightmare!) and a sickening hoard of rigs, gear, pipes, etc littering the ground. I didn't see as many straight-up needles in the T., though. I probably handed out 2 packs of cigarettes during my 4.5 days there; I was the cigarette fairy. Got day-drunk in Haight Ashbury with a bunch of street travellin' Deadheads who were spanging and pre-gaming before a Dead & Co show for a few hours. Shopped at Amoeba for 45s to take back as souvenir gifts, ditto the cool military surplus store in the area. My dude is a major American military buff, so I got him some pins and patches, and old vinyl. Hung out with the extremely cool, generous-with- the-down-low-shots, owner of the Liq in the area (I don't know if I should post the name here, now, cause that might get him into shit, "giving out samples" of his wares. However, if any locals know where I'm talking about, go there; it's awesome!). The show was like a religious experience. From dancing to Stevie Wonder, Hall and Oates, and Steely Dan before the show started, to being unable to stop headbanging to Intestinal D. Danced like an idiot to V.F. and seriously went off for Bungle. Shared a million hugs with a million strangers, ditto my boss stage POV positioning by swapping back and forth with various people around me, so they could get a better look and not be whipped by my hair. Unabashedly girl-danced with the couple beside me to Seals and Croft (that was seriously awesome!!) I had this moment during Victim's Family's set, where I was laughing and dancing, then I suddenly felt like I was going to cry with joy. Like, "oh my god, I'm about to see my favourite band of ~24 years LIVE, PLAYING THE RAGING WRATH!!!! *SOB*" It was beautiful! I know this is getting super long and rambling, and "me, me, me" ish. It was just so excellent. It was the last live show I saw before the shit seriously hit the fan, and even though reports were already coming out of China, I was naive enough to think it would all blow over. I just squeaked back into Canada; within a few weeks, everything got hardcore brutacular and the harshness was doled out in spades. It was our last big hurrah. Good timing on M.B.'s part: they dipped in and out hellatight, made a little dosh, and a lot of people very happy. Thank you for making this, and reminding me of the awesomenocity I, and others, experienced in SF (and L.A., and N.Y.). Has anyone managed to catch glimpses of themselves in any of the footage, if you were at any of these shows? I can see myself in a couple tiny snippets of various videos I've seen. Only flashes of long hair, and white clothes. It's a cool feeling: "I was actually there! This is proof that it all wasn't a beautiful dream!!!" Ok: stay safe, healthy, and sane-ish, my dudes. I hope you're all making it through 2020 in one piece. Tons of bomb-ass stranger love to everyone out there from Yours Truly. Muah!
