Mr G Shave BOTB #12 Gillette Perma-Sharp v's Gillette Nacet & Tabac Cream

Today’s BOTB was requested by Varun Mehta. The battle was between two of my favourite blades, namely the Gillette Perma-Sharp and the Gillette Nacet razor blades.
Pass 1 (with the grain) was definitely won by the Nacet, Pass 2(across the grain) was pretty much a draw and Pass 3(against the grain) was a definite win for the Nacet. Overall, I felt the Nacet suited me more than the Perma-Sharp. The Nacet just seemed sharper and more efficient than the Perma-Sharp.

Hi John👋 Kai blades are definitely right up there with Feather but I tend to use Nacets in more razors.

Hi Gary, nice shave Sir 🤙Great comparison, so a big shout out to Varun. Both are excellent blades and I use them both, Nacet perform very well in my Gamechangers and funnily enough I use the Perma sharp in my 6S on plate 4. 👍Be well mate 🙏

Nice comparison, Nacets seem to be highly thought of in the shaving world, maybe I’m due a revisit of the blade. Glad the flu symptoms have lessened and you are feeling better. Only 2 pints over the weekend??, it’s recommended to drink plenty of fluids when you are poorly haha 😂

🤣😂🤣 It wasn't even 2 pints lol (2 bottles of Corona). Nacets are definitely well respected. I think it just takes a while to find the right razor/blade combo🙂

I haven't tried the cream but I really enjoy tabac puck. For me I prefer nacet. Awesome comparison shave and video 👍💈

Glad you are feeling better. I need to get Tabac, haven't tried it yet, I just finally tried Proraso lol. Ok, for your next battle of the blades use the Derby Premium vs the Gillette Platinum and get the Derby out of the way and done with. Nice shave Gary, Nacet's are a great blade but the Perma Sharps are no slouch either.

Cheers Scott👍 The Flu like symptoms only lasted a day or so 🙂 I just felt tired and had muscle ache for 24-36hrs. I will dig out the Derby blades and give them a go against the Platinum blades (I think I have one or two left).

Hi Scott, if you are wondering where todays video is, I went to look at my blade store and found that I didn't have any Gillette Platinum blades. I have now ordered some and will do the BOTB next monday👍

@@MrGShave You didn't need to order the Platinum's you could have done a substitute of something you had. But I think you will like the Platinum's tho, smooth shavers for me.

Good shave mate 👍 just had great shave with a new blade to me a rapira ladas super stainless , fantastic mate 👏👏 Rockwell 6 s plate 4 Declaration grooming rose santal soap Thayer's rose face toner Declaration grooming rose santal aftershave lotion , And used the same brush as you today 👍💈🪒🧴🧼👍

Hi Gary. The Derby Usta and Premium are good blades. I don't get on with the Derby Extra.

Just discovered the nacet through kevvy and they're brill and im like, can't stand the derby blades, it's like shaving with a spoon. anyhoo great shave and keep kool dood ✌️☺️.

There mere mention of Derby blades makes me cringe lol 😆 I used them a couple of times and decided there and then never to use them again lol It was like rubbing my face with sandpaper 😱

@@MrGShave thank you Gary. Because I shave my head and face once a week, I was considering a Leaf but its not available in South Africa. Then I came across the Rockwell 6c but not sure if changing plates between shaves would be convenient, but I'm still considering it. The last option I was thinking off, was the Rockwell T2, as it's easy to adjust. What's your thoughts? Can I use a single plate for both a head & face shave with a 6c?

@@moh2502 Hi Moh. You can definitely use the 6c on both head and face. I am surprised you can't get the Leaf in SA. Can you not order direct? The Leaf is definitely a better head shaver, but if your only choice is the 6c or the T2 then the 6c would be my choice. Most people find the right plate for them and just stick with that plate for all of their shaves whether that be head or face. Having said that, it is nice to have options 👍

@@MrGShave Unfortunately Leaf doesn't ship to SA because they claim its too costly & I've been trying other options to get it. With that said, thank you for the recommendation for the 6C, will give it a go 👍

You should try the older type of Perma Sharp ones what have ' INK' on the blades and called ' SUPER PERMA SHARP' ! But the thing is they are discontinued!
