I really enjoyed this footage of our performance of Dazed And Confused in the style of 1973-era Zeppelin. This footage was shot by our good friend, Sherry Anderson.
You should check out a guy called Bryan Christensen who plays in an American Led Zeppelin tribute band called No Quarter. Does the best Jimmy Page you’ll ever see.
@@robphilpott43 What? I just checked them on YT playing Stairway live. Dude. The guitarist is nowhere close to Mr. Jimmy. It doesn't feel right. He is playing out of rhytm. Not feeling it much. Just not enjoyable band. Mr. Jimmy is way better "Jimmy Page" :-)
unfortunately sakurai wasnt praying to the occult demons that page was in order to keep an old les paul in tune through a number like this. this was absolutely amazing by everyone as always though
They are all great musicians! Why be Zepp when you could create your own great music? Not a slam because LZ was the greatest rock band in my opinion. I think you guys could do great things just being yourselves and creating new music.
Without a shadow of a doubt , these guys are the absolute very best LZ tribute band......And I said this 3 years ago...but why, oh why did they part company with 'Jimmy'?...He was unbefuckinglievable.............AS a band they did not just play like LZ they also all looked liked LZ circa 73-75........amazing....Having said that, the singer needs to work on his abs...........Awesome performance lads.....
Very cool but kind of funny seeing a guy so devoted into being exactly like Page. This is why Asians are looked upon very favorably, they don't do anything half-assed, if they are going to do something it is going to be perfection
Almost note for note to Dazed and Confused from the 1973 Song Remains the Same film. Wow!! Excellent lead guitar and Jimmy persona!! The whole band was great!
Thanks, Brandon! You know he's not EXACTLY where he wants to be, because he's still doing primarily studio versions of the songs with Jason. But it's awesome to see his skill, devotion, and overall approach being appreciated on the stages he's getting to play! It was so great that he got to play The Forum and MSG opening for Peter Frampton! I hope you're doing well, my friend!
Jimmy Page went and saw this guy preform in Japan. There’s a video of it somewhere on here. Pretty cool to see. That must have been the thrill of a lifetime to play for your idol. Jimmy was impressed as all hell in this guy for remembering every little piece.
Professor Time If you're gonna do a full Zep tribute, this is it. Not silly, not comical. These musicians are first excellent musicians outright , and they apply it brilliantly. Also, they're playing licks which are not absolutely note for note, but again, this is REALLY ARTISTIC. NO ear fatigue, this does sometimes happen with less capable tributes.
It's weird, I have followed Zepp from 1969 when I was 9 and seen them live over the years as Zepp and solo acts, but they have the live Zeppelin down so well that it's like watching it again for the first time because it's a new current twist on an old idea that keeps it fresh and reborn, it has a life of it's own now. I love that they only play live versions of the material and extended solos and they are spot on from the bootlegs on any era of Zepp. So now I find myself at times watching the newer live versions over the original Zepp versions because I have seen and heard them so many times, and then I go back and it's cool to be able to switch back and forth. I hope that makes sense. Well done and add keep adding your own ideas to the mix to keep it fresh.
That's the kind of comment that keeps you striving to be better. I showed this comment to the other guys in the band, and they all really appreciate it. Thanks so much, Joe! I can promise we will keep doing our best.
Makes perfect sense, and we are alike in this. Same thing I'm doing now. Been playing guitar for 38 years, and most of those I was elected to lead vocal by default. So I have to give the singer compliments too. Most people never realize how difficult it can be to nail vocals repeatedly over and over and over and.... It AIN'T easy! Robert Plant's voice is not exactly common run-of-the-mill
I always appreciate getting a nice comment from you, Terry! I'm hoping we'll be coming out to Chicago sometime soon. We've had a few things fall through, but the band usually comes through that area at least once a year...
Shows you how great Page really was to compose all this, he didn't just play it note for note like the studio versions. People call that sloppy, no, it's genius
Um, I just have to say that, led Zeppelin has actually changed my whole life and guitar playing as a whole and like, watching your performances has brought a tear to my eye, and I just wanna say thank you for doing this tribute and giving people a chance to experience zep live as closely as possible.
i have every note of this version in my brain-having listened to it 100's of times-and this is truly excellent stuff! Well done Mr Sakurai--when are you coming to England ?
Its joke man...everyone say "Zoso" n their guitarist is best tribute band led zeppelin in the world...i say please see this man Mr Jimmy Sakurai...the best ever 100% best ever...he can do lot an outfit jimmy style n sound...👏👏
Well, being respectful, Jimmy Page did it first. This guy definitely did it justice. Jimmy Page every bit was capable of duplicating anything he previously did. How do I know that? Well, because he was also a very great studio musician, and those guys are no joke. Jimmy Page could also play jazz or just about anything anyone asked him to play. He a smart hippie. With that said, I love Mr. Jimmy's guitar playing. He's an absolute genius and the closest one I've seen to Jimmy Page to date.
Well make Mr. shanlee or whatever tf his name is 76 and then we’ll see if he can still do it.... who’s to say jimmy page can’t repeat it if he tried anyways. Mr. shan didn’t even do some of the parts right anyways
It was definitely a labor of love, but it did require a lot of hours of listening to bootlegs and TSRTS. Jimmy Sakurai is great at keeping things moving along in all the right ways though.
Thanks so much, Graham! It doesn't always register with the whole audience when we bust out this version of the song, but it's a blast to play! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@KickItLikeBonham your welcome- I think your the drummer in the video- am I right? I forgot your name, though I think we talked before? how's it goin? what are you up to these days? That's what I'm talking about! There are a ton of amazing players out there playing Zeppelin with justice, but Sakurai is the total and complete package! I love getting to play drums with him to the music of Zeppelin!
I watched that video when Jimmy checked them out...I swear to God, he saw himself up there playing while he was watching, I think it did blow his freakin' mind, but he had a smile from ear to ear. I am 56 and I have been a Led Zepp fan for 47 years now and they put a new twist on an old idea and it sounds phenomenal and it's because they play live versions of all the material.
Ha ha wow you are 2 years older than me, I can imagine how much Page was blown away. I use to drive a Taxi in NYC - for 25 years - and picked up Jimmy once and got his autograph, really nice guy. That was back before they had cellphones, around 1987 so I never got a photo with him, but I was telling him how I use to watch the Song remains the same at the midnight shows at Wantagh theater - Rocky horror which I hated and Song remains the same, and he said that's exactly why they made that movie, so the kids who couldn't afford concert tickets or missed a show could see Led Zep live. Back then it wasn't like it is now where you just push a button and you can see Led Zep live on RU-vid on your cellphone. All you had was the records and magazine photos, but then you would see that movie and WOW it would blow your mind, the photos would come to life. Led Zep being driven from JFK airport - incredibly with police escort up the Van Wyck expressway to Madison sq, garden - and then darkness and they would explode on stage with Rock and Roll. WOW! That will never happen again, that intensity. Can you imagine what it must have been like to see that live? I hope Led Zepagain play around where i live now, I would kill to see them, these guys are unbelievable.
@@georgiethumbs2438 I remember going to see The Song Remains the Same every Thursday night at the 8th Street Playhouse in the Village even though the next day was a work day. This particular video reminds me of the movie so much because the guy on guitar had the same outfit Jimmy Page wore to that concert or something very similar. It was in the very early 80s I above the music I just fell in love with Jimmy from the first time I saw that movie on (LOL)! Long Live Led Zep
@@JoeGarchar1960 Just to be clear that was Jimmy Sakurai's Japanese Zeppelin band, not Led Zepagain. My guess is that Page has seen a few of these vids though. This one is extraordinary!
This guy plays Jimmy like nobody I've ever heard because Jimmy is basically sloppy in a good way and this guy can do it to the T it amazes me! I saw them when I went to see Peter Frampton and he played in the band with Jason Bonham they were great!
and of course it is Jimmy Sakurai!! Never saw these guys but is a must in my concert list! That said, went to see JBLZE 2 weekends ago and lo and behold it was Sakurai on guitar ... OMG.... the concert was over the top! Check them out if they are coming to your city JBLZE, they just got started.
Quite astounding! Jimmy Pages's gast must have been flabbered!!!!!!! Actually, JP does have aslightly oriental look about him, especially as he has matured!¬!These guys are bloody superb.......
Damn!! That guitarist is unbelievable!! He really nails Page down. I could believe that this was a live bootleg of his solos...except it's not as loose and sloppy as Page is.
Sherry Anderson! Good person there I know her. We talk regularly. I spoken with Jimmy "Akio" Sakurai a few times as well as seen him live with Jason Bonham. I'm really happy he moved on from led zepagain. I never liked Swan "the singer" I hope to see him live one day with his own band Mr Jimmy.
It’s pretty easy to be yourself, but it’s much more difficult to emulate someone else, especially when that someone else has a special talent that you yourself need to have within you to emulate.
That's an awesome way to put it all! It's an interesting journey trying to adopt someone else's instincts, especially when those instincts are considered so unique and special. Still, you know you're going to be just a bit more well-rounded on the other side of all that work...
Aye! Jimmy has pretty well dedicated his life to keeping the spirit of Jimmy Page's stage performances alive. It was a real honor to get to play this music with him!
The band is real good. Guitar player hits the notes 95% of the time he's good. The singer imo needs more practice he's just not putting his all into it. Not enough soul and at times like he doesn't know the words from watching other performances. Overall though they sound good. I grew up in the late sixties and the seventies it was my decade of raising hell. Zeppelin was king back then along with Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Little Feat, Pink Floyd, Sabbath and many other great bands . It was the best decade ever imo. So many good memories yet so many things I can't remember! We lost a lot of great musicians sadly and hearing bands play their music with soul pays tribute to the original members. I miss the seventies and all the great times, shows... Hearing this brings back a lot of memories.... Great tunes...
Ha, ha, ha, ha! I wonder if Thanos would've still carried out the decimation if he knew whether an intact Zeppelin (w/ Bonham still alive) would be part of the cost. I want to believe that would have made him reconsider his whole plan...
This was from early 2016. Jimmy ended up leaving the group in early 2017 and Anthony David joined shortly after that. The band itself was started in 1988, although none of the current members were in the group at that point. Which show did you attend, Vlad? And I definitely hope you still had a good time, despite the personnel change 😊
This is so awesome. Closed my eyes and listened to this, and forgot that I was listening to a Zep cover band. This really gave me the chills. The only let down was that for about 4 mins, Jimmy's low E was flat and outta tune, which rly sucked. Nevertheless, it was awesome.
Happy for you man. Are you going to be uploading tutorials soon? I understand you have a child and your obviously going to be very busy I'm just curious haha.
That's definitely the plan. My goal is to try and crank out a new drum cover once a month, and include a tutorial as a separate video to go along with it. My problem up to this point has been that it takes me longer to do the tutorials than it does to make the cover. I have a tendency to ramble quite a bit, so I need to spend more time focusing my thoughts and just working out the drum parts to be translatable. For some reason, that's easier said than done for me. Still, that's how I want to proceed forward from here on out.
That sound really good man. Cannot wait until your plan comes to fruition, I have one more question, how do you get these kits? I've looked high and low and I just got my first job and I wanna save for a Bonham kit, where do you get em?
It definitely has helped living in Los Angeles in regards to acquiring the kits, because Craigslist in this area never seems to have a shortage of offerings. Around 2010, it seemed to be a huge buyer's market, with really great kits going up for sale for very reasonable prices. I found my green sparkle and Vistalite kits that way, as well as 3/4 of the maple thermogloss kit. Some of the other kits I've acquired have been through E-Bay and just coming across a good deal at the right time. Admittedly, I still check up every so often on these sites now, not so much to buy anything, but just keep tabs on what is going on. It definitely seems to have transitioned back to a seller's market, with slimmer pickings, and higher prices for whatever is being sold. I would recommend checking out the 'Vintage Drum Collectors' forum on their website. Just do a search for that, and it should pop up. There is a buyers and sellers section. You can also try a search on Facebook for 'Ludwig Drum Collectors'. People put up some good stuff for sale for reasonable prices all the time.
😨I know it's in worship to Led Zepplin, but in some passages it's just aping the idols. But I also always disliked Elvis doubles. Though your Jimmy Page actor is really talented, it remains a copie. And I think you go to far in even dressing and trying to look and act like R.P. and J.P. . ( this is supposed to end up ridiculous, I fear.)
