Mr. Mime has some of my favorite animations and attention to detail in the whole game. The details may be small for sure, but they all make up into forming its own personality, which I felt wasn't present much in previous installments.
@@battlesheep2552 I rewatched the scene. The can was when he told Pikachu "You can shove it." It was drinking a cup of tea in the movie, because it was making a motion like it was dunking a teabag.
@@Gigatreecko nah, pretty sure it was supposed to be an olive, plus I think the way he held it and drank from it indicates it's shaped like a martini glass
The way he sits down while looking at you menacingly makes it look like he's a very angry dad waiting for an excuse from his kid and is about ready to give a beating
I feel like Mr.Mime should be creepy and just odd and weird but honestly, I love him. He’s just a clown having a fun time. He has like bugs bunny energy. Jynx on the other hand… no. Just, no.
This was the first game in my life where I actually felt offended (not really), and had that “oh, so you wanna go? you little punk” kind of attitude. And it all came from that stupid tea-sipping-mime-sitting act they got him doing. The dude was eyeing me from the side and it just…. Enraged me.
@@amandaclaireon4065 lol, that's the stupidest comment of the day... no wonder why many people still buy these games. Gameplay is not everything, Nintendo made a great work with Zelda and Mario, both game looks awesome. The laziness of Game Freak justified by people like you is the main reason they're making games like Ultra sun/moon and sword/shield
@@PfizerBioNTech5G i dont give a f,uck about graphics when it comes down to it Nintendo has always been about making FUN games , when i play mario i dont care for realistic graphics i only want to have fun, imagine thinking that every one wants the same thing as you when it comes to personal gaming taste , come back down to earth and get off your high horse there is a whole world out there and it doesn't revolve around your petty ego
@@wumpoooo Lets be real, they are bad by 2022 standard + a triple A game / company. But as long as the game is fun and consistent in term of frame rate,, its honestly not problematic imo
no way, that's so cool! i'm so glad they decided to make pokemon fully appear in the environment for this game, it really adds to the experience tons. it's one thing to just have this pokemon you own that can fight in a battle, but it's another to actually see what the battles really look like in the world with the sense of scale included
B4 I played I thought your party followed you around which would be sick but you can speak to them when they're out of the balls :) idk why they took away petting for this game it'd seem to make the most sense here
@@number420dad Completely agree. With all the other things they do to add immersion, this would have been the best time to keep it in! Better luck in Poké-Spain I guess...
As explained in another video that covered this - this isn't a direct Detective Pikachu reference, its actually a very common mime trick, I do it myself (I'm a lifestyle mime) - it's called The Park Bench.
The tea and the hand placement being identical too? Like, I get the sitting part, but the other two parts being identical as well? Absolutely, definitely, positively a direct reference to that movie.
@@jamestravers6665 The fact that it's the exact same tricks after sitting down means that it's a direct reference. Also, the hand that isn't with the tea is the *exact* same distance as in the movie. If he put his other hand in his lap or behind his head then I could definitely see it being just a reference to mimes in general. But. It's. The. Exact. Same. Movements.
@@cdogthehedgehog6923 It’s still a fairly common mime trick regardless of whether the movie used it first or not :) I’m not trying to sound argumentative but it’s funny they used this all the same
I tried catching ONE specific mr.mime and it was the most taunting 10 mins of my whole gameplay. Took 7 attempts and he didn’t care if I stood in front of him👺
I've really fallen in love with mr mine ever since the detective pikachu movie and legends arceus. What i at first saw as a skin man of a pokemon has now become a real fun character with a lot of personality
I was a little sad my Mime Jr. evolved since she was so cute as a baby and the Mr. Mime I caught wild was a teasing bastard to catch, but the animations spark joy to the point I love Mr. Mime now 😭
No, it was an accident. Tokoyara Mahashimaru the sound director of Game Freak who once worked for Monolithsoft and had a hand in creating Pokémon Legends: Arceus said they had an unused mp3 file and Mr.Mime animation from the art department where Akita Topiyama works and decided to meld them together for the final product. What you see here is what happens when game designers need to work quickly to get the game out on time, no connection to Detective Pikachu unfortunately. (Despite Hamitio Yarou working on the movie and loving Mr.Mime he didn’t work on the game and quit to pursue a light novel career before production began.)
Mr. Mine is either using psychic abilities when it does the sitting animation, or, what I don’t want to think about, it’s physically stronger than it looks
I didn't have nearly that much trouble catching Mr. Mime...in fact I caught an entire Break out...that took a bit longer. But once I realized that they try to stay within a certain radius of your avatar when you're inside their spawn zone, it made things easier.
