Mr. & Mrs. Latin ala Neil Jones & Ekaterina Sokolova • Euro Dance Festival 2016 • Show am Sonntag den 13.02.2016 im EP Dome in Rust • 1080p www.imagicmuc.de
Hmmm mm well I'm a chunky monkey and I'm damn sure when I dance it's only happening skin deep because the outside doesn't seem to match up. Take the pissed out of fat people all you like but you'll never know how hurtful people can be till you are , which means you lack knowledge which makes me cleverer than you. At least when clowns who were in fat suits backed their suit up with funny hair a ping pong shaped noses and massive floppy shoes. I wonder how many of the audience were embarrassed by this and were polite laughing. What if someone had the guts to stand up during their performance and shouted that they didn't like it and caused many others to do the same . Now That would have been something to see.
In a world where almost any remark concerning anything is socially censored for being too offensive to minorities, I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people are still publically allowed to ridicule big people. I am a big girl who has been dancing all her life and consider it my holy and safe space where I am surrounded by nothing but nice people and fun and where for once I can forget that I am heavy because I can feel like I can fly. Seeing someone dishonour this safe space of mine with such a tasteless shameful performance like this is just... I dont have words for it. If you guys believe it or not, we too are humans with feelings and with the freedom to pursue and excell in any damn sport or hobby we like. Absolutely embarrassing that something like this is broadcasted and supported by this channel.
I had a big girl Latin dance teacher who moved like a hot knife through butter. This is a joke and not the right message to portray. Not funny at all. I know skinny people who are as clumsy as hell. John Lindo is an example of a person who uses his size well. Dancing is supposed to be expressive and sensual.
How you could ever think it would be appropriate to pretend to be plus size dancers is beyond me. It looks a lot like ridicule in my eyes, ridicule to people who have the possibility to be just as talented as you are. Have respect for your fellow dancers, enough respect to not make it so as if someone is only allowed to be fat as a joke, as a suit you can take off. Everybody can dance and and the word "Everybody" includes people with the most different body types.
Trust the perpetually offended brigade to find fault. The people who complain about this are the same people who say that perfectly in proportion slim models are 'too skinny' and bad role models. I'm overweight and I'm NOT offended. You're welcome.
@@MoleyRusselsWart_ ... dammed if you do dammed if you dont . most of us are unhappy about the way we are . got to make the most and try to be happy and healthy
@Claire Aiken Santa Claus costumes all have padding yet lithe people can give gifts to people on Jesus' birthday. ie your point is...... errrrrrrrr...... pointless
As someone who is plus size at first look I felt amazed that someone would have the courage to go out and dance and then I realised it was a suit, being "big" isn't a joke people think it's a choice half the time it's not I have a health condition which means I put on weight easily and ever since I was little I loved dance but I would be bullied and made a joke of all the time to the point where I lost all faith and confidence, now I struggle with self confidence and self esteem to see this is shocking that's all I can say ...
Please take stock of your life . There's plenty of support out there . Dance is s great form of exercise . This video is not meant to be disreptful its a bit of fun . They are to professionals that take their dancing very seriously.
Listen to the opening. Please welcome retired World Champions Mr and Mrs Latin. Loads of dancers get fat after retiring, but are still amazing dancers. When they put on shows they don't have the energy they used to, but their quality is still there. I don't think they are making fun of fat people, it's more pointing out that fatness doesn't stop you being a great dancer.
All the people complaining about fat shaming, you DID hear the intro, didn't you? 20 times world champion, Mr. and Mrs. Latin! They're making fun of OLD people. No, I'm kidding. I respect if you're offended by this, but I think it's more about retired competitive dancers that take themselves too seriously, than making fun of big people.
With good technique the weight doesn't really affect you that much. It's like a spinning top, as long as the axis is straight and the weight balanced it doesn't fall over.
@@Azenithf Ballroom and Latin is primarily about lower body movement, particularly below the knee, so I don't think it would be that restrictive. There's a video by Travis and Jamie Tuft to baby shark where Jamie dances in a shark costume that is much more restrictive, it's definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it. It would be boiling though.
People get over it. Yes they may be fake bodies but they are not making fun of anyone it is just a joke. They didn't say that fat people could not dance in fact they did a very good dance so that should show that now matter what size you are you can tango. So stop hating on them
I see the positive message behind it but i also see why people could be offended by it. However i dont agree when people have a go at the people who are offended, i think that's wrong. Everyone has different opinions and you don't know people's stories so just chill lol
Wonder how many of those complaining are overweight. Research before commenting, that way you'll make yourself look less stupid. I'm overweight and not offended. Their interview explains it all.
I dunno, I'm a fat dancer and feel pretty ridiculed by this. The general dancing in fat suits look quite cool, its the lifting failure jokes that ruined it for me.
@SM if you have to research the message behind a dance, then it isn’t a very good dance! My issue wasn’t with them wearing fat suits, more the fact that they pretended to struggle to perform some of the moves like the lift! That was just downright making fun of overweight people. They missed the mark in this one I’m afraid!
I’m big, and just s “wee” offended, but for 99% I thought this was cute to be honest. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe because I have dark humor? Or maybe I know how to laugh st myself? 🤷♀️
Given that they are Mr and Mrs Latin coming out of retirement it's more about how lots of dancers get fat after they retire, but can still dance amazingly. I'm pretty sure that it's not to laugh at fat people dancing, as the jokes theyake exist is non-fat suit dances as well.
LOOOL I NEVER NOTICED THEY WERE NOT REALLY OVER WEIGHT UNTIL I READ THE COMMENTS.WELL JOKES ON ME YOU GUYS DANCED BEAUTIFUL AND SUCH GRACE AND YES IM THIN ONLY WEIGH 70KG BUT I CANT BELIEVE YOU OVER WEIGHT PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING . IF YOU HAVE AN PROBLEM WITH YOUT WEIGHT DO SOMETHING.DONT ALWAYS REACT LIKE ALOT OF LOSSERS. GET RID OF THE WEIGHT ITS ONLY YOURSELF TO BLAME UNLESS MEDICAL PROBLEM. YOU GUYS ARE VERY POOR TASTE FOR BITCHING ABOUT AN STUNNING PERFORMANCE. DONT COMMENT IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT YOU SEE. I WOULD BUY TICKETS ANYTIME TO WATCH THESE TWO PEOPLE DANCE THEY TRULY AMAZING.
I know this is meant to be a joke but what kind of message is this sending? That overweight people dancing is something to be laughed at. Completely at odds with the message that they should be sending out as Strictly stars. Dancing is for everyone - you shouldn't have to be slim and gorgeous to take to the floor without being mocked...
Helen W , understandable. I posted a comment to Sarah Kinney in this thread where Neil and Katya explained their reasons behind dancing like this. If anything, this dance showed immense talent that overweight people have if given the chance to shine. I've known overweight people, and was one myself at one point, and all were confident with dancing. It shows the world not to judge based on appearances.
ExuisiteCoils. Great that you went to the effort to try and get an understanding of what was behind this . As I suspected the idea behind it was a noble one and not meant to ridicule or shame anyone. I feel though that if they had taken out the comic aspect it may well have achieved its desired message. As it's presented here however and I think you'll agree, it's not a good look.
@@joetesta3352 I agree with you about taking a more comedic route. The negative feedback is understandable regarding fat shaming, because no one should feel bad about the way they look. I was somewhat relieved they clarified the meaning of this particular dance.
I feel I must add to this chorus of disapproval. As always in my comments I try to look for a positive and be constructive.. Perhaps they were actually trying to say and show that see, even large bodied people can move well. Well, if it was, then in my eyes they missed the mark by a long, long way. For so many reasons UTTERLY WRONG.
Actually they are portraying old latin champions who have gone to seed but who can still dance. Dancers often do put on weight when they no longer dance and there are a few dance teachers in the dancing world who are just like this. This is an in-joke. Also I have seen a clip of Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova dancing in fat suits and nobody batted an eyelid!!
