Some of the best writing, acting and directing I’ve seen for a streaming show. The series gets progressively better and ends with a grand crescendo. Worth every minute.

Exactly. Most woman still like good RomComs. Hollywood is determined to not make them, so they have been watching J and K Drama at an increasing pace. Same with action movies where good guys outsmart and defeat the bad guys, cheesy comedies for a light hearted laugh. There is a reason why Netflix has invested so much content from these regions. It's actually filling the demand that Hollywood seems adverse to cater to.

What y'all are just saying that you want Hollywood to do what they have always been doing. To pander to the audiences and fans and to just be about profit instead of the art form. Y'all criticize Hollywood for doing the same thing over and over, which is fair criticism, but at the same time want them to do the same crap. "Sorry Hollywood, you can't pander like that. You have to pander to me specifically".

The 2005 version IS NOT the original. Scott Bakula and Maria Bello made one in the in the 90s. The first movie titled Mr & Mrs Smith was made in the 1940s by Hitchcock even though it was very different and was actually a comedy!

Just binged this show and was not anticipating to like it as much as I did. **Minor spoiler ahead** You could describe the ending as a cliffhanger and while I would like to see another season, it occurred to me that if they did end the show on this note, it’s almost a commentary on how relationships actually are in life. You never really know if it’s going to work out, you just decide it’s what you’re going to do, take a leap of faith and hope for the best. Jane doesn’t know if her relationship with John is going to work but she’s willing to risk her wellbeing to find out. She can stay in the panic room (representing safety and comfort) OR abandon what is safe, make herself vulnerable and see where things go!

A show that challenges the viewer or asks them to look beneath the surface is a good thing, but that doesn't mean the story has to be boring or the characters monotonous, the normal viewer doesn't want to see something pretentious either. @PupGuti
@PupGuti 5 месяцев назад
I don't like the aspect of working together, what was appealing to me in the movie was that they had their secret identities and it all went downhill when they got the mission to kill each other which made for a super fun moment, their fight was a version of theraphy, they aired out their grivences as they shoot each other, and that made them bond and setle their differences, that fight made them decided to change their fate and work together to remain together. If this show pair them together for jobs from the start it breaks at lot of the fun that leads to their main conflict.

My wife and I watched the first episode last night and we really liked it. It is very well grounded and slowly builds a relationship right in front of your eyes from first meeting, learning about each other, dismantling the wall one builds when meeting a stranger, all while trying to survive threats all around them. And it seems, after watching the montage of clips of what to expect later in the season, it gets sexier, dire, and have much more action all while keeping the prestige aesthetic and visuals similar to shows like House of Cards. I think the first episode is enough to reel you in.

This show is really good. If you don't compare it to the movie and realize the show is a completely different thing you can really enjoy the show. It's not a remake but a world building sequel. I would love for them to do a season 2 with another Smith duo and learn more about Hi Hi, the Company, and their competitor.

The 2005 movie was just pure fun. Didnt really think about the drama behind it. Great action, lots of laughs, a smidge of emotional moments equals a great watch. I dont mind a slow burn show that challenges its audience to look deeper as long as its entertaining. Give me some laughs, a few moments of intrigue and i'll happily keep watching. Wandavision was a good example of this. The first few episodes were kinda boring but there was enough intrigue to keep me invested and made the payoff even sweeter. And we got the wonderful return of John Krasinski as Agent Jimmy Woo which was magical😁 Defs will give this show a chance

If you like Glover's style, you'll like this show. What it lacks in action compared to 2005 movie, it makes up for in writing and acting. Erskine and Glover have good chemistry. Solid 87%

I can understand wanting to remake a film from 50 years ago. But a 2005 film? 😂 Pointless and a waste of money and time.

This show is brilliant. I totally agree that the tone of show is very reminiscent of severance and the action scenes reminded of the game uncharted!! Perfect show. I hope they get a second season.

Hmm. You're singing its praises, but simultaneously telling me it's boring by encouraging people to stick it out till episode 5. I'll give it thirty minutes. That's my best offer.

So.. what you're telling me is that they are using an established name to sell their show (that could have had any other name). I absolutely despise when "creators" do that.

Technically an established name is just any other name as well that's what they all are at first right just ideas? Seems like you would want to be copied instead of forgotten if those are the only options
@Linklex7

@@chakkra69that’s your fault. Hell, Pitt & Jolie were more established names than Glover is. The original tv show had Scott Bakula.

Starting episode 7 and enjoying it a lot...and I have limited tolerance for anything too rom-com-y and/or gender imbalanced. Hopefully a bigger second season budget can ratchet up the action quality a bit. But maybe the best sign that a relationship can last past the honeymoon is how comfortabl (or playfully) it sits in the relative silence between action.
