Mr. Robot tells the story of Elliot, a guy who suffers from social anxiety disorder, and is also the world champion at hacking. This is the kind of show that will get you thinking about how the world works and maybe help put things in perspective.

this was honestly one of the greatest shows ive ever seen... like during each episode my mouth would be on the floor in awe from beginning to end. i loved the way it showed the majority of the characters ways of thinking but at the same time leave the characters motives a mystery. hands down the greatest show of 2015

+Joseph Hilliard Definitely also high on the list for me on "Top of 2015" (which is a thing I'll be doing!)

I agree with your review but when said the bit about calling money the operating system of the world and they should talk like normal people, i think you got that wrong. "Normal people" in this show are techy people, if they were athletes they would relate ideas to sports scenarios to explain a concept. so to them and like minded viewers this is a normal conversation used in the right context. I agree and hate when shows use buzzwords and make up tech. this show really does get it right and that was a huge draw for me. In most shows everything is solved by pinging a cell phone and getting an exact address (arrow being the worst offender) I was really glad to see this was nothing like that and the psychological aspects of the show being the focus, not the technological.

+HypnicJerk Love your observations. I get that they're techies and use these concepts to explain themselves (I do the same everyday with my co-workers). I just felt that at some point it became a bit much and got a point where I didn't but it anymore (i.e. "no one talks like that"). Again, wasn't a huge deal for me though.

I was unsure whether to watch it or not, but you totally convinced me- thanks for the recommendation! Also, worst hacking in "Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation" where they pulled an ID from a DRAWING of a person of all things. Seriously, HOW?! It didn't even really look like her!

+redhidus I'd like to! I'm wondering if I should keep doing the comment discussion format that I did for a bit or just do a spoiler talk where I just talk about my own opinions. For big show a live stream might be fun!

I found much of the show about hacking and coding, and while the viewers who actually know will appreciate the accuracy but needed more of characterization

lol I laughed at the "money is the os of the world" part because I disagree with you on that, nerds compare EVERYTHING to our "object of nerddom" like how everything is superheroes when I explain stuff to people, even unrelated stuff like "If hulk payed 30 dollars for his pants, and got angry four times... etc" lmfao So I could totally see a hacker comparing everything to computers and I noticed that too and was like "ohh man how nerdy, I love it!" Good review man! I'm sorry all those damn people got their living all in your shit. Like.. go be alive and do life stuff somewhere else! And keep off my lawn you damn kids! hehe ;D

P.s. you should totally do spoiler reviews, as I'd like to hear your thoughts on a certain thing that happened with the reveal at night with the female ... and if it follows with my thoughts, because honestly I had NO CLUE. I was shocked by that more than any other reveal..

As a programmer/data scientist and cyber security enthusiast, I didn't think the show was innacurate at all really. The most innacurate part in season 1 is an off-kilter remark by the young business guy who I can't remember the name of when he says " Oh Gnome huh, I use KDE myself, I know Gnome is supposed to be newer and better but maybe I'm just old fashioned" Well KDE has a lot more users than Gnome does. Perhaps not anymore, as Ubuntu replaced Unity with Gnome, but my point is that Gnome is actually very unpopular with Linux users. I love it and think it's the most well organized stacking desktop experience you can have, but that's just my personal taste.

I really liked the show, but my main problem/disappointment was, that it was very much advertised as a show about hacking, which as you said it is not. I liked the way it was, but I would have also loved to see a show focused on the hacking theme with realistic hacks. Maybe a show about the bit socially awkward Elliot, working at a security company during the day and being a vigulanty-hacker at night, "fighting" against the bad guys with brilliant tricks and a lot of preparation. Basically somewhat a superhero-show kind of showing how real hacking looks like and that its not just 2 minutes of keyboard smashing but days of preparation. my favourite "hacking" quote: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hkDD03yeLnU.html

+Binge Watchers Absolutely AMAZING show. There's just no way to describe it in words and that's why I'd love to see your take on this show. season 1 was good, some people said it was too depressing but, myself, I loved it but season 2 took this show to a level that I have rarely ever seen in a show until Bloodline, especially season 2. Just, WOW!! Anyway, SEE IT!! It's probably more worth your time to watch than anything on right now and I, like you, would never suggest a show that WASN'T worth your time. This show is absolute tv magic at it's finest and gets a 10 out of 10 from me!! It really changed the way I look at everything I watch, which is kind of bad because I'm constantly looking for that next show that will make me feel what I felt with this show and constantly coming up short, even with the likes of The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Flash(I'd rather watch Daredevil anyway), Preacher. Anyway, I'm rambling. Before I go though, be sure to check out Outcast. A better Robert Kirkman product, in my opinion, on Cinemax. It's a pretty special addition to it's genre that has really drawn me in every week, waiting in anticipation of a horror show with great acting, writing and production

not only do they not make IT guys cringe - they got most of the stuff on point and people actually made guides about some of the stuff they used and the things presented, the thing is they present a "red team" kind of style(which is appropriate to the plot), btw gotta give rami malek the heads up for the prep work on the show(he actually met with a real psychologist to get into the character of someone suffering from severe social anxiety, the psychologist also became part of the cast after 3 months of prep work with him) therefore some of the reason stuff gets compared to tech stuff may be because of this for whoever's interested in the subject after watching the show: null-byte.wonderhowto.com/collection/mr-robot-hacks/

The character of Elliott as a protagonist just seems like a failed attempt to me they tried to find the balance with the "smartest man in the room" trope and the "lonely relatable" one, while some shows have achieved to get both of them in their character like Matthew Murdock, here it failed

i loved this show personally because of well, the correct use of technological terms and such and the psychological aspect to a degree, it did become somewhat over whelming and this show might not be as enjoyable to the average idiot, do you know what i mean?
@BingeWatchers
@BingeWatchers 9 лет назад
+PorkChop Review I don't know about "the average idiot", not sure I sympathize with that sentiment. I think that while the technology theme is heavy, the show is approachable to anyone who'll enjoy a good drama, techie or not.

I agree with that but to be honest I think that that the techie-ness made it a lot more enjoyable for me

*SPOILERS* I get that it's an IT series remake of Fight Club, but that wasn't what the show is set out to be, that is, until the reveal.. plus, it would've been fine if it wasn't for the plot holes because of the twist... no real screen time of Mr. Robot himself to foreshadow it or anything... in Fight Club, when you watch it the second time it is so damn obvious, but here it's just weird and confusing. still, great dialogue and premise.

+Hamzeh Sameeh Man, I always look forward to your comments :) I definitely also made that comparison when I watched the show, and it actually might have been TOO similar to the movie. Still, I think that the show holds its own with the premise and well its made. Maybe they felt they needed that angle for additional shock value, maybe there was another way to show us Elliot's deteriorating mental state, that would have a bit less of the WTF effect. Very interested to see where they'll take this in S2.
@hamzehsameeh8305

honestly, I think they didn't figure the show will be this much of a hit within the first 3 episodes.. I've never seen a show that went viral faster than Mr. Robot, not even Game of Thrones managed to have this much viewers before the 9th episode. and I also look forward to your videos Ron.
