No doubt about it and wow what a weird perverted change has happened in just the last 20 years! If only more of America had the values Mr. T has and was promoting in the 80’s then this whole world would be such a better place. Unfortunately the world has the moral values of people like Pedo Joe Biden smh!
He knows more about taking only great roles than the other guy who used to tell everyone to "know your role, and shut your mouth " apparently his role is anything with a check at the end of it.
..no trashy roles... yeah America's toughest bouncer is right up there next to academy awards,, OOPS I mean the Nobel prize ceremony for world peace and general philosophy on the no-trashyness scale...
Mr T is such a funny guy. But he also makes serious points about poverty, struggle and human goodness. He is a great guy. I hope he goes on for many years to come.
@@rum-ham I understand he is projecting a tough, over the top character, as he would be accustomed to doing as a bodyguard, and as the audience would expect after playing Clubber Lang, but fundamentally, most of his responses seemed honest and straightforward.
@@neuvocastezero1838 Yeah I think there's a lot of truth in what he says and how he portrays himself. I just meant that he is in on the joke. He gets why people are laughing and he is trying to get them to laugh, like when he said his middle initial is "." 😆
I used to know a big goofy white guy named Mitch, he was the biggest Mr. T fan he went so far as dye his hair ( just to different)purple, the cut it into a mohawk, wore over 20 gold chains around his neck, one had a medallion that was a big letter G,a ring on each finger a couple of them had a G on them. He said to us a work that from now on he wanted to be called Mr. G ! Mr. G we asked what does the G stand for, he said it stands for great, everyone responded-- we thought it was for Goofy !!😀Speaking of Goofy, they wouldn't let him and his friends into Disneyland, but I think because of the t-shirts they were wearing, one said Kill Mickey, the other one said Disney Stinks !!! Not because Mitch( Mr. G) was trying to look like Mr. T! Don't know what became of Mitch because that was over 30 years ago, but he was sure a character!😀😀
Honored to meet Mr. T in person back in 2000. Such a sweet sweet person. I love how he brought so much intensity to this interview to great effect and held it until his REAL personality cracked through right at the end
From what I rememebr , Mr. T was one of the most soft spoken, and humble people in real life. When asked why he wore such ragged shoes when he had so much money, he replied... I have a nice house, a car and all this gold, but I'll never forget where I came from, and pointed at his shoes. Gotta respect that 🤘
He got rid of the gold after Katrina. I think he said God told him that it would be disrespectful to wear gold with so many people poor and without homes after the hurricane.
My mum( who's an 80 year old Scottish lady) when she saw him on the A team intro, was always " I love his smile, he's got such lovely smile" still cracks me up
Ummm he wasn't smiling he felt disrespected and he was 😂 and if you listen to him he was disrespected the day before and disrespected today and he didn't feel like being disrespected on the show cause he was disrespected in every other possible way
8:52 that ever so subtle smile and glimmer in the man's eyes. This guy is obvs a legend, I've known about him since I was 4 or 5 years old in the mid-90s, but nothing could prepare me for the amount of heart and sincerity he approaches every single path in his life. Whatever his upbringing was, Mr. T knows what he is about and knows the value to his presence. He really wants to educate, advocate, and entertain. Very inspiring use of his talents and I hope to follow in his footsteps in this way.
So much charisma, intelligence and wisdom. I feel he was capable of doing much more than he did outside of film and television. Regardless he is still a star that shines bright. ✌️N❤️
Man really loves his community on the south side. He pours his heart, life and money into it and the people there. He’s a real hometown hero, yet he’ll never admit it. Best example of humility.
Mr. T was truly original. He has always maintained a tuff guy persona. All the while he's very witty, giving back to the community and just being a good person.
I just saw it for the first time. As a child of the 80s, I only knew him from The A-Team. This interview shows him in a different light. Very impressive.
Even as a white kid from PA, Mr.T was my absolute hero as a kid. Still to this day such an awesome person. Glad my childhood idols didn’t age poorly and still retain their amazing qualities.
That's what I remember the most. Some of those bits were gut-busting funny! I remember Conan's charting Mr. T's progress in terms of "fools pitied" over the years and feeling like I was laughing at two geniuses.
@@anuncolonizedmind6296 never asked a eunuch either, of course they were from all races so of course not. specific agendas and biases perhaps? ask the people of Africa, did they use chains, huts for captives or did the buyers bring their own?
My Irish ancestors were oppressed and enslaved across the atlantic and colonised by the British, Catholic church, and now global corporates. We just didn't have any cool haircuts or any style for that matter to revive, except for our love of potatoes. Ask an Irish person, they will have very firm and serious views about potatoe crisps. Offer them Walkers or Lays and you'll get a long lecture about 500 years of English servitude.
Another example of "they don't make them like they used to". I was always a fan of Mr. T. My grandfather used to watch and record episodes of the A-Team when I was a kid. He used to love Mr.T and Murdock.
Mr. T the one and only. Love the man. People use to say he had the A-Team van parked in back of his home in Harvey. I stayed in Markham and always wanted to see it but never did. That van was the shyt.
My wife-unit ran into Mr. T a few years ago. He couldn't have been nicer, more genuine or more humble. He even gave her a Mr. T sound effects keychain for me. SO nice!
Mr T was the truth!!! I grew up in the 80's and he was definitely a force to be reckoned with then and now. Mr. T is a born again Christian 🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 #goodinterview 3/11/2022
I remember watching this when it aired and have always remembered the part where he said my first name is Mister, my middle name is the little period and my last name is T. It’s cool to see it again after all these years .
This is one smart guy! I use to think the whole outfit was just kind of a wrestling kind Of gimmick, but everything about him has a message and history behind it! He controls and commands his own life! I love that!
Well said. You remember him as a caricature, probably. He had become so wildly famous, that we lost track of both his authenticity and his incredible charisma/ talent
1980s will never ever ever be duplicated. the shows, the films, the celebrities and personalities, the music, everything was original and fresh back then, now everything is just a computer generated imitation of 1980 films already made.
This guy is way deeper and much more thoughtful and truly decent than people Gove him credit for. Listen to what he actually says. Great guy. Hope he's still well.
As a comedy fan today I can see that Mr. T is a real comedy genius. In 2023 You don't get whole comedic personalities that never drop out of character. People like Andy Kaufman, Mr. T, even Sgt. Slaughter were unique products of their time. I can't think of a single actor today who method acts a character so hard off stage the character incorporates into their actual personality. This is like a historical time capsule into a type of acting that doesn't exist today and its amazing! Like imagine if Dwayne Johnson never stopped being "The Rock" and just kept it at 100% peoples eyebrow for 30+ years. Its remarkable.
Such a great character actor. Legend has it that when he went to the Rocky 3 premiere with his mom, she stood up and told him “I didn’t raise you to act like this” and walked out. Mr. T is a real treasure.
Rocky 3 shot Mr. T up the Hollywood ladder, later on landing his other iconic role as B.A. Baracu's in the A- Team with elite actors like George Pappard. Good for him , he's a good dude. Also he's a God fearing man, he's not a sellout like alot of today's actors/artists
I saw him at a buffet in the late 80's. Pulled up with Mrs. T each in his and hers Rolls-Royces. I'd never seen a person eat as much as he put away. It was amazing. Plate after plate after plate. Restaurant lost money on him that day.
There is a sense of honor and importance to performing security work. I can relate to what he is saying. Some of us feel like we were put on this earth to protect others. Mr T will always be humble, inspiring, and entertaining.
I never seen him smile before. I only watched him in Rocky movies, but wow he has a amazing smile and he's handsome.. what a guy with a warm heart and soul! He's pure gold! Wish all men are like him.
What a great and likeable personality. He does possess that kind of Muhammad Ali charm and wits about him and you can clearly see that his tough guy persona is just an act and that he's really a cool guy with a great sense of humor.
Growing up in The '70's and '80's, I do see some similarities between Muhammad Ali, and Mr. T. They were both bigger than life, and they were about helping people.
Mr T is a virtueous person w a lot of character which is missing in ppl today. He was and is a great role model for me and others. David is a gem of a host.
I was always a fan of Mr T. When after his fame with A team, his cartoon, amongst his other work. I had the opportunity to see him in person he was in downtown Los Angeles he would volunteer and bring donations to the homeless shelter. I asked, "What are you doing here ?"he said," I come to volunteer. He was also a preacher. I will never forget his humble and good soul. God bless Mr T. He left such an impact in my life. MR T, I AM A BETTER PERSON BECAUSE I SAW MY HERO BE A REAL LIFE HERO ! MY LOVE AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALWAYS ❣️❤
Hard to describe. This man never bent towards flattering or impressing others. He sat in a rare chair of being himself to the best of his ability. Unlike another I know with a similar trait he puts out no hate nor animosity nor need to prove his bravado. His spirit purpose was upliftment. When you understand him from his world not your own, he was confident not Arrogant. And Appreciative.
Mr. T was everyone's role model...period. Very positive influence. I wish I could hug this man and say thanks. He deserves a hair more respect from Dave.
It seemed like Dave definitely respected him. Was probably even a little intimated by him, Mr. T was serving him up joke opportunities. He seemed very interested in Mr. T's story. Though not as relaxed or as seasoned a host that he would later become.
He's done good work his whole life, worrying about others instead of himself. I've watched him growing up and definitely learned a few things, and this is a very old interview, so pretty interesting
