Sweden hasn't had any masks, lockdowns, social distancing, etc for MONTHS. Restaurants and malls are open and busy (many videos of this), and their deaths have trended down to almost zero from a peak of over 100 per day in mid December. Please explain.

@@TASIAawful1 Yes its a mystery this variation in response. My sister and brother in law went together and both escaped side effects which did set me off wondering about different batches. Most people I know had a miserable 24 hrs that kicked in about 8 hrs after having the jab.

I had the virus in June 2020. Had mild symptoms for a few days. Went to Quest labs in July to see if I had IgG antibodies. I did. In Dec 2020 I did another test. Still had the antibodies. In February, I did 2 tests. Still showed the IgG antibodies from Quest and had Adaptive Biotechnology do a t- cell test thru their T-detect platform. Got the results 6 days later showing I have the T-cells too. So, why would I ever get or need a vaccine? I haven't heard anything in your talk about an antibody passport. I will be furious if I have verifiable antibodies and T-cells and not be able to travel. Please address this issue as I am not alone

The only reason for a vaccine for you would be for the new variants when those vaccines are ready for the public. Pfizer claims to be able to neutralize the new variants. But both Pfizer and Moderna are upgrading their vacs to better handle the new variants. I doubt you have AB or T cells for new variants that are occuring allover the world. Reinfection has happened with new variants sometimes only a couple of months apart and usually more symptoms than original D614G. France now has a new variant that doesn't show up on current PCR tests.

@@notsogreen I like the info and can you please share that link of the new variants causing infections in those that have already had the virus. Love to learn. Also, T- cells, plasma cells and antibodies from acquired immunity just don't attack just one part of the virus. The Moderna/ Pfizer vaccines only produce antibodies to the spike protein. Our bodies will produce antibodies, etc to various parts of the virus , like the capsular protein. In fact, if you go to Quest Labs after vaccinations and get their IgG antibody test, you will turn out neg because Quest tests for antibodies to the capsular protein and not the spike protein vs LabCorp that tests for antibodies to the spike protein.

Sorry Doc, I have to disagree about vaccine passports . What about the people who want travel but for whatever reason cannot take these vaccines, are they not supposed to travel. Not to mention that this disease is really only serious for older people so why would a person under 30 with good Health worry about getting a vaccine. Also why would one worry about someone getting on the plane without being vaccinated or not if they themselves are vaccinated . I thought that was the point of getting vaccinated so that you don't have to worry running into someone who isn't.

as of now Test for Covid-19 is require 24 h before departure in all international flights and IT can be done for $200+ ;) :) in most airports. Apparently the vaccine do not prevent anybody from catching the virus YET just prevents as from becoming very sick and dying. There is still a lot unknow....and in mean time is a good reason to making $$$$ test machine, just like taking your shoes off.... spread your legs being X-ray now you do the test and wear mask all the time if you crazy to fly or like me MUST fly

Regardless what you might think of him if none of his supporters get vaccinated you will keep that virus forever long after other countries have eliminated it because unlikely to reach herd immunity without them. So it is good he told his supporters to get vaccinated, it will save a lot of lives actually. Doesn't really make up for his creating the situation in the first place but it's better than nothing.

I'm a Brit in Germany. Was due my AZ on Sunday which is now cancelled. In my state of Baden-Württemberg, I have been told to keep my second appointment for late May, which says to me they are hoping to get us done and back on track before then. They do mention that those of us that had appointments cancelled might be vaccinated with AZ when reapproved or rebooked onto mRNA slots. Hopefully sooner rather than later... Mallorca is like benidorm to Germans and it's crazy to me that plane loads of people are going back and forth unobstructed, especially with cases rising in Germany.

Don't give Scott Morrison all the credit. It was QLD's premier (state leader) that went to Scott Morrison and said that we need PNG vaccinated because they are so close to us geographically in QLD. And you can bet Scott Morrison only gave our doses that were meant to be shipped.....not knowing if or when they will arrive. He should have offered to help by sharing the ones we are making here. If he was genuine he would.

You don't understand the demographics of Republicans, we are not sheep & we don't need government to tell us what to do with our lives. As a nurse like you, I make my own choices, I decide what's best for me & I make health decisions for myself. Maybe they will get degraded with newer ones over time but they are at such a high efficacy to start with even if they are lower in the foreseeable future they will still keep you out of hospital . There will also be tweaks to them anyway to maintain their effectiveness. Low chance of death ? Well there are around a million families in Brazil and US which will argue with your position there and that includes two in my own family.

It is the same here in Italy as well. It's already into a third wave. There are 26,517 people in hospital and 3,317 people in intensive care. At the height of the second wave last November there were around 35,000 in hospital and 3,800 in intensive care. Interestingly there are fewer cases, yet hospitalisations are almost the same. Perhaps the UK variant is driving the third wave. It has been reported that the UK variant causes more hospitalisations and sadly death as we saw in the UK a few months back.

I checked the number of people in Somerset England, my health authority, who had at least one jab and it was a high 54% by 7th march. Add in those who have had Covid and the rate of immunity must be pretty high by now...

Yep, I calculated we have over 70% herd immunity in the US between the vaccine and people who have had it. At this point the Covid tests are becoming less of an indicator and medical facility availability monitoring is the important thing.

@@christopherrobinson7541 Correct me if I'm wrong: Can be imputed by average death rate from Covid of .3 % by the population of the US 330 million equals 990,000 deaths if complete US population infected. Official deaths from Covid stand at 542,000. This is a low number since Covid deaths are undercounted here in the US for political reasons, I'm not here to argue this point. Actual Covid deaths are probably closer to 650k. % of the folks in the US that have died from Covid divided by total deaths imputes the population percentage that has had Covid at 65%. Now we add the porportional percentage of folks that have been vaccinated, calculated 38 million have some level of immunity from the vaccine as of a few days ago divided by the population of the US 330 million equals 11.5%. 65% of these have had Covid leaving 4 additional %. Now we take the 65% of the population that has Covid and add the incremental amount of 4% that have been vaccinated and we are looking at 69%. Most official sources place the percentage to reach herd immunity for upper respiratory viruses at 70%. I'm thinking with Covid's high level of contagiousness probably more like 80%. So we are close. About a month out max at current infection and vaccination rates. Covid will continue to kill but will be a low risk of overwhelming medical resources thereafter.

@@christopherrobinson7541 Thanks! 1. We will have to disagree here: With CFR being estimated at 1.5-2 in the states the current IFR is probably less than 1/5 of that. Plenty of solid data supporting this. Couple of episodes ago Dr Campbell reviewed some solid data that pegged the IFR in the .2-.4 range. I am continuing to research this very important piece of data for knowing where we are in this pandemic. 2. Vaccines improve resistance but vaccinated people still test positive as evidenced in Israel. 3. Agreed that new variants are the wildcard, still awaiting better data out of Brazil. I suspect those getting killed in Brazil by the new variant had not had Covid yet and people that already had an earlier version are helping spread it. Frightening possibilities. 4. The US had been doing a poor job sequencing new variants until recently. Here in LA we just got clobbered bad Dec-Jan, still burying people. It was a "new" California variant. It was hellacious how fast it spread thru all my neighbors. 5. I'm watching the hospitalizations and deaths, the positive tests are of less and less value as people get it the second time or more and after getting vaccinated. 6. I am getting a T-cell test Monday to see if I had it back in Dec 2019 when I had a bad flu like illness with Covid symptoms.

Bringing in digital certification is ok IF people have had the opportunity to get vaccinated. Sitting here in Sweden there's little chance of me getting vaccinated before the Autumn. I have an elderly father in the UK whom I haven't seen for over a year now. I have to face the very real possibility that I shall never see him again if that rule comes in.

Had a second phone call from my doctors surgery today. Caller was quite aggressive, told me to book a vaccine or take myself off the list! I asked if they were the only 2 options!!! Explained I had particular circumstances to consider and eventually this shirty caller agreed to defer for 6 weeks. Not a pleasant experience. I am aware that doctors do get a bonus for achieving a certain percentage of patients vaccinated!

Every day, I check in using the Zoe COVID Symptom Tracker app, and every day (in my county in Pennsylvania USA), the number of people reporting symptoms is virtually the same. I see 8100 cases +/- 1% every day, without exception. I don't see how this is possible, given that more and more people are vaccinated every day.

People in the US who aren’t getting vaccinated aren’t making that decision because of what former President Trump says. They will continue to hold out for MANY reasons. It’s a popular MYTH that people follow Trump blindly- the press prefers perpetuating it instead of actually trying to understand who they are. (And I’m in the process of getting vaccinated- not an anti-vaxer).

Why would you take the AZ vaccine for the second shot? The current guidelines are to have both shots of the same vaccine. Mixing them hasn't been tested yet. I know what you mean though about not worrying about blood clots with the AZ.

If ppl have to have been vaccinated for a week on cruises there is literally no reason to do masking and distancing or else they're basically confirming that vaccines don't work. I am going to be more sympathetic to anti-maskers from here on out. If you say you've been vaccinated and then use that as an excuse to not wear a mask, I'll take your word for it.

Thank you for the truth about everything! I liked the video about the problem of behavioural changes that may account for the increasing cases of infections after vaccination. I would like to add though that my experience getting my first dose of the vaccine was very negative. In my county the cases are very high. The indoor vaccination sites are not well ventilated in my opinion and also too many people gathering in relatively small places. Some of the staff had symptoms. Among those who showed up for vaccination there were a number of individuals who also had symptoms. Unfortunatelly the negative developing behavioural pattern of putting off vaccination untill someone starts to have symptoms and only then deciding to rush to get vaccinated creates the new hazard of turning a vaccination site into a mass spreading event. This alone can easily account for the high number of cases in my county. Because of this new threat vaccination sites should be set up outdoors! I hope that in some future update you will talk about these issues.

But I'm not going to cancel my jab today: I had covid almost exactly one year ago and although it was very mild (possibly because I had just been tested not to be deficient of D) it was still too scary.

Vaccination one week before travel doesn't seem long enough time for the antibodies to be prevalent at the time of travel. Everyone normally books travel way in advance. Also in the UK we have a national insurance number which is unique to every individual above the age of 18 so they could use that to look on a database to check for vaccinations.

How do blood Clots form exactly? My Mum died from a clot in her lung, which I presumed came from a sore or wound on her leg near her ankle, but she was adamant she was not going to the hospital!! Unfortunitly she died the same day as the Doctor came to see her. I think she was concernd she wouln't be leaving there alive. But ultimate;y she died anyway, Can you tell me could they of saved her?

If a mutation like this happened, its strain will die out very soon. Only the ones that is able for h2h transmission will be prevalent.

Of course a virus could mutate that way but then it would simply die out as it wouldn't be passed on to anybody else. That's not how evolution works - it favours mutations that can spread more easily, not those that can't.

In the US, at least in NYS, we get an offical CDC card that list the vaccine used and dates administered. Also, just signed up for a study to determine antibodies durability in seniors. Blood draw now and one in six months.
