Many Truckers are boycotting. I've been trucking for 35 years. My son has been trucking for 5. We won't go there again. Besides, many businesses treat truckers like crap..making us wait forever to deliver a scheduled load or pick up a scheduled load. Not to mention it's nearly impossible to park a truck there or any place close. Unless BIG Changes in attitude happen in NY, I imagine their future isn't looking too promising right now. When a bank asks the borrower to provide an estimate of her house, it is just an estimate so every borrower over estimate b/c everyone like to believe their home is worth more than it is. Bank generally give 30-40% of home value so the higher the estimate, the higher chance for bigger loan. Bank always does their appraisal so at the end it doesn’t really matter to the banks. This is an industry issue. If the govt wants to regulate this practice, pass a law to require borrowers to provide an appraised home value by a licensed professional (not estimate). Basically NYC attorney and this judge went after only trump and shut him down because they don’t like his politics. This is what political prosecution like look.

However, the bank already has estimates of what a normal person’s house is worth via various data services. It is unlikely someone would get a collateral loan declaring their property to be two or more times than what it is worth. What is the industry average for real estate valuation vs declared value?

Very true and this is what I don't get about this whole case. The banks can't just go off based on what the borrower is claiming the property is worth. The bank is supposed to hire an approved third-party appraiser to get a value on the property.. And I do believe this is already a law that was passed right around 2009 after the financial crisis.

@@elkillerx it looks like Trump originally claimed the info was based off of third party valuations. However those recommendations were ignored or contradicted. After the 2020 interview with the AG, Trump’s financial statements were changed to say that the third party info was only one of the factors that *may* have been used for the estimate. So I guess that’s the answer.

Will it? I mean it's pretty straight forward. For example for trump tower Trump claimed x amount of dollars per squaremeter and then multiplied. Than resulted in a value. The problem was that trump handed in documents where the square meter amount was not the real amount, and therefore he could undervalue the worth in front of the IRS&save taxes.....You can argue about the rest bout that alone is pretty straight forward. He was pretty much found guilty based on documents he himself handed in...

If you look up a property in the same area that Mar-a-Lago is in, you can find a property around 22,000 ft.² approximately one third of size of Mar-a-Lago not including the golf course and it’s going for almost $200 million! There are beachfront property with trees in it going for multiple hundreds of millions of dollars!

What I am amazed by in this whole case is that the judge, media, etc. all seem to ignore the fact that the banks and lending firms are professionals at making these loans. Do they really think that they just take the word of the borrower? They all have experts capable of accurately appraising the collateral properties. They know exactly what's happening in these transactions. They develop their own assessments before they make the loans. If the lenders didn't do their due diligence and validate and adjust the numbers, they would all get fired. It's all nonsense.
