Dude, Love the content. I was born and raised in NY and used to frequent the diamond exchange in Commack, NY. They would always try to buy the gold without paying for the diamonds as if they were worthless. I caught so many fraudsters in there that they finally let me in let me in and I was able to work a bit with them and get good prices on gems and gold. But that was over 20 years ago when I learned how to smelt homegrown in the garage with the door open and an industrial fan while using propane to heat. Pretty sketchy but certainly fun. There is a certain feeling I get when I create something and jewelry has the ability to be very beautiful so that dopamine hit was way harder than making something out of lead, which is what I started with to learn. I never got good. Getting good required someone to learn from and I moved out of that area before I finished learning. To this day that is one of my regrets but now that I am older and would love to figure out something that's NOT CASH to hold onto for the future, this looks like the way. Again, kudos on the content.

The question you need to ask is what is the AD price from Rolex? What would Wempe, Torneau, Rolex on Fifth, sell this watch for at regular retail. What is the regular retail price? If it's $14K and he paid $14K then Mr. Beast didn't get ripped off he just paid regular retail for a brand new watch. The pawn shop low balled him and he went for it, they made a good profit, but they know they can't sell a Rolex for full retail, they are a pawn shop. Lot's of people don't like to buy anything on the grey market and would rather pay more (not over retail necessarily) to buy directly from the brand boutique or authorized retailer of the brand. What would Peter Marco sell this watch for?

I worked in both a pawn shop and a big box jewelry store. The prices at the jewelry store were crazy compared to the pawn shop. People are willing to pay more to buy from a store... Jewelers know they could get some good deals in own shops. I know bc I had a couple customers that were jewelers that bought for the stones and / or the gold.

Yeah but when you buy a Rolex watch from aftermarket sellers you better take it to someone you really trust who knows Rolex watches. There’s too many ways to get ripped. How would you know if a Japanese movement and all sorts of counterfeit parts didn’t come together to make your watch? Everything looks great on the outside except it’s a parts watch. Even buying from a Rolex dealer doesn’t guarantee you aren’t buying a counterfeit but it helps. People come in to authorized dealers and try on watches and watches have been swapped out for counterfeits or so the dealer says. Who knows how many times it’s happened? He’s not warning people of this stuff because he’s probably bought a few parts watches himself before he learned a little. If he’ll admit it is another thing.
