I been a MRI tech for 4 years! If you have high anxiety I have a few tips for you! Bring a friend or family member to come in room with you! Ask if they have music for you to listen while getting scanned, cover your eyes with a wash cloth or ask your doctor for a sedative before you schedule the test. Also ask the tech to give you a count down during the scan. Ask them to talk to you every 3 minutes. This really helps.Remember breathe normal. Pretend you are going to sleep or think about a fun time and just focus on that. Avoid caffeine. The tech will always give you a emergency call button if you have to come out. Ask if you can take a look at the machine before the scan. If this fails , look for a open mri in your area.
@@gooee34 fortunately medical grade titanium implants are paramagnetic and that means they won't be affected by the magnetic fields created by an MRI machine 😁! If you have metal implants of any kind though it's always best to bring it up with your doctors and technicians ahead of time, there are still scenarious where the type of metal implant might not be safe depending on the manufacturer and the specific composition of the metal material. Additionally some older metal implants are more likely to not be compatable with an MRI as in recent years much research has been made to advance metal medical implants that wont interfere with a payients ability to recieve MRI's later down the line should the need arise. A good example of this could be seen in pacemakers, there are plenty of newer models compatable with MRI magnetic fields, however there are still ones that exist that are not paramagnetic! Thats why no matter what its important to be upfront with your medical team beforehand 😁👍🏻! In the instance that an MRI is not feasible due to an incompatible metal implant a CT scan would likely be ordered as the next best thing, and if it's a serious enough scenario they sometikes can medically remove an incompatible metal implant, however due to the stress on the body and the cost on the patients wallet this is generally reserved for the mosf unusual and serious situations where a full MRI scan is required and where a general CT scan simply won't cut it! Hope that helps, even if this is a year late 😁😂!
They never say anything about makeup. I did a little research and it said some makeup can contain a little metal due to minerals in the pigment. But they never mention not to wear makeup during the scan.
I'm scheduled for MRI on Tuesday. Please share your experience with me here. I'm kinda claustrophobic. I don't know how long I'd be able to keep cool inside!
The best thing is leaving your house wearing literally nothing but your clothes... Who goes to the get a MRI wearing earrings and bracelets 😅 However I had a lot of fear and anxiety but when I managed to calm my body down I weirdly enjoyed it as well as the loud sound 😊 it's scary to watch from outside but once you're in the just count or mentally sing along with the beat of the magnets 😂 After it was done I felt silly of being scared 😂
Im getting an mri done soon i had one when i was younger but i didn't know what it was actually for but now that im older i know its just to scan your brain to see if you have a any issues going on and if u do u can get treatment
Yes.. I have a question.. I had an MRI scan and they put a plastic cover over my head.. Why. ? As I see in some of these videos they don’t .. Why. ? I didn’t mind the scan, but this cover over my face freaked me out. !,
Thank you very much! I'll make sure to wear an oversized t-shirt so I'm not too uncomfortable without my bra. Although I dropped my tongue piercing in the sink 🥹
Oh no!! I got to have this done for my neck I am scared I hate the MRI sounds I am closterfobic of the MRI but my good news is I a.m having a open MRI I am a little scared but not that bad!!😞😨😦😐😯😕😁
@@space_4736 Glad to hear! I know the feeling... Had another one just yesterday and started panicking towards the end.. Hope you never need another one, or at least not for 50 years!
They let me wear my lee jeans with zipper and metal rivets. Belt buckle gotta go. Talked about putting on scrubs but my ordinary t-shirt was acceptable. I removed my lower partial plate for my own sense of safety. it has metal parts.
