Why some Covid-19 vaccines were developed faster than any vaccine ever.

Researchers working on Covid-19 vaccines have smashed speed records, bringing new vaccines from development to distribution in less than a year. They did this with the help of billions of dollars of unprecedented global investment -- but also, in some cases, with a new type of vaccine technology.
There are four traditional types of vaccines, and they all require the growing and handling of live pathogens in a lab, a time-consuming process than can add months or years to development. But two new types of vaccines skip that step altogether by moving that work from the lab to our bodies. mRNA vaccines, like the ones from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna; and Adenovirus vaccines, like those from Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca; do this by sending genetic instructions directly into our cells, which then produce the harmless protein the body needs to learn to fight Covid-19. Because these proteins are produced from within cells rather than injected from the outside, they may be less likely to provoke adverse reactions in the recipient.
The result has been a host of vaccines developed faster than ever. But it's also ushered us into a new age of vaccine technology, one in which we can send our own bodies the instructions on how to protect themselves. That technology is already being used to drive research on vaccines for HIV and cancer. These new types of vaccines are weapons we developed to fight the coronavirus - but their real impact is just beginning.

This video focuses on the two new types of vaccines, but as we say at 2:00, not all Covid-19 vaccines fall into those categories. Here’s a list of some of the leading vaccines, and which types they are: mRNA vaccines: - Moderna - Pfizer-BioNTech Adenovirus vaccines: - AstraZeneca - Johnson & Johnson - Sputnik V - CanSino Recombinant protein vaccines: - Novavax Inactivated virus vaccines: - Bharat/Covaxin - Sinovac - Sinopharm

How much faster were the mRNA and DNA vaccines developed compared to dead/weakened virus ones? India and China both are giving vaccines with dead/weakened virus and doesn't seem like they were much late in the timeline. I am afraid I don't exactly understand the advantage of mRNA vaccines if we are investing billions of dollars and getting them out for people just a few days earlier than the traditional route. Or is it that the mRNA vaccines are better in their efficacy?

Can someone please explain to me (I’m genuinely interested): if the body itself produces these proteins that are detected as “dangerous” by our immune system, and then the immune system fights them, that means that the body learns to fight itself, something that the body produced. How it may affect the body in the future? Because I feel like what our body produces has a purpose and so the body isn’t used to fight it off (unlike the virus that is alien to the body) and now when it’s told to do so, can it possibly cause bad consequences in the future? Also, for how long this mRNA stays in the cell, so how long the cell is gonna read and follow the instructions? Sorry I know nothing about all this but I’m very curious to learn
@dominikroth2000
@dominikroth2000 3 года назад
Technically, the spike protein in it's structure and sequence is still a viral protein even though it is synthesized by your body. If there would be a human protein that would have the exact same structure as the spike protein (by coincidence), there could be an autoimmune reaction. But proteins are so highly unique, that this chance is probably equal to zero. I can't give you an exact time on how long the mRNA stays in your cells, but it will decompose rather quick as it is chemically not very stable (hence the extremely low storage temperatures). I also think the spike protein will not stay in your cells for long, as it will be degraded by your cells. What stays are the antibodies and immune cells specific to the spike protein of Sars-CoV-2.

The day after my second injection I felt so bad I couldn't move out of bed for two days. No vaccine has ever had this effect, which proves that it was designed too quickly without worrying about the side effects. Even when I had the flu several years ago I was not that sick. First of all: you either did not understand or you did not watch the video. Our DNA has nothing to do with this. There is the mRNA vaccine, which uses RNA that comes from the virus. That RNA is then read by your cell to make proteins that are usually on the virus but are harmless on their own. There is als the DNA vaccine, which uses DNA from the virus and puts it in a harmless virus so that your body can learn to fight the real virus. Second of all: I and many others don’t mind genetically modified fruits and vegetables at all, as long as it has been tested thoroughly for safety.

Hi! It's understandable to have questions about the vaccine. I'd like to try to respond to your concerns here. mRNA does not change your DNA. Let's go over what mRNA is and how proteins are made. In your cells there is a part called the nucleus. It contains your DNA. When your body needs to make a protein for things like transporting nutrients or making up things like your hair, a part of your DNA is copied. That part of your DNA is a gene. It contains instructions for making the protein. Your DNA is too big to leave the nucleus, so your cell makes a smaller copy of the required gene. That copy is called mRNA, or messenger RNA. Then the mRNA leaves the nucleus and in the cell its instructions are used to make the protein. Then the mRNA is broken down. At no point in this process does mRNA change your DNA. The mRNA for the Covid-19 vaccine is used to create a part of the virus that's harmless on its own (a "spike protein") so that your immune system can learn to recognize that part of the virus and build up the necessary antibodies. I hope this information helps!

@@Xaltov 1 no one has FORCED vaccines on children. 2 so the fact that children become a reservoir for the virus then spread it to family, friends, who then spread it to others is not reason enough? 3 that children become infected then allow the virus to spread amongst them selves through school etc thus allowing the virus to mutate into other variants is not a reason?
@jimmyswaggart1189
@jimmyswaggart1189 Год назад

@varyolla435
@varyolla435 Год назад
@@Xaltov Okay = so how does transmission occur then???? In the meantime let's play "the critical thinking" game. 1 - a virus can not replicate let alone mutate absent = a host. 2 - viruses in the body are neutralized by antibodies. The more antibodies you have the more viruses can be neutralized. 3 - vaccinated individuals have antibodies on board = whereas unvaccinated do not. 4 - thus based upon above = unvaccinated are far more easy to infect - and thereby infect others - than vaccinated people are. Because vaccinated already have antibodies in them their viral loads are typically less than unvaccinated who see the virus replicate unchecked for days until their own immune systems can develop sufficient levels of those antibodies to counter it. This means infected unvaccinated will by definition shed more viruses into their environment than a vaccinated person whose "viral load" is typically less. 5 - ergo the main drivers of vaccine-preventable illnesses = unvaccinated. Moral of the story: if you have 10 unvaccinated individuals then you have 10 "at risk" people who are the easiest to infect. If you vaccinate them and owing to high levels of exposure in their community where incidence levels are high say 4 develop "breakthrough" infections = 6 have not. Ergo you reduced what was originally 10 at risk individuals down to 4 = a net reduction. So it may not be rocket science - but it is science. The more people vaccinated the lower local incidence will be -------> which means people vaccinated or unvaccinated will be at less risk of exposure -------> which cuts the virus off from potential hosts making transmission difficult = until eventually transmission might be halted entirely - at which point any potential "vaccine failure" becomes moot. If however you have a lot of unvaccinated you are giving the virus a large reservoir of people to infect - and having done so to potentially mutate itself. Think harder.
@ex8280
@ex8280 Год назад
@@varyolla435 immunity is just part of the issue, the other issue is how safe is the vaccine itself. For instance the manufacturing process, the ingredient used, and it's actual execution when in the body. Yes it creates immunity that's a great thing, but not much is known of the vacsine itself. Here are some assumption most people make and some findings that contradict the assumptions. People assume that when this vicsine goes into the body, the mRNA goes into the cells and create the spike protein and dissolves in a few hours to a few day. This unfortunately not true, in a recent study it was to have been found to be generating spike protein for over 60 days in the turn of gland. So there is no real study on the implication of having spike protein floating in your body for months if not years. In that same study it also contradict the idea that the vaccine stays in the site of the injection. Everyone assumed that this Vaccine would stay within the injection site like that of traditional vaccine, but no. In this study it was found inside a person's thyroid gland, along with its spike protein. This would also confirm the leaked Japanese data that was given to them by pfi zer about half a year ago. Finally production method. This one it's fairly new and comes from Australia. There was a FIO for information on certain batches of vaccine that have harmed people. In this finding they revealed that not only did Pfizer knew the potential of having bad batch, that they specifically had their own batch be held back for inspection for their own employee. Another interesting aspect of this finding is that these batch had an experiration date that was a year longer than the others. Intentional? Very troublesome if true. You will have to look these up yourself, as it is mostly too late to do anything. Once injected, it is very difficult to remove from the body because unlike a real virus, it is hard for the body to distinguish a vaccine infected cell from a healthy one. Hopefully for everyone the doctors were wrong about the inflammatorial nature of the spike protein too.

@@varyolla435No duh because we're being silenced and canceled. It's people like you who aren't willing to listen that flatout just assume that anything you don't agree with = misinformation. @@ys3593 You know - probably not - that you just showed all = you do not understand the very science you "try" to invoke...... Moral: abiding by science is to accede to = _"possibility of error"_ upon presentation of credible evidence - and thus corrections of those errors. You meanwhile just whined about supposedly being "canceled" - yet ironically enough you got your opinions out here. Thus as noted above you do not recognize what others noted - even when those others indicated your assumptions are in error - because of course = your assumptions are all that matter to you. In your limited mind things are magically real because of course you assume them to be as such - which is the path to self-delusion by the way. Here in the real world things are real because = the evidence shows them as such - not because some "believe". p.s. - "you" are not "we" and thus = you do not speak for "we" - and "we" happens to want the vaccines by the way. Also I spent years learning the science here whereas I'll bet you = did not..... - nuff said. I "listen" to credible evidence which you have twice now failed to provide.

@@varyolla435well actually, “we” which is the vast majority of humanity at this point have collectively rejected mrna and viral vector vaccines. this has been demonstrated by uptake once mandates were lifted and vaccine uptake fell by roughly 83%for the last booster and only 9percent of children aged 6 months to 17 years. by the by, i got my information from paul offit. he knows more about vaccines than you could even dream about.

@@JK_JK_JK Even though, I don't know the exact numbers, I can tell you with 100% certainty, that it higher for unvaccinated people. It kinda proves my point, how common logic dictates that stuff. @@JK_JK_JK Apologies, I don't know that stuff and didn't wanna play doctor google. In the end, this question is completely irrelevant to my original comment. I asked, what the problem is. The exact numbers are literally of no meaning here, just that vaccinated people have a lower mortality rate. Since getting vaccinated, which is the equivalent of wearing a helmet at a construction site, should be no problem, I still can't see the downside. Would you, as the clearly superior being here, take some of your most valuable time to explain to me the reasoning behind your opinion? I would very much appreciate it.

the "new instructions" in my immune system also made it weaker, explain that one
@varyolla435
@varyolla435 4 месяца назад
Easy = your immune system is apparently weak then.......... At any given time your immune system is contending with a host of microorganisms. Thus if exposure to *A WEAKENED* vaccine proves too much for it = your problem is idiopathic rather than the vaccine which simply delivered a weakened/dead pathogen or antigen to your system.
