I dont get what the monkey did to mrs coulter the monkey is the most sweetest thing ever and she treats him like that like why i dint no why shhe got gufted an amazing cute creature like him 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
He is so beautiful, isn't he? Phillip Pullman(I think that's the author's name) was such a genius when writing the books, it's so complicated how Monkey is Mrs. Coulter's soul, it's self loathing and mistreatment of herself, but it's so much more devastating when you see it portrayed this way, because Monkey is also a separate being too, her soul outside of her body. At least that was how I understood it. It's so hard to watch those scenes where she is mean to him/herself.
So in the books she had a hard childhood. She wanted to disassociate from the world and part of her “monkey” stayed sweet while she became more manipulative. After Lyra was taken she became more involved in the church. While younger she experimented trying to separate form her demon, but eventually it became a habit which is how he’s allowed to go so far away from her. And the reason why she was so strong in the end with controlling the wreaths was because she could distance herself from her soul. in the end, her sacrifice her soul was allowed to be at peace with her. it’s truly beautiful and sad at the same time especially when you also think about all the times that she is literally abusing herself and never comes to peace with herself at the end
I never cared for him especially after what he did to Pantalaimon. The quick smack to the head was a little funny. However, she went a bit too far with a boot kick to the butt and slowly tormenting him with the Spectre.
