As a former house cleaner, I'm living through this. Love the aesthetics. I wish there were more movies made about working class women, especially older women like this...and I'm a millennial saying this.
there is a older version of this movie, one more realistic ... i think is a true story ... they made this one more millennial ...she got her dress in the other movie and went back home and wear it all the time in the house watching herself in the mirrow ... and then that was all ... her biggest dream and achievement was a dior dress
I wasn’t expecting to be so enchanted by this trailer - I loved the Angela Lansbury film and this one isn’t trying to replace it, just add a new sheen to the story. Lovely!
I read the Reader's Digest condensed versions of the books when I'd visit my grandmother in Vermont in the summer. I was a pre-teen before there was a pre-teen section in the library, so these were the first all-engrossing novels I read. I enjoyed them very much and read the accents - both french and english - in my head.
I read the book as a child in the 50's and always have loved it. I have a few of Gallico's cat books but not Mrs. 'arris Goes to Paris. To see that it has been made into a film with one of my favorite English actors is grand.
The original book was "Flowers For Mrs Harris". I have read many of the Mrs Harris books and enjoyed them. Film adaptations I avoid as so often they are disappointing.
I didn’t realize that this movie was a remake. It looks fantastic and it will bring this touching story to a whole new audience. They couldn’t have chosen a better actress to play the titular role!
Technically this movie isn't a remake of the previous ones. Yes its a third adaptation of the novel I know but they're going back to basic with the novel so it's more so an adaptation of the novel than it is a remake of the previous movie as they never credited the previous movies as source material
"He looks like my milkman", my favourite actress nails it again! A hint at the Angel meets Dior and Audrey Toutou does the trick, a feel good comedy about the inexistant Paris we all dreamt of. And why should we not ?!
This movie reawakened my heart! Was absolutely magical and I shed a few tears! Lesley Manville is so exceptional! I can’t imagine anyone not smiling through this incredibly lovely movie!!
Loved it and it reminded me so much of my mum as she was a house cleaner too and let me even tag along when I was little. Good, honest hard working people who worked their backside off for a few quit.
I met Lesley Manville in The Phanthom Thread and I loved the chemistry between Daniel Day-Lewis and her, they made me believe they were actually brother and sister in real life. I am looking forward this movie!
I adored watching Angela Lansbury, Omar Sharif, and Dame Diana Rigg in the original as a young girl. It made me fall in love with French fashion and bemoan the fact that I was born in the wrong era so I’m couldn’t wear these clothes. Looking forward to this remake!!
@@mananimal3644 You won't be sorry. I have loved the original since I was a child. I just hope this new lady can do it justice. She has a tough act to follow in Angela Lansbury.
She's done massive blockbuster films, small indie ones and then the odd light-hearted TV programme. She has very varied ability with her acting! Looking forward to seeing her take on Princess Margaret
I saw the musical ‘Flowers for Mrs Harris’ based on the book the film is based on and it was wonderful. This looks wonderful too, especially with Lesley Manvill
If the trailer brought me to tears, I cannot wait to see the movie! Absolutely thrilled Hollywood is putting out something that is positive and encouraging. THANK YOU!
Don't forget to check out Lesley's audiobook work as well! She does the narration for several books including Richard Osman's "The Thursday Murder Club" series and Anthony Horowitz's "Moonflower Murders." (Yes, I like Murder & Mystery books. LOL!) I just love her for those as well as her acting work. Can't wait to see this movie, too. xoxo Christine in sunny Colorado, USA
Ilse Meysel did the German version in the ‘80ies. ‘Ein Kleid von Dior’ Fantastically. Just want to honor Frau Meysel, who has now passed away. Looking forward to this version with one of my favorite British actresses.
It isn’t really a remake of the Angela Lansbury TV version, it’s another adaptation directly from Paul Gallico’s novel. It’s only really a remake when the original is a movie not adapted from a novel or play etc.
I read this book when I was little. I never would have believed it would be a movie someday! Can't wait to see it. I do believe it's "Mrs 'Arris Goes to Paris"
Ughh finally another classy Paris movie!! I’ve been having to rewatch the same ones and Ratatouille I’m so in love with the idea of going to Paris. This movie looks so cute and just what I’ve been looking for I’m excited.
By the end of this year, the world will known who Lesley Manville is. This movie looks wonderful, and she will be brilliant as princess Margaret in the crown 👑.
