Why the hell didn’t Susan just say “why did you bring over a burned Pyrex measuring cup, which you can get at target Walmart, even Walgreens? Why would that be mine and not Edie’s? Every household has one”.
Well, Susan is a softie, following good morals. If someone died in that flame, she would freak out like in the last season when she helped bury Alejandro. Even a possibility of her being suspect for burning Edie's house down would be devastating for her.
If she'd shown any remorse for blackmailing Mary Alice then maybe Paul wouldn't have killed her, but she wasn't even sorry and made out Mary Alice was a bad person for trying to protect Zach. No wonder Paul acted on his rage.
Then again, Mary Alice killed Deirdre, but then again Deirdre was a bitch who sold her baby for drug money. You know what? Everyone in this mystery is a shit, including Martha's sister Felicia and Deirdre's dad Noah; Mike was the only real victim, and maybe Paul because Mary Alice roped him into all of this.
@@AlexG-tf9bi I agree with most of what you said except that Paul is a victim because Mary Alice roped him into it. Paul definately was not the victim. He chose to be roped in. The moment Mary Alice stabbed Deirdra, Paul could have called the police to have Mary Alice arrested and told the truth to the cops about EVERYTHING, including how Deidra sold their baby to them. Not saying I would have liked that kind of storyline but it would have been the write thing to do. I am just giving an example of what Paul could have done that would have been the right thing.
It's a shame that she got killed so early in the series...she has that sinister/sweet vibe nailed! Better than any of the other characters IMO. What she said about Mary Alice at the end was horrible though, so she kinda brought it on herself.
I thought the 1st season was excellent. Then I lost interest in the show and stopped watching it during season 3. My biggest complaint was they were killing off to many good characters who created hilarious conflict like Mrs. Huber.
@@MirageCA818 show was high quality until the 5 year jump in season 5 although around season 3 after marcia cross left it became terrible. Seasons 5 and 6 were poor but 7 and 8 showed solid recovery.
@@shanefolan Unfortunately for us, Marcia Cross was pregnant during season 3 and was put on bed rest by the doctor, so they filmed some scenes in her bedroom to tie up her storyline for the season and left for the remainder of season 3. That's why Edie was moved forward in the last episodes of season 3.
yeah marc cherry said he wished he didnt kill her because he didnt expect the actress to do such an amazing job, but her death was always planned for sweeps from the very first episode.
agreed the 1st season was the sharpest and had the best writing/direction in the series, after that it was never as strong but the 1st 4 seasons were the best. After the 5 year jump in season 5 the show was never consistent anymore and became hit or miss.
In a way, it's a shame Martha Huber was killed off. With her mix of false neighbourly pleasantness and diabolical scheming, there was great potential for Martha's own spin off show. I envisioned the narrative structure of every episode being like this: Martha's nosiness helps her to uncover embarrassing or scandalous secrets about her neighbours. Martha then tries to elaborately blackmail them for help with her financial problems, but is hilariously thwarted by the end of each episode (like Susan does).
I hated this woman. She reminds me of our neighbor when we moved into our current home. Always trying to make small talk with my wife even though she knew we wanted nothing to do with her. Once she came up to me and I gave her a side eye. it was the last interaction we ever had.
Blackmailing means threatening without disclosing, and this is just the case, considering that Mrs. Huber threatened Susan of chopping her in little pieces, without explicitly saying it. On the other hand, the different action of making demands supported by threats is called making extortions.
