We vie and compete with others in pursuit of these and lose sight of the hereafter. Allah reflects this situation in the following verses: · “The mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things) diverts you, Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die)” (Quran, Surah At-Takathur: 1 - 2). He also says: “Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have been occupied yourselves in worldly things)” (Quran, Surah, At-Takathur: 5).
