Have heard innumerable renditions of this kriti by various artistes through the ages, but MS amma's rendition trumps them all...such technical perfection, faultless pronounciation (of both the sanskrit, and the telugu), and above all, the bhaavam flows through and floods one with just the right emotion...hits the spot !!! Most artistes concentrate on the swaram, and forget the respect that the sahityam requires....but MS, always made that extra effort to get the Sahityam perfect!!

After listening to this recording of "Janani Ninnuvinaa" by Smt. MS Amma and Smt. Radha amma, Sri Maha Periyava is reported to have complemented Smt. Radha and said that she could be conferred a Doctorate for Co-singing, based on rendering of this particular song alone. Of Course, I do not know whether any one thought of conferring Doctorate on Smt. Radha but the complement of HH is more than all the doctorates in the world. I feel all blocks in heart opening up listening to this sublime Divine rendition by Subbulakshmi Amma for the Amma of all.

This is one of the well known 'repertoire' keerthanam thats part of / sign of a mega cutchery in olden days! Subbaraya Shastri emerged out as an outstanding composer with this having swarasahitya-chitteswaras and perfectly giving all elements embellished rendition. many say that he did get an identity by this., otherwise will be known only as son and student of Syama Sastri alone! We should know that Syama Shastri asked Tyagaraja to teach him. He had the opportunity to learn a few krithies from Muthuswami Dikshitar, also learned Hindustani music from Meru Goswami, a musician of the Thanjavur palace, and from Ramadas Swami who was a recluse...lives in solitary life and who lived in Tiruvidaimarudur near Kumbakonam. As this song - Janani ninnuvina (Reetigowla) became famous, he composed his kritis in praise of the Mother Goddess. ......Ninnusevinchina (Yadukulakambhoji), Venkatasailavihara (Hamirkalyani) and Sankari Nee (Begada), Sharing this song is a class tribute to MS Amma on her birthday She had sung so beautifully and smty. Radha Viswanathan's rendition together with M.S at a higher tone added colour to the recital! Pranams to the great soul.
