MSFS 2020 | How to Use a Takeoff Performance Calculator - Get Flex TO Temp [Tutorials]

Wondered how to get that Flex To Temp value in the MCDU on the A320neo in Microsoft Flight Simulator? Well, using one method - I'll show you how!
As we'll explain in the video - it largely is based on the older A320-200 and not the Neo so the weight/balance tab is likely not useful at all to us in MSFS 2020 - but - the Flex To Temp should be ok for us to use, and the tool allows us to plan for intersection departures too which come in handy during busy airport events on the VATSIM network!
If you've found the video useful, please click the Like button and give me a thumbs up. I'd love if if you click Subscribe too while you're here

Want to use the free-to-use Performance Calculator I used in the tutorial? it doesn't exist anymore sadly but you can find an alternative one here -
perfcalc.pradz.de/ or search for VAS Airplane Toolbox for an even better free one

Good to hear! 👍 For a MORE accurate Flex To Temp using that website, select the A319 option too - the Leap1A in the a320neo makes it perform more like an A319

Another wonderful video! How do you know when to use Flaps 2 or 3? I did a takeoff from Gibraltar and if i remember correxcty i saw somewhere flap 3 settings for the particular takeoff. How do you know in advance. Is there a chart we can apply?
@BritishAvgeek
@BritishAvgeek 3 года назад
You look at the runway length and depending on performance of the aircraft, weight etc you'd select flaps 2 or 3 accordingly

Hi good video but a question please the FOB is 5K kg you put 3.4 KBS lbs but in the speed calculator application you put the fuel in LBS instead KGS i'm a bit confused

back then the FBW had value splits and other things we had to work around - not so much a problem any more though

Can explain if there is a difference between v1 and the military refusal speed ? Or are they the same ? Do the margin of safety can impact a longer or shorter refusal speed versus V1?
@BritishAvgeek
@BritishAvgeek 2 года назад
not quite sure what the military refusal speed is... V1 is the speed at which you're basically committed to taking off if something happened, so if the engine failed just after V1, you need to takeoff and deal with it - if that's the same?

As Will said - currently it's a value that'll become active in the future but it's certainly good to get into the habit of using it now routinely. Naturally it'll restrict power in due course

I once flew from EFHK to KJFK (~3600nm) with an a320, arrived with like 500kg/1100lbs of fuel, barely for 15mins of flight(?) after flying for ~8 hours lol.

I found a decent a320 takeoff/landing performance calculator, although it's an Excel file, so it's not quite as easy to use as the one in this video. To find it: Search "a320 takeoff performance calculator" on Google, it's the one on "flightsim (dot) to". (can't post links here). If you don't have Microsoft Excel, you can upload the file on your Google Drive, and open it with Spreadsheets.
