MSI Creator Z16 A11UET Review 

I have this machine and a couple of things to consider before buying: On the good side: - Great screen - Good keyboard - Decent build quality - Decent weight / performance ratio - Good battery care software (you can set max charge to 60/80 percent) - Decent GPU performance considering TDP. - Great SSD performance Cons: - No USB-C charging option so remember to bring power adapter wherever you go. - Fan spinning most of the time (even during low load), but this is common on most Windows laptops. - Terrible and cheap feeling trackpad with a lot of movement when clicking, recommend using tap function only. Precision is good though. - Awkward M2 and memory placement. This should always be directly accessible when removing the back-plate. - Underperforming CPU solution, throttles constantly with really high temperatures. - Expensive The strange thing with this (and many other Windows laptops) is that thermal control is not optimal, giving high temperatures on surfaces and constant fan noise even on low load. Did a test in After Effects on both Z16 and Macbook Pro M1 (with only 16GB RAM) and after about one hour of working I rendered the same project and the MBP won hands down. But the most surprising thing is that the MBP was completely silent during the entire session while fans were going on 60-70% on the MSI, making the machine extremely noisy. Temperatures on the backside of M1 was very comfortable, while the Z16 was quite hot. This makes me wonder why the Z16 gets out-performed by a machine using way less power and staying much cooler. Battery life on the Z16 was 1 hour 15 minutes on AFX load, I only had 13% left after the test and rendering while my MBP M1 had 76% left, giving me another 8-11 hours of normal use. A bit baffled about these results actually.

I wish this (and probably other) laptops would start to place the ports on the back which would prevent a rat nest of cables hanging on the sides, hence occupying lots of desk space.

I just bought one of these on sale for $1500 USD. I need a powerful enough laptop to work remotely while traveling and this had the best specs for the price. It was hard to find a decently priced, high spec laptop that wasn't an eyesore aka gaming laptop.

Just a heads up all: this does NOT support charging via USB-C despite what the manual specifies. A shame given essentially everything else does now and the charger is far from the lightest.

finally a non-macbook laptop with competitive spec..

Price to performance a lil a drift. It, does have all the bells and whistles thou.. But, missing some basics. Don't, know how to feel about this one.

What would you recommend between this, the asus G14, and the dell xps 15 9510 ?

Do you recommend it for Solidworks project?

I wish they wouldn't have pulled the keyboard down so far. This would have been a great choice. 😔

How many hours does the battery last? How loud is it at idle or light load?

Does this laptop have backlight bleeding?

So to insert/upgrade the RAM and M.2 SSD card you need to remover the motherboard?

Great looking laptop, great specs, great build quality. However this completely fails the purpose of a laptop - which is being a portable machine. As soon as you remove its lifeline, which is it’s massive power brick and power cable, it start huffing and puffing, starving for electrons, and dies quickly. What is the point of a laptop that requires an umbilical cord wherever you go? M1 Macs will give you excellent performance with or without a power cord - in fact there is no difference at all in performance. And the battery will actually get you through your full work day. As of right now, M1 Macs are the best truly portable laptops on the market. The only Windows laptop I would recommend that does a fairly good job at portability and performance is the ASUS G14. They did a very good job at making sure the G14 provides good performance and respectable battery life, as a laptop should.

How crazy would it be to buy this laptop and flash a vbios it increase max to 85 90 watts?

i just got the z16 in and the top speakers don't seem to be working. What should i do?

Can it also be completely silent? And if yes in which scenarios? 😬(like watching Netflix?)
