I finally uploaded it.
Anyways my laptop was giving me some issues with the temps and i decided it was time to repaste it. I decided to go ahead and record the teardown process in case anyone else has this same (awful) laptop and needed to change some other part out!
Feel free to ask any questions about this laptop in the comments!

My laptop ended up idling at around 45 after waiting for a bit, and the highest temp i could get it to go to was 85, which is a lot better than 75 idling! Thermal paste is usually the most common reason for high temps, especially in gaming laptops, so applying some good quality paste can fix the issue for a while.

Hey quick question since my fan is failing and I only want to change the fan can I just unscrew the small black screws that screw into the fan to change it?

Suggests disconnecting the battery when doing anything inside the laptop. You should try using phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer and performs in my experience works better than traditional pastes, and instead of thermal pads give thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro. Do undervolting on the CPU and GPU at -100mV or more if it will be stable. It is also good to disable or reduce the frequency of the CPU in turbo boost, because for most games high clocking is unnecessary. And finally give a cooling pad such as IETS GT500. It will be more fps, quieter, cooler and less power will be drawn.

Good advice! I completely forgot about the battery. I would have invested in something like thermal putty/pads if this laptop had better hardware, so that's why i went with something cheaper like paste instead. I have also messed around with undervolting but it hasn't given any significant changes other than 1-2 degree temp drops (it had quite a few restrictions before i could to so). I have tried using a cooling pad, but I found around the same performance with a simple stand. Appreciate the comment!

I have Upsiren thermal puddy, how do I apply it should I match up the size to the old thermal pads I'm scared if I size the puddy too big or small.

You really made me feel anxious by casually lying your heatsink on the motherboard and pressing on in with the paper towel :D By the way, let me ask you a question: is your case still getting hot to the touch in the heatsink area after the clean up? I have exact same model and last clean up was about a year ago now. I still get idle 49C and max stress arround 80-85C, but sometimes I can barely keep my fingers on the area between F keys and the display.

RU-vid somehow didn't notify me for these comments :/ It was still pretty hot even after the thermal repasting, but at least it was bearable. It is a huge improvement from the factory, but I use an external keyboard anyways. (Also yeah I know i could and should have put the heatsink aside instead of on the mobo lol)

My MSI Thin GF63 Thin 9SC still freezes randomly even if idle. Even though I re-applied thermal paste for cpu and gpu using Kryonaut Thermal Grizzly, replaced the WI-FI card to Intel AX200, upgrade my RAM to 32GB, and what not. It seems that this freezing problem of mine is common with this model. :( I would not buy MSI laptops ever again.

Honestly same, the QC over a lot of MSI products doesn't seem to reliable from what I've seen online. You could have received one of those ""faulty"" or slightly off products honestly. Hopefully you can resolve it with software updates :(

HI I have the same computer as you. 9750+1650 max-q I have used it for three years and changed the thermal conductive paste twice(one is the thermal kryonaut last year just now change it to thermalright TH9 ) (ps some post already say the kryonaut was not the good choose thermal for laptop i think is correct because i open it the thermal already dry and showing out the die maybe i everyday open pc for playing ) . I haven't met you so far.I met BSOD twice last month because I updated the new OS version, but so far there is no problem. If your computer is still under warranty, it is recommended to go to the place where you bought it (although you have changed the thermal paste and damaged the sticker)

Please someone help me. I just disassembled my gf63 to change its thermal paste. But after I assembled it won't turn on and the charging indicator lamp didn't turn on too. Can someone give me suggestions what's wrong with my gf63?

Did you plug the AC adapter in after you closed up everything? Make sure to double check all the connectors as well, sometimes they aren't fully connected

how is your laptop doing? i bought a msi gf63 11uc, it has been 11 months since, should i repaste?
@Humaam295
@Humaam295 10 дней назад
It's just fine, but I honestly cannot recommend MSI products to anyone. If you notice that your laptop is running hotter/throttling more, you could try repasting. Though, do some tests before opening it and repasting it, as it can be a pretty annoying process. Good luck!

You don't *have* to change the thermal paste, I just did it as mine was getting pretty hot. Seeing that your other comment says you get 60-70, that's actually a really good range to be in. You shouldn't have to repaste it any time soon :)
