It seems like a good first iteration. Specs are great, but I'm worried it'll take a while before it shines --- much like the other ones --- where it took half a year to iron out issues. That being said, the lack of VRR is my biggest concern. Everything else seems great! Holo triggers & sticks, bigger handles. Bootiful! More ram is all going to be a big step up, as this is a pain point for heavier games on the Ally. I'm incredibly happy with the Ally and won't be upgrading any time soon. Also planning to use Moonlight and Sunshine to stream games directly over Ethernet to increase battery life to 4-7 hours and being able to max every game graphically.

yeah I remember when both the Ally and Go came out. tons of optimization to the software. like you said, VRR is a big miss. let me know how it goes with Moonlight/Sunshine!

I have an ally and both steam deck Lcd and oled. What I’ve realized using these handhelds is that while these companies won’t stop the “big number, better” mentality…what really works for most consumers is a balanced experience. Imo steam oled is by far the most practical and enjoyable device currently. As a handheld gamer, I’m very excited this area isn’t dominated by just one company anymore. Can’t wait to see what the next big item is.

This Claw looks nice. Intel goes to hand consoles. Is it better than Rog Ally...hard question. Both consoles are one of the best. I would go with Asus Ally.

Can you give me an example on how vrr in a certain game matters because the Ally has it and the legion go doesn't. Because I've looked and looked, I don't see anything to say that vrr is needed on a small display. Don't get me wrong I understand the technology, but I have yet to see screen tearing on any kind of Legion go video.

I think the claw will be close to the ally but only time will tell. Fmf on the ally will be out on the 24th it's suppose to give about double the frame rate. But I think the anti lag will be a problem at the beginning tell they can fix it.

I was just gonna buy the rog allz, but now that the msi claw is coming out I don't knnow if I shold wait or just buy the rog ally now or maybe wait for the release, because the price of the rog ally will slightly drop.

Looking at where the SD card is located they've probably coppied the SD card bricking problem too. None of the western handhelds interest me, I'll be sticking to onex and GPD

Not even the top dog steam deck? Zero issues with sd cards , valve constantly upgrading and proving why the best pc handheld is the steam deck. Gpd has my eye with the win 4 but zero support after purchase.

Most game are optimized to AMD because PS5 and Xbox have AMD chips. Rog Ally has an AMD chip and MSI Claw has Intel. Intel is barely getting into gaming where AMD has experience.

I skipped the legion it was a side grade basically a worse screen no vrr and detachable controllers doesn’t make me excited at all something else to break but the claw I will buy because of the new chip and bigger battery that’s a worthwhile upgrade

yeah, the Legion Go is mixed feelings for me. I like the bigger screen but hate the lack of vrr. the Thunderbolt but still awkward software etc etc. I wanted to try it but couldn't get a unit from Lenovo. the claw definitely piqued my interest for sure!

In terms of APU performance (internal graphics chip on cpu) AMD has more experience than Intel. But I think in the end battery life will determine the winner of the portable console market.

i wish it was like this but intel has lost the battle because of laziness, even with this , for me if u can play at 15w then it will have enough battery if not then it's not portable anymore and i don't this this intel šhit can run something at 15w

The start was funny but after being a rog ally owner, my steam deck is the most played out of the two all games hit 60 fps no problem on the deck I am using cryoutilities which is a God send for game performance on the deck for aaa gameing. After owning both units I think I'm going to wait a few years until better versions are on the market I think msi will be OK but il wait for the next generation handheld hopefully one that can play aaa games at 1080p at 80 fps atleast

@rockcrystal3277 doom eternal 60 fps ultra nightmare settings steam , devil may cry 5 60 fps max settings steam with a +30% on resolution scale so 130% scaleing 60fps il update the comment when i get chance to boot up dmc 5,Beyonetta games steam,batman games like arkam to knight steam, warframe I'm pretty sure runs 60 fps aswel ,souldiers steam but that's a retro style game so expected to run high fps lol it's deffo worth buying to its on cd keys for like 50p lol. I am also using the 512gb non oled model ,but I wouldn't know how they would run without cryo utilities installed since my doom eternal uses 7.1gb vram on the deck max temps 56 degrees with rgb backplate for better airflow running bios 3.5.5 plus fantastic fan plugin is a must too. Most other games on the deck are switch games to save on storage space which all play 30 fps with the odd dip to 26 for example pokemon Scarlett

@@Geekception very true I come from the og generation of gameboy so the idea of powerful handheld gameing is something I always wanted and agree we are in exciting times since aaa portable gameing is getting alot better and is possible now. I'm not sure about the rog temps though whilst docked anything over 60 degrees for me is a big no no an iv seen people using the rog at 75 to 80 to 90 degrees which for me personally is too much, lower temps means longer longevity/life of components, iv watercooled pcs for years like my main gameing rig hits 32 degrees max playing doom eternal max settings 4k ray tracing enabled dlss turned off ,I try to keep my ally in the high 40s low 50s temp wise so the 20 watt with 2 min boost of 25 watt seem to be the sweet spot for performance an good temps on the ally.

The 30 Watts on AMD is just as good as 40 Watts on an Intel Intel always runs hotter and needs more AMD always needs less and runs cooler the wrong Ally will be better than the MSI claw mark my words whenever you do your review come back to me and tell me I'm right in a reply here

@@Geekception it's better then the Ally for sure can't be to sure of the claw, VRR isn't enough to save the Ally and the claw not having VRR or OLED, and small screen is deal breaker, legion go has had a bunch of software updates that make it alot better, detachable controller, stand, big screen, fps mode, just more then what the Ally can ever do.
