I'm really looking forward to see you get your hands on this beast and do some undervolting test. Someone from China has already achieved 39k R23 score with small tuning and it seems their thermal design on the Titan was able to handle such high power on both CPU and GPU with only 2 fans. This certainly will be on top of the best gaming laptop list in the end of 2024.

That is insane. XMG Neo 16 did 36,500 with a undervolt (loadline from bios) in my recent livestream, though that was with active watercooling with XMG Oasis. Check that out too if you haven't.

@@GizmoSlipTech Yea I've seen the video when you first release, one thing I'm very uncertain is if MSI's 400W power will pull huge difference comparing to XMG's 330W (and all other manufacturers). I was hoping to see XMG dive deeper to release more power for the 14900hx with the watercooling design but so far it seems only MSI has this special treat for their flagship titan product line.

I think the titan 18hx is not the successor to the gt titan 77, but rather a new line of laptop, notice that the name has a difference in the prefix and suffix, notice that normally the successor should be called "gt titan 78" but this laptop I deleted the "gt" prefix and it has a new "18hx" suffix, it seems to me like an intermediate line between titan "gt titan series" and "ge series", this is my theory, what does msi say?

Great point, but when I say most powerful I am referring to power through put peaking at 220W, and throttling down to 180w of power. That GE78 I had literally was the best tested cpu from a sillicon lottery perspective out of all the laptops I tested last year. The 14900hx seems like it has a large variance in sillicon lottery, but if you had a great lottery chip, the Titan 18 HX should be faster since it can sustain higher TDP.

@@GizmoSlipTech Thank you so much! I really appreciate you getting back to me regarding this question. That's too bad because I was considering the Titan as my next laptop but now I'm not sure. Had they given us a third Thunderbolt 4 on the back to make up for the lost Mini DisplayPort, I would have been fine with it. I'm not sure if you're still at CES, but if you could relay the message that some high-end users actually do use the Mini DisplayPort on a daily basis, and next year, the RTX50 series will support DisplayPort 2.1 for the first time. Bringing the port back - and on the back of the laptop - would be a major advantage in my opinion. I use an MST Hub that connects to the Mini DisplayPort and this cannot be connected to the Thunderbolt 4 port.

If the 14th gen Intel chipset is basically the same as the 13th, which it is...why buy this? Also, the highest RAM Gen this has is Gen 5 folks AND you can't upgrade it. At least with the 2023 model you could stay at 4 or go to Gen 5 with the option to upgrade to 128 RAM & the Titan 18 HX already has 128 RAM in it = $5300..I researched this machine today.

The interesting thing about the trackpad is that it is seamless and haptic driven, not with a physical click. Normally, haptic trackpads are superior. Its what the MacBook Pro series uses. Uniform pressure click around the entire trackpad. As long as the software and sensors are good and well tuned. I think MSI could still improve a bit on that front, but Titan 18 HX still had a functional track pad.

beefy laptop but those temps are going to be a long term problem. i get the thinner and more portable angle they go for but they reduced the fans from 4 to 2 and with this kind of machine, 4 fans is a must have, this means it`s gonna run hot , and if the casual gamer buys this and doesn`t know how to undervolt or set the curve on the fans and so on, in max two years, that`s 4k dollars that`s flushed down the toilet. If it reaches 96 degrees celsius in cinebench which is not such a demanding task, imagine how bad it`s gonna be in terms of gaming, when all is going full throttle. That beast is gonna reach 100 degrees in 2 hours of normal gameplay.

Your not so wrong about what your saying BUT that exact machine has been on for like 8+ Hours right?? @@AnonymousBoss1 time will tell if this one is better. If I had the money I would buy the gt77 one, that's a beast and the cooling, phew those 4 fans can keep that machine cool for long play sessions. I had an msi thin gaming laptop couple of years back, and because of the poor cooling the audio with headphones never worked. Sent it back and got myself an Omen Hp. MSI have nice laptops, but this one is just a gimmick and a way to make more money with the screen and the mouse pad, the rest is a downgrade from last year, except for the CPU (not much difference there), I expect the price range will be the same $5k. All this said, the *GPU* cooling on the current GT77 is mind blowing compared to any other laptop in existence. 170w+, sustained for hours, 100% GPU load, and no higher than 62 degrees, ever. That in itself is an incredible feat. They need to improve CPU temps. And the first run of my 13980HX with no undervolt on bios F05 is 33,200 Cinebench. So, the new one is slower out of the box. Not convinced of the Vaper Chamber. I tested last year: Scar 18 - Blade 18 and the massive Titan with massive Air cooling system and Heat Pipes. And the Titan outperformed every other cooling solution BY FAR! Temps were much lower with higher performance while the Blade 18 with its Vapor Chamber was a joke and couldn't competet at all. Loud and hot even at medium performance. I feel like last years Titan Cooling solution was the most powerful heat dissipation we've ever seen on a laptop and I rather have a bit thicker laptop that doesn't struggle one bit (especially when considering such flagships) with temps rather than one that tries to get too small for it's own potential power.

Well, I think the MSI GT77HX 13VI is better in terms of performance, because it hardly heats up at all and there is no drop in performance. As for the MSI Titan 18hx from the factory, as seen in the video, with a temperature of 96°C, this means that there will be a drop in fps because as soon as the computer starts to heat up, the graphics frequency drops, causing a loss of performance. However, in the MSI GT77HX it doesn't happen because it doesn't reach such absurd temperatures.

It's not attractive to me. First of all, the touchpad may cause people to use it more sensitively and thus annoy them. I think the touch pad should be made of hard plastic material, not digital. Also, the arrow keys are too close to the other keys. As technology develops, manufacturers either focus on producing things that make people more neurotic, or they think they are producing superior technology and make people neurotic again. The notebooks of previous years were worthless and the current ones are useless. They should produce computers with advanced performance that people can use easily and comfortably.
